We specialize in creative pastries and hot food. Our #stuffles are the bomb and are available on the weekends! Every day we have an assortment of house-​made breakfast sandwiches, doughnuts, and other baked goods. We serve Sparrow Coffee and are known for quick & friendly service.

History

Established in 2015.

We also own Baker Miller– known for brunch. Baker Miller needed extra bakery space and we were excited about doing creative pastries. A space that we love opened up next to a train station and we had an aha moment. We now use the space to service commuters and people looking for good comfort food on the go. The extra bakery space gives us a chance to bake for our other restaurant as well…

We’re Dave & Megan Miller and we’re the proud owners of Hot Bar. Hot Bar is our fun hot food spot where we get to play with ingredients and share our favorite comfort foods with our neighborhood. Everything is grab and go because we’re next to a train station but we have a few indoor seats and beautiful outdoor seating during the nice weather. We also own a bakery and brunch spot that specializes in brunch and baked goods called Baker Miller. We hope you love what we do and visit both locations!

This is the second time my husband and I have gone to Hot Bar for breakfast. Unless you’re there first thing in the morning, prepare to have limited choices. However what you do end up ordering will be delicious. The feta, egg sandwich on focaccia is amazing and the dough-​nots are super flavorful. The inside leaves a lot to be desired but I get their idea of wanting people to pop in and out before getting on the L. The service is so-​so and could be better but considering you’re in and out in a couple minutes it’s not that big of a deal. Im hoping they’ll have iced coffee in the summer!

I want to support this place – staff is really nice and food is decadent, if that’s your bag… but a vegan healthy option is sorely needed. Pretty please? Also, the egg sandwiches need to be hot. Pretty please. Both times, I bought a cold sandwich sitting out under heat lamps…

Despite all the hype, their offerings, while slim, are better than your usual Dunkin’ Donuts but I’m not wowed by them. Stuffles land flat (literally) and the dough-​nots are quite dense. They finally offered cinnamon rolls and were disappointingly doughy (not in good Cinnabon way, for lack of comparison). Good for a quick bite while waiting for a train but I would not go out of my way for any of this. Honestly, I’m more likely to patronize their friends across the tracks at First Slice for a better selection of baked goods.

I’m so happy to have Baker Miller here in Ravenswood Manor.
I love the tasty treats and delicious coffee with oat milk. I’m nuts about the Oreo muffins and the breakfast sandwiches are delish too!
The staff and owners are always friendly and sweet. Thanks for opening up in the neighborhood, you guys are awesome keep up the good work!

Had biscuits with ham which were very delicious. Cookies are to die for although they look ordinary. People in the store were very nice.
Their website has the menu of Baker Miller only, that’s their branch at Western. I suppose what they have on display in the café are the only pastries available.

I so wanted to like this place. Was excited to go. First time they were closed, so went back and found it to be more like a kitchen I had walked into. No seating but a few window bar seats. The name made me think our food would be hot. Not even lukewarm. The cheese in my ham and cheese croissant was so cold it was hard. The stuffle with nutella was also a big let down. I expected that fresh out of the oven taste and instead these felt like they had been sitting out for hours. Thought I would try their cinnamon rolls that I love from their other location, but seems they cook them here (there were a ton) but do not sell them?! Not sure if this all was a fluke as it wasn’t the owners working, but I will not be back to find out. Bummer.

Been to their shop on Western a lot and absolutely love it, so I was very excited when they opened up Hot Bar two blocks from my home.
Been there numerous times since they opened and their food is really good. Love the stuffles and the sandwiches (I’m a savory kind of guy).
Went in this morning (12÷05÷15 around 7:45a) and was met with two rude workers. I was a bit taken aback as a huge part of the service industry is customer service and there is a competitor a mere 20 yards away. The two ladies had not put up signs signifying the contents of the stuffles. When asked what was in the stuffles I was met with a cold «I don’t know.» I stood their waiting to see if they were going to find out or help in any way, but they didn’t. I asked if one had meat or cheese in it and you would have thought I asked how many spots were on the cow from which they got the milk for their coffee bar.
I was finally able to work out which stuffle had meat and cheese in it and, thankfully, my experience with those two ladies was over.
A decent stuffle and a decent sandwich does not make up for poor customer service. I don’t wake up on a cold morning and frequent local small businesses in order to be treated rudely. Unfortunately that is what happened this morning.

Have been to Hot Bar now a couple times. Loved it the first couple as the owner was there, super friendly and clearly in charge. This morning, however, both ladies who were working there were very short, didn’t have the Stuffle tags listed and couldn’t tell us what we’re in each of them. We were trying to be friendly and inquire about other pastries and all we got were blank rude stares. Very unusual. Also, if your making cinnamon rolls 2 feet away from the counter, I ask if you have them and you say no these are going somewhere else… I’m going to be disappointed. Sell me a damn cinnamon roll. Otherwise, delicious!

This place is great! It opens earlier than First Slice, which is just up the street, so it’s a really convenient option for us early commuters who want to grab a cup of coffee. The people are super friendly and the food is good (I can vouch for the bacon and cheese biscuit – sweet and savory, and easy to eat on the train).

The sugar coated pear jam stuffed «doughnot «was amazing. It’s hard to find good pastries with good coffee and this place has both. I also tried a cherry stuffle and that was pretty good too. I will definitely be back!

General store or not this place is a great addition to the neighborhood. Not sure what compels people to slam places open only for a week with a one star review.
The cinnamon donut hole thing was my favorite but the savory stuffles were also pretty awesome.

Well, my first review got removed because it was apparently not a first hand customer experience. Even though I went in today. So that’s annoying. This spot was advertised for months to be a general store & then it randomly opened up as a café. Next to another café. When I WENT INTO THE CAFE TODAY, hey hello I went in!!! As a customer! I realized it’s not a general store, so that’s annoying. Then I realized they had not one vegan option. Then later my friend went in and said his breakfast sandwich was hard from sitting under a heating lamp. Gross. Soooooo yep. I stand by my original review– a general store of sorts would have been way better & the neighbors in my building seem to agree. Pretty lame.

The prosciutto stuffle last Saturday was unreal. And the cinnamon toast dough-​not was equally amazing — beyond sugar and cinnamon, there was a nice custard flavor to the dough. Looking forward to dropping in again soon!

I found the service to be first rate, and the food was great too! They have some original food types for us foodies out there. They make something called a «stuffle» which is a stuffed waffle. Very tasty! Also they make the stuffle several different ways to suit different tastes. I also got a donut from there it was cinnamon dusted and was very fresh! Give this place a try if you want to support a budding new business with some great and original ideas. A must for foodies, not for nerds!

. Thumbs up for the stuffle, a sweet or savory filling between two sheets of shatteringly crisp and delicious pastry pressed in a waffle iron. Ditto for the biscuit sandwiches with bacon, cheese and apple butter. Dough-​nots are not doughnuts and if you are expecting a tender, fried ball of dough you will be disappointed.
There is room in this neighborhood for a take-​out coffee shop that opens early and serves delicious, unusual pastries, Fact is this storefront immediately south of the Francisco L station has been a coffee shop on and off for more than 15 years
