I have been using I. Sachs for more than 6 years and they have always been very helpful for my shoe repair business.

This company fraudulently deposited a check that was addressed to me that I had accidentally dropped on the ground. I don’t know anything about their business, but I do know that they are criminals.

What a beautiful, sunshiney Monday, Presidents’ Day. I finally got off of my bum and after calling to make sure that the place was open, decided to officially check I Sachs Sons, Inc. off of my «to try» Unilocal list. I’m so glad I did and I can’t wait to return!
After an hour of browsing on the 2^nd floor, I purchased approx. 65ft of some beautiful embossed cowhide and eel skin. The description on the invoice indicates «Leather from Upstairs». I would like to add that they’re some very squeeaky stairs (.)

This is the place that the cobblers get their materials. It’s also a place with some pretty unique ‘stuff’. I have a ¼″ rubber pad on my workbench (since the late 70s) that came from I Sachs. I’ve used some of their material as a waterproof base under a sink that had leaking problems. A water filter system & it’s little hoses kept getting snagged, but the people didn’t want to be w/​o the filter. It’s dark in here with little corners that are borderline spooky. If you need leather dye, buckles, shoe nails, or want to glue a sole back on, this is the place to find it. If you’re the creative type looking for some unusual materials, you will be able to find something here.

I Sachs is one of those happy ‘accidents’.
I was on my way to Vogue Fabrics on Roosevelt Road when I first found this hidden gem of a merchant — I saw the door to I Sachs, (along with a sign that said ‘open to the public) and couldn’t help myself … Like Alice in Wonderland — I stepped inside …
I needed around 15 (of the same style) buckles … I Sachs had them — for a price that didn’t leave my wallet hemorrhaging while I tried to figure out how to continue the rest of my errands. Some buckles look worn, of course — but for me — that’s a good thing. distressing metal bits can be tricky with costuming.
Long shelves, burgeoning with assorted grommets, buckles, welting and shoe tread fill the space. So THIS is where the cobbler comes to line his shelves with the magick they work on the shoes we proffer to be repaired.
Everything I’ve asked for — they seem to have. Not only that, they KNOW ABOUT THE PRODUCTS they sell! Since the shop is open to the public, it’s a great place for the do-​it-​yourselfer.
My only complaint is that it could use a good cleaning — but that’s not even that much of a complaint. I expect a bit of grit in a business that deals with shoes. Show me a clean shoe shop — and I’ll show you a shop that doesn’t really ‘do’ shoes. I won’t go to a mechanic with a clean shop either … same thing.
I never thought in a million years I’d be creating shoes — but since I am, I’m GLAD this place exists!
