We are an Aveda Concept Salon and all our stylists do both hair color and haircuts. Our estheticians do Aveda facials and waxing in our soothing lower-​level spa rooms. Having used Aveda products and the Aveda color line for many years with amazing and consistent results, we are highly knowledgable and educate guests on how to acheive the same look at home.

History

Established in 2003.

Four generations of Gordons have been doing hair in Chicago since the the 1930’s. The Gordon legacy lives on at Gordon Salon in Lakeview, one of three salons owned by Tony and Pam Gordon. The consistent use of Aveda porducts is an important part of our internal salon culture. An environmentally friendly attitude and product line at Gordon Salon attract customers and staff from all over the country.

In 2008 all of our salons switched from a commission-​based salon to a team-​based employee structure. This has dramatically changed the culture of the salon/​spa, creating greater inclusion and refinement of the staff. Redecorating also occurred in 2008 creating a more open floor plan.

We have been named a «Top 200 Salon in the USA» by Salon Today magazine 11 times and know that your experience with us will be the highlight of your day!

Business Owner

Hair color and hair cutting has been my primary focus for many years. Formerly a hair color and cut trainer for Aveda corporate (an Aveda Global Purefessional) and prior to that a platform artist for Loreal Professional and Indola Professional, I now focus all my efforts on my own salon guests and the Gordon in-​house training program for all Gordon hair designers.

My passion is helping other service providers be successful. Hair designers, spa professionals and customer service personal are the heart beat of our business. A lot goes into creating a great fashion career besides doing amazing hair. To be able to create a fashion career in a competitive place like Chicago, one has to have commitment and drive, but it also takes a lot of mentoring. I love to help our people find success.

I’ve used this salon for haircuts for many years now, and I absolutely love it. I get my haircut by Tina, and highly recommend her to anyone, she’s fantastic! Remember to get a cup of tea while you wait, it’s the best tea I’ve ever had!

This is a really late review lol! I’ve been friends with
LIndsay for over 10 years and honestly was nervous of the idea of my friend cutting my hair but on new years eve I wanted a change. I told Lindsay exactly what I wanted and she talked to me about details and everything, making me super comfortable. I left loving my hair and so grateful to have a friend like her to truly care to make me look my best.

Love Gordon’s have been a customer for color and cut with Lindsay for
more than two years. She is fantastic with my fine baby hair. Plus it is such a nice low-​key atmosphere. You get a scalp and hand massage with your haircut.

I was referred to Jessica by a friend and was able to make an appointment easily. After going months without a haircut, I knew I wanted to cut a lot of length from my hair and try something different. Jessica was great! She gave me a lot of options considering how much I wanted to cut off. We ended up going with a long bob and I love it! It was a super relaxing experience! I also loved the scalp, shoulder and hand massages! I’m looking forward to my next visit!

Keith did a great job! Truly listens to what you want and also gives you his recommendations. He walks you through the the entire process and when you want a trim it’s truly just a trim. The salon staff is great, very attentive and super nice. The salon is on the smaller side but the space works and it’s extremely clean. They always offer you some water, tea, or coffee. I will definitely be going back.

Since moving to Chicago in August, I have had Lindsey cut and style my hair twice. She is incredibly friendly, takes her time to give a great cut, and while she dries and styles someone usually offers a hand massage. It’s a very relaxing experience, and I love the lavender scented products she uses. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Seriously love Amanda – the whole team actually, but Amanda has a special place in my heart. She understands my perfectionism with my hair and never once did she make me feel like I was wrong and crazy for pointing out things – she is humble and kind, regardless of ‘Master’ status.
It’s been years since I’ve made a place my permanent go-​to, but I think I’ve found it.
Knocking off 1 star because the assistant that dried my hair, burnt my scalp a tad bit.

Love Gordon Salon! I’ve gone there for the last year or so and have had an amazing experience every time. The staff are all so nice and the receptionists are SO accommodating! I’m always late and having to reschedule and I haven’t had an issue ever, they’re always able to reschedule or whatever else is needed. CJ is an incredible hair stylist; I wouldn’t trust anyone else in Chicago to do my highlights and haircut! She’s been so great every time!!! Highly recommend CJ for any hair color or cut you need!

Amanda is the best! She’s been my stylist for the last 6+ years. She has grown so much as a hair stylist over the years! She’s always asking what I’m looking for with my next cut, gives me suggestions, and delivers every time! The relationship with your stylist is like none other. :) Gordon Salon has awesome customer service, the scalp and hand massages are a delightful treat!

The staff was awesome. They are very attentive and make you feel welcomed. I honestly don’t know much about hair or the different products so I really appreciated them taking the time to explain what they were doing and how I could maintain my hair health.
I went in with the intention of getting a cut as well as an ombré and Amanda took the time to look at my hair and recommended that I wait before getting that done. I’m sure to tell a customer no or an honest opinion is not the easiest and I really appreciated her telling me to wait on that considering how damaged my hair was and walked me through what they could do to restore my hair again.
Brianna cut my hair and did a great job! I was really hesitant about it since I was referred and didn’t know much about the salon but she was great from start to finish and my hair looks so much healthier. They really take their time, in a good way and make sure they get the job done right.
Will be visiting again very soon!

I want to start out by saying the front desk staff was super friendly and welcoming!
However, my stylist was very quiet during my cut and promised me I would be able to do the things to it I was explaining to her about. I made sure I told her that I don’t have time to actually so my hair on the morning so I would like layers that would bring out my natural wave. I brought in pictures and I even made sure I said «the last haircut I got was high-​low and I didn’t like it»
So after about 30 minutes of sitting in silence she shows me the finished product. From the way she styled it, it looked good! I was worried the layers were not log enough to get my wave and she assured me they were with the right products.
So after 2 days, I began to notice that 1) this is a high low haircut. This really made me angry since I specifically mentioned how I don’t like them. 2) the «layers» are all over the place. I have some pieces of hair that are super long, longer than the other side (when they were supposed to be matching) and then randomly a piece of short hair grown into my long hair. It all makes no sense.
Maybe it was just late and she really wanted to go home but I put all of my trust into my stylist and she let me down
My hair is so short now there is really no way to fix it and being an actor, my face/​hair/​all around looks is important to me. I’m incredibly disappointed and now have to wait another year for my hair to grow out so I can attempt to get it cut it again.
