Hernandez Signs

We have been contacted by Hernandez Signs now twice demanding we pay them for our city awning permit renewal. We have never done business with Hernandez Signs, so the first time they called asking for $ 100 (even though our renewal is only $ 50) I assumed the company who installed our awning was maybe bought out or closed and handed over their accounts. When I told the lady who called, we would be taking care of it directly with the city, especially since I had never done business with them, they were asking for twice the amount due and telling me it was due 4 months before it actually was, she insisted we couldn’t pay it directly to the city and Hernandez must take care of it.
Two months later I received our renewal form at the store, from the City! A form that clearly showed we had 2 months left before the renewal was due, and that it in fact was only $ 50 to renew. I still assumed Hernandez was just mistaken by contacting us initially asking for the renewal money.
Today, another month-​and-​a-​half later I just received another call from Hernandez demanding we pay them $ 100 for the awning renewal and that she needed to enter it into the computer for us. I don’t know what the deal is, if this is a scam they pull on other first year businesses or what. They could potentially be pocketing $ 50 from every unsuspecting business and paying the renewal fees they claim to be to go unnoticed. Especially since they are asking for the money two months before the city ever sends out a renewal notice to the business, with the amount owed.

I first contacted Hernandez signs and spoke to a pleasant lady by the name of Esmeralda requesting to use credit card for the job and although they did not have credit card service they applied for credit card services and I am now able to obtain an outdoor enclosure patio for our small business.
So far it’s been a very pleasant experience and the quality of work and resolve seems to be very good.

I ordered a large wimdbreak/​awning for my back deck in order to create an external mud-​room for the winter. Juan and Esmeralda came to do an estimate on the same day that I called and sent me a written estimate that evening. Their quote was about 3x cheaper than the other companies that gave a quote (and two other companies made appointments to do estimates but never showed up). I was worried that the low cost would mean a lower quality product. Quite the contrary. Hernandez Signs had a large array of colors and they went back and forth with me to design the perfect product for my space. The fabrication was done within 10 days and they installed the windbreak within three weeks after I ordered it. The windbreak is gorgeous — sand colored canvas edging with clear vinyl all around to let in the sun. It creates a safe, wind-​free, warm place for us to get snowy/​wet/​muddy shoes and boots off before going into the house. The responsiveness and high level of customer service was a delight. The quality and price of their product makes me wish I could use Hernandez more. I recommend them without reservation.
