After all was said and done, my husband and I are very happy with our wedding photos from Heather. Our wedding day was a whirlwind, but she and her her assistant were able to capture some truly memorable moments. As a whole, the pictures she gave us capture our wedding day perfectly from start to finish.

Heather Parker was an amazing photographer and very easy to work with. We loved her photojournalist style, emphasizing natural candid moments rather than posed portraits. We were lucky to have her, and would highly recommend her to anyone.

Heather flew down to do a job and her work was impeccable. Great attention to detail. Not only does she shine behind the camera, but her post processing skills on the computer really made a few images magical. Would I recommend her work to others? I already have.

I needed to find a photographer to capture my proposal to my girlfriend. I was nervous that it wouldn’t work out since it needed to be a candid shot, but Heather met me at the spot I wanted to do it a few days before to make sure it would be perfect. On the night of the proposal my gf and I got to the lakefront spot early and Heather was already there (thank God). My gf never suspected a thing and Heather got the exact picture that I wanted as well as a ton of other good ones without my girlfriend realizing it. I trusted Heather to do a great job and she exceeded my expectations. She listened to what I wanted and added her creativity to it… I would highly recommend her to anyone. I think that the proposal pic is still up on her facebook page. Thanks again Heather!

Well, she was a solid chunk of our budget, but well worth it! Months after our wedding, her photos encapsulate our most prized memories. The quality of her work is what you’d expect from such a professional, but her style is what sets her apart — photojournalistic to the core. No artificial poses, just real life shots of your special day. She fades into the scene and captures it all with a veiled presence. The result is the most beautiful and natural set of wedding photos you could get.

We used Heather for both our engagement shots as well as our Winter wedding. Heather was professional, and despite other reviews creative. Not the cheesy kind of creative where she made us do uncomfortable poses like it was prom all over again, but in a way that she was able to capture emotion in photos.
We did our engagement shots on a very strange weather day in the fall. There was tons of fog and we were initially really disappointed that we would not be able to get any of the sky line. The pictures came out like something out of a fairy tale. They were beautiful. She really captured the surroundings and that the sky line was not at all missed.
Shooting in the winter does not really give much in the way of flexibility because not much can be done outside. We also had a pretty unique and dark space. She was able to get the best of it and looking back at pictures is always fun. She got everyone in their element and made herself invisible the whole night, which was great because people were able to enjoy the night without someone running around asking for poses.
I agree with others on the eyes closed or not your best shot, but that comes with the territory when you ask for photo journalism rather than posing for pictures all night. I do wish we would have gotten more structured photos with the family or us with certain people, but that kind of stuff should be communicated to the photographer when they are hired.
Overall we had a great experience and Heather is really talented. It’s all about communication, so if there is something that is important to you, you need to let her know.

long overdue post wedding update :
our wedding was in august… and we are in love with the photos. heather gave awesome suggestions on where to go around the city for the best & most unique shots… places i would never thought of … including the old «life’s too short» restaurant (elston & division), which i literally drive past every day to work. our photos from traveling around the city with our bridal party are some of my favorites from the big day.
but that doesn’t mean that the actual wedding ceremony /​reception photos aren’t also incredible. the candids are fantastic. and i feel like each picture shows the real emotions being felt by us, our families & friends that night.
we didn’t use a videographer, so we knew that an amazing photographer would make or break the wedding memories… heather certainly did not let us down! she’s definitely a go-​to gallery 1028 photographer … and we loved every minute while working with her.

I just wanted to update after my wedding! We are SO happy with our photographs from our wedding. Heather was really wonderful to work with the day of the wedding, she made sure to grab us for shots she wanted, but was not intrusive at all. We just found out our wedding was selected to be on Style Me Pretty and I am sure its because of Heather’s amazing work!

If you haven’t picked your photographer yet and Heather is available book her right away! My finance and booked Heather for our upcoming wedding in November. She is hands down the best vendor decision we have made. Honestly, we feel lucky to have been able to book her.
We did our engagement shoot a couple weeks ago with Heather. She includes in this her package and urges couples to take advantage of it to get comfortable with her and the camera.
She suggested we think outside the box when we picked out a location. I’m so glad we listened to her because we have engagement pictures that are much cooler than we are. Plus, we had a blast taking them. I can’t even imagine how unique and fabulous our wedding pictures will be.

We did an «after the wedding» shoot with Heather in Palm Springs and the pictures absolutely blew us away. The quality and caliber of the photos were awesome. She was so easy to work with, incredibly easy going and has a great vision. Our families and friends are so impressed with the creativity and color of the photos. I was happy to meet a photographer with such a great style and it was a privilege to have worked with her! I highly, highly recommend her and wish she could have done our actual wedding.

