History

Established in 2004.

International award winning Chicago wedding photographer, Gina DeConti, founded Imaginative Studios after becoming engaged herself. She quickly realized that there was a severe need for a photography studio in the Chicago area that blended fine art, photojournalism, and fashion. She also envisioned creating a line of high end boutique albums that would be modern and ultra chic for her stylish clients. Hence Imaginative Studios was born.

Business Owner

Armed with a background in fine art and design and over ten years experience in the field, Gina brings an artistic eye and unique approach to each and every image. Photography and Design studies at the University of Massachusetts and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago earned her multiple Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Photography, Electronic Imaging, and Illustration.

Her work has been featured in publications like Photography Forum,

the International Library of Photography, The Knot, Chicago Social Brides, Brides Chicago, and ChicagoStyle Weddings. Prestigious art galleries including the New Bedford Art Museum, the Harbor Art Gallery, and the CVPA Gallery have also proudly displayed her photography. And as the founder of Females in Focus and a respected member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), Gina stays on top of industry innovations. It all serves to continuously bring a fresh outlook to her work.

Gina and her team are AMAZING! My fiancée and I knew right away we wanted her as our wedding photographer as soon as I saw a friends photos that she had taken earlier before. So of course, she was one of our FIRST vendors we booked! (We looked into over a dozen photogs and met with a hand full).
We recently took our engagement photos and both the fiancée and I were pretty nervous. Both of us were worried since we both think that we’re not very photogenic nor very natural in front of a camera.
We were honest to Gina and told her how nervous we were and she just smiled and said «don’t worry. just enjoy it and i’ll take care of making you guys look awesome» which she totally did! She got started right away and snapped a few photos and had me take a look and even i was amazed «wow Gina you brought the skinny camera today. dang, i look good!». The hour went by so fast and I really enjoyed the session. We got our photos within 2 weeks and Gina and her editor did an AWESOME, AMAZING job.
I can’t wait for her to do her thing on my wedding day! It’s an amazing feeling to have a photographer that you know will not only meet but exceed your expectations.
There are tons of photographers in Chicago but Gina has won over this picky girl’s heart :)

After seeing Gina’s work through a friend’s engagement and wedding pics, I simply could not hire anyone else for my own wedding. My husband hates having his picture taken but Gina was able to get some phenomenal engagement shots of us. Our wedding pics were great as well… when it came time to choose photos for the album it was so hard to pick, I loved them all! Gina is so sweet and kind, and really talented. Looking back the only thing I would change is the formal (posed) shots — I did not come up with a good list of formal shots I wanted in advance, and the transition between ceremony and reception at our venue happened differently than I expected. In all the confusion of that transition, there are pictures that were not taken, that looking back I wish I had. As far as action shots and portraits of the bride and groom, I am extremely satisfied!

Gina is absolutely amazing, not only is she super talented but she’s as sweet as they come. My business partner and I had some head-​shots taken with Gina and we couldn’t be happier with our photos! Her pictures are extremely artistic not your ordinary boring traditional photographs. I’ve already booked a few more sessions for my family and business!

Gina is sooo great to work with; shes is so sweet and attentive. We were absolutely impressed with her work the minute we saw it. She has such a great eye to take creative and photo journalistic shots. Plus, shes so quick !!
When she’s in action, you dont even notice her. Shes respectful of whats going on and is totally unobtrusive. Yet when you do spot her, you’ll notice that shes often in so many different positions to capture various angles and to give the pics more context and dimension. She really knows how to capture the subject or emotion and bring the pictures to life.
We are in love with all of the pro pictures we have !!
