H&R Block Manager: Sir, our policy states that the cost of the service is related to the number of forms we fill for the tax administration. And you signed it. For your case, it’s $ 489.
If you want to pay only $ 200, we’ll have to pull out some forms but your tax return will be lower».
While talking to the manager, I had the very unpleasant feeling that they were used to this kind of fraudulent tactics. «You want the money I wave in front of you? Ok then the cost is twice what I initially said. Deal ?»
It’s beyond being just unprofessional, it’s dishonest & sounds seriously like a scam

Getting my W2 in the mail yesterday reminded me to finally write this review.
I filed with H&R Block last year, and it was my second year getting my taxes done at the same location with the same person. Nothing had changed from year to year, but somehow my taxes last year were done incorrectly. I ended up overpaying Illinois by about $ 2000, and waited until Thanksgiving time just to get my money back.
I had to figure out myself that my taxes were done incorrectly, and getting a hold of someone at this office past tax season was a nightmare. Turns out that the person doing my taxes had assumed IN & IL had a reciprocal agreement, which they do not. I’m sure I’m not the only person living in one state and working in another, so it is very surprising that they did not know this. I had to re-​file everything, re-​mail, etc.
The second star here is just for the person who did my taxes the second time. He was nice, helpful, and apologetic.
They ended up refunding me about half of what I had paid for them to do my taxes (of course I hadn’t opted for the «insurance» which I think should be included in their services anyway!). They also told me they’d give me a «good deal» if I came back this year, but I won’t ever be going back here again, and I wouldn’t suggest that you do either.

HORRIBLE! Had to go back twice because they didn’t know how to file my return properly. In the end it ended up costing me upwards of $ 200 and they didn’t even finish my return as it was «too complicated and would cost too much».
Don’t waste your time or money!!!

I’ve been coming to this H&R Block location for the last 4 years, and never have had any difficulty or hassle — until this year! My taxes are always pretty easy and straight-​forward. However, this year, I inherited some money from an out of state relative who has passed, and the tax team just couldn’t seem to figure out the logistics/​forms. After conferring with my lawyer’s about the legality of everything and trying to explain this to William Canny (Tax Advisor 1) who was trying to complete my taxes, I still wasn’t able to have them submitted. William Canny is an unreasonable man, who is ignorant, intolerant, and not up to date on his tax knowledge! I would never recommend anyone to have him prepare your taxes. I went to an ancillary H&R Block on Broadway, where Pam Pettibone, EA (Master Tax Advisor) was able to efficiently and successfully help me out. To anyone thinking about going to Belden Center to have your taxes done, I would think twice.

I usually just do turbotax or something online, but I decided to splurge on an accountant & save myself the time.
I made about $ 2,000 by walking in the door, and it only took about half an hour. I wish I made that much an hour at my regular job.
