Just the wrost experience ever. I know what this place is and I only come because my 6 yr old loves a certain menu item but today was horrible. Eaten leftover bread in my bread basket, waitress disappeared, cold and old bacon and sausage. Don’t even get me started on the men’s room! Just bad. Go Anywhere Else!

Came here at about 2 in the morning after a long day. I got the food I ordered in less than 15 minutes and was gone in half an hour, which I really appreciated. This is a really decent diner, especially if you want to eat after hours.

Make sure to arrive early on weekends. This place is packed on Saturday and Sunday mornings. There is a line by 830am. The food is great and and it’s very popular with families and kids. They have a variety of brunch options and are always attentive to what you want. Avoid the restrooms!

Had breakfast, late night, at this 24-hour restaurant on Chicago’s south side. While service was attentive and fast, the food was not very tasty. Acquaintance had breakfast as well and was quite displeased with the texture and taste of the pancakes that came with the meal. My omlette was basically tasteless — other than a greasy taste. It was very flat and thin which meant it wasn’t very filling. Apparently a 2-egg omlette instead of 3-egger like most restaurants is served here. It’s about the only 24-hour place in the area which likely explains why the parking lot is often full at night. It’s doubtful that the food is what keeps the crowds coming.

A decent brunch place in the McKinley Park neighborhood. We went there Sunday around 11am and were seated within 15mins. I had the BLT while my companion got the country fried steak. My BLT was great, but fries are not seasoned at all, which was just okay. Their cream of chicken soup was delicious! We also got a short order of the french toast — and I love that idea! The food was comparable to any other diners, and the service was quick. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back if we wanted a diner brunch.

Them big ol’ donuts turned me on to the southside. Love the diner, love the servers, love the menus, and can’t get enough of the Texas donuts. The fact that it’s a 24 hour joint makes it all the better.

Fast service, the food was great & inexpensive. We bought breakfast to start our shift & doughnuts for the crew later. No complaints with either. Since they’re blocks away from our garage we’ll definitely be back!

This place is always good, especially to get a late night snack. Try to avoid the crowds on the weekends after 2AM because they’re all drunk and loud and sometimes disorderly. But the prices are good as well as the food. It’s open 24 hours, which is one of the great things about it. Good food, decent prices, nice atmosphere. Can’t ask for more.

I ordered a Reuben to go. When I arrived, I was kinda worried because they asked if I would like Thousand Island dressing. Since this is a given on this type of sandwich, I was confused why they would ask that. I was impressed that I had called the order in and walked over which took less time than I had thought so I was there early but barely had to wait for my food. I don’t know why there was lettuce and tomato in the container(not typical with a Reuben). It was really awkward to add the dressing since the cheese had already melted holding the sandwich together. The corn beef was nice and thick and the sauerkraut was the perfect amount to be enough and not overwhelming. I would order this sandwich again but make sure to ask for the dressing ON the sandwich!

I was so excited to meet my friends here EARLY for breakfast one morning and then… meh, I was disappointed. If it weren’t for the company, I would’ve probably not stuck around. The place is more greasy spoon than the location in Oak Lawn and the food is just ok. It’s just your standard breakfast, no frills, nothing over the top, just food. It doesn’t sound like all Huck Finn’s are owned by the same people. I will never have a need to go here again. Blah.

Service has gotten better, met some old friends for breakfast, place was packed, and still was able to get a table in an adequate timing. Food was good, my daughter is a very picky eater and finished a whole pancake, and bacon !!! I will be gong there just to see her eyes shine so bright!!!

Super cute old school place. Breakfast is great… I get the broccoli cheese omelette or a veggie skillet. Lunch is okay. The donut delight saved my life once.