When we selected Heather to be our wedding photographer, my fiancé and I wanted someone who was talented, artistic, easy to get along with, and someone who had an eye for detail. We have found all of these qualities in Heather!
Our first meeting with Heather was great. We met her at her house and saw a dvd of her wedding photography. After the meeting my fiancé and I knew that we had to ask her to be our photographer!
In October we met Heather at Olive Park near Navy Pier for our engagement photo session. It was early in the morning but Heather was really flexible and agreed to meet us there to get some good sunny shots! We even brought our dog, Gizmo for the photo shoot.
We all had so much fun but you are never quite sure how the photos are going to come out until you see them!
Well, Heather mailed us the CD of images a week ahead of time, which was above and beyond what we had hoped! And the photos were amazing! She took so many photos and there were over 50 images that we loved! We showed them to friends and family and everyone was in awe with the pictures. It is always hard to please your parents, and I have to say that my mom is one of the harshest critics but she was so impressed with the pictures that she can’t wait to have Heather snap photos at the wedding! After getting so many great photos, the only hard part was picking our favorite for the save the date.

I first met Heather on a wedding that I was working on (I’m a Hair and Makeup Artist). Heather was extremely pleasant from the moment she walked in the room. She greeted everyone, introduced herself, and made us feel comfortable (I’ve noticed brides and bridal party members in the past get stiff and act unnatural when the photographer is present; but Heather created an environment which felt natural and made all of us feel comfortable and it reflected in the photos that the bride later sheared with me. I was extremely pleased with her work and would recommend her to other clients and friends.

I used Heather for my wedding in October ’09 and am so happy I did. We now have roughly 1500 gorgeous photos of our engagement and wedding. Aside from being a very creative shooter, Heather is very comfortable to work with which is critical because it really shows in your pictures. Included with our package was an engagement shoot, 8 hours of shooting out the wedding day with TWO photographers, online posting and CDs of all our pictures. The price was very reasonable, especially for what was included. She really cares about what she’s doing and that really shows in the quality of her photos.
I have nothing negative to say, Heather was wonderful. I remember what the day felt like every time I look at my photos.

We hired Heather for our wedding photos, as we wanted a photographer with a photojournalistic style, who played with colors and angles, and whose work had something extra special. Heather Parker is just that. Our wedding photos are unbelievable. Her retouching work brought out colors that weren’t there in the first place and look phenomenal, and almost every moment of the day was captured somehow. I had no idea she was there during most of the reception, as she blended in with everyone. She did take the time to check in every once in a while just to make sure if there were any shots in particular we wanted. I’m so happy I have bright vibrant pictures that show us actually having fun on our day and no cheesy poses and fake smiles. We’re very pleased and would recommend Heather to anyone!

Heather came to our house to photograph our newborn baby. I’m a graphic designer and I work with photographers a lot, so I know it’s hard to get good shots outside a controlled studio environment, and an uncooperative baby probably doesn’t help, but in no time at all, with practically no setup (just a remote flash) she got so many great images I can’t decide which to use on the birth announcement. I’ve worked with pros that come in with two assistants and a truckload of gear and light a room for hours to take a simple portrait, and don’t get anything nearly as creative or distinctive as Heather’s shots.
Heather’s very low-​key and easy to work with, she cheerfully accommodated all my dumb ideas and then quietly blew them away with her own, ha.

Heather photographed our September 2009 wedding at Gallery 1028 in Chicago, and she did an amazing job. We wanted artistic photos that would retell the story of our wedding day, and that’s exactly what we got. Heather was professional, creative, and super easy to work with. Our photos are nothing short of stunning, and we are so glad we hired her!

Heather photographed our wedding at the Stan Mansion in September. Knowing that other photographers had some difficulties shooting there because the space can be low lit, Heather sought perspective when we were deciding how to light the space. While I haven’t seen all of our photos yet, the ones I have seen are wonderful and did not appear to have any hinderance of light.
She shot some family photos prior to the wedding and gave us some great guidance on how to move through the photos quickly (ie giving everyone a list of the photos so people are ready). She was a ninja photographer as most of my family and friends don’t remember seeing here throughout the wedding, but she took wonderful shots.
Great person to work with and great at capturing detailed moments. I’d definitely recommend her for your event.

We used Heather for our wedding on April 5^th, 2009! we found her to be extremely professional, easy to work with and most of all, we think her photos are awesome! My wife said to me a few days after the wedding, everytime she thought, wow this would be a great photo… heather was there.

I’ve known Heather for five years, and seen a lot of her work. She has a great eye for composition and color. I have not worked with her in a photographer/​client relationship, but as a designer and hobbyist photographer who knows a little bit about the industry, I can assure you that she is as helpful as can be with her clients, and always has her client’s best interests at heart.