Piss poor horrible restaurant. I ordered the Becky thatcher after a hard day of rioting at riotfest. Ordered a coffee to keep me awake rest of night. I go to stir some sugar in to my coffee and I find a sugar packet floating in my coffee. They were not busy at all and there should have been better quality control. The creamer bowl was filled with empty creamer cups with a napkin set over it. Luckily the very nice bus boy brought me a new cup and spoon. He got my tip… As I requested another water to keep my self hydrated, I pounded half the glass down. As I was sitting the glass down i noticed there was sewer flys in my water. They’re lucky I paid for my meal because I was so disgusted by the poor lack of quality and detail. I have 0 interest in going back to this location. At least the one on 67 and Pulaski pays more attention to details…

Huck Finn’s is your basic diner. Open 24 hours a day, they have a wide menu variety of all 3 daily meals. On this day, we wanted some lunch. My husband ordered the Monte Cristo platter while I chose a BLT Club platter. Sharing half of each meal, I thought my Club sandwich was better than his Monte Cristo. I prefer my MC’s to be battered and cooked in a skillet. This one was more like french toast bu I thought it was somewhat soggy. My husband thought it was the cat’s ass, though. We also picked up some chocolate long john donuts but I could tell they were close to exceeding their shelf life by the time I tried one later in the day. Still, the food is pretty good here.

It’s only getting a 2 star Bc the food is good. Service is terrible! Last time I went I got this mean white lady, I asked her to bring me a soup and she forgot about it and when we got the bill my soup was already charged on it… I love the food but the service is just a no-no.

This restaurant is disgusting! I went here expecting a good breakfast and I leave unsatisfied and disgusted. First of all, I ordered the steak breakfast and I specifically asked the waitress for the steak to be well done but both times it was rare. The hAsh browns were still cold, I could tell that they were previously frozen. Then my daughter ordered the pancake meal, and half way through her meal she notices a black hair on her plate. I know that was not her hair since she has blonde hair. After complaining to the waitress she just said«shit» and left with our plates. No apologies or explanations. Twenty minutes later she came back with our bill. Supposedly she was going to remove both plates from our bill, but how did our bill amount to nothing. So after their discount they wanted us to pay 33 for the food that we didn’t eat. Ha! I am never going back to this crappy restaurant! I also wanted to let you guys know that the manager never showed up and talked to us, in fact nobody ever came and apologized for our bad experience.

Doughnut review only. Huck Finn has been on my apple-fritter radar for a while, and today was finally the day. It was decent, not great. The exterior was a bit crispy as it should be, but the center was slightly underdone. The whole thing contained very few apples and little cinnamon flavor. It wasn’t even very sweet, which is usually fine; but in the absence of other flavor elements, I at least wanted some sugar, you know? I liked the other doughnuts more, particularly the blueberry cake, which was rather light, almost fluffy, and sported a robust berry taste. One other positive note – at 2pm on a Sunday, the doughnut case was still well stocked. Most bakeries would be closed or their selections decimated by then.

Drove from the burbs for breakfast and regret the decision whole –heartedly! First, it took over 10mins to even place our order. When we finally received it, both of our orders were wrong(they were simple orders!) The coffee spilled all over our table was overkill(we don’t drink coffee.) My husband didn’t get his drink until he was finished with his food(yes, we asked way before that.) The waitress commented she’s «in such a rush since everyone decided to come at the same time.» Not our fault ma’am. The food was decent at best but we should’ve stuck with our original plan of going to Blueberry Hill in Lagrange.

One of the only places in town where I can order a plain omelet and they aren’t confused or laughing at me. My bruised ego has fond feelings for Huck Finn. If your dining alone or with a buddy, don’t wait to be seated. Just go up to the bar and sit up front. It’s much faster, and you’ll be in and out in under 30mins. **They also have donuts, but I don’t really eat donuts so I guess can’t rate them either way.**

The waitress we had was very friendly and was even cracking jokes. The food was made fast and was delicious I had a chicken Caesar Pita with fries. I could not finish all my food because the pita is huge and they give you a lot inside it. My fiancé had the chorizo omelette which was very good and he also had waffles which was good as well.

Where can you get monstrous-sized donuts? And, I’m talking about BIG — big, oversized chocolate-covered or glazed donuts(the glazed ones are so much better) for only $ 1.70! The fact that they’re monstrous and that they sell them at this donut shop, I just thought it was hilarious! I got all giddy when I saw these — didn’t even want to eat them. The donut itself was fine, and I think it’s just one of those experiences that’s cool to have if you’re in the area! +oversized GIANT donuts = $ 1.70!
