We used Jake for our engagement and wedding photos, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! When we first looked up JPP studios we were so impressed with his photos and especially his candid shots. We were both concerned about looking/​feeling awkward in our sessions and that was not the case at all. Jake is so professional and easy-​going, he made it effortless and natural. So many of our pictures we commented to each other that we didn’t even notice he was there! There were a few hang-​ups on our wedding day and Jake was very flexible and helped take the stress away. He even came in handy helping my husband with his bow tie. Beyond that Jake himself is amazing to work with, our photos were unbelievable. I cannot say enough WONDERFUL things about Jake. We hired Jake to be our wedding photographer and he also did our engagement photos. Before the wedding, I tried to meet with 3 vendors for each service and then decide. I met with Jake first and then knew I didn’t need to meet with anyone else. When I met with him in his office, and teared up looking at some of his work, I knew he was what I was looking for.
Jake was as friendly and easy to work with as you would want. This is a person you are going to be spending a lot of time with on the biggest day of your life so far, and Jake felt like a friend. I’ve also worked with Jake since the wedding to design albums for our parents. He was unbelievably accommodating and worked so fast, and they turned out beautifully. Hire Jake immediately. It will be one of the best decisions of your wedding!

We used Jake for our family potrait session. He did an amazing job and is a natural with the camera. The pictures he took were amazing. We wanted pictures that truly captured our personalities without it looking cheesy! And he did just that!
One of my favourite pictures that he took was actually after we said our goodbyes and he took one last photo of my family and it was a beautiful photo. It was very natural/​simple photo but it was perfect. It shows how passionate he is and how he truly loves what he does.
Lastly, he was very organized, easy going and was flexible when we were running late to our photo session.

Jake is, hands down, everything you want in a photographer. He can capture real moments and emotion in the most beautiful way all while not even realizing he is there. Jake is an absolutely phenomenal photographer that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a wedding photographer, or just a photog for any reason! Jake took engagement pictures for my husband and I, and as soon as we saw his work on those shots, we knew we had to book him for the wedding. i cannot say enough good things about not only his work, but how great it was working WITH him… we had to re-​schedule our engagement pictures 5 times due to weather and even when some reschedules were super last minute, Jake was really patient and was always more than happy to reschedule. He also helped me look over my entire day-​of wedding timeline to make sure I had the correct amount of time allotted for bridal party pictures, grooms pic, etc etc, which I really see as going the extra mile. And of course, his work is incredible. You cannot go wrong booking Jake. by far the best vendor decision I made for our wedding!

This is the second year we have hired Jake Poehls to take our family photographs and he is amazing. I can’t recommend him enough. Hiring Jake Poehls was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made and are beyond elated that we were able to have him as our photographer. He has supreme artistic talent that is evident through his work. He tells a story through them. He literally captured every single, special moment. In looking through my photos, I wonder how he was everywhere without cloning himself all the while moving around without being hardly noticed. We have hundreds upon hundreds of photos that clearly document the day and the movement, energy and emotion are palpable in each one. I received Jake as a referral from a friend that had photos posted on Facebook from her wedding which were beautiful. I hired Jake for my wedding last August and was extremely happy with my photos. The photos were simply amazing and well worth the cost. I received so many compliments on the photos from both the engagement session and the wedding. Jake was very easy to work with, professional, friendly, and everything was done by the time he said or even before. I would definitely recommend him!

I’m afraid it’s Jake fault I spent the second half of my honeymoon on my iPad. Our wedding pictures were so truly spectacular — so perfectly captured the excitement and energy and beauty of the wedding, so clearly communicated the absolute JOY of everyone there — that I couldn’t stop looking at them. It’s true that it goes by so quickly that it’s all a blur, but his shots saved every minute of it for us. Hire this man — immediately.
Right away, Jake’s demeanor puts you at ease; I knew from our first meeting that we would be completely comfortable spending our wedding day with him. He was also entirely buttoned up and professional, checking in with me regularly, reconfirming details and making sure he knew exactly what we hoped for.
The day of the wedding, he blended in seamlessly. I had the comforting sense he was always there but not once did I really notice his presence or feel like he was in the way. And yet, he managed to be everywhere! He had promised that if we got snow it would be a good thing — and it was. He trekked into the middle of the street in a blizzard to get some of the prettiest shots I’ve ever seen.
We had a sneak peek at his favorite 50 shots within two weeks, which were so good I think I would’ve been perfectly satisfied if that was the entire album. When the finals arrived (before we even got back from our honeymoon), we had way more pictures than we ever imagined and they were all incredible and unique. Almost impossible to choose which to frame.
Six weeks later, my mom still sends me emails on a daily basis that she has «just finished looking through all the pictures again!»
Jake is a star. You will be truly ecstatic with his work.

Jake photographed our wedding on 8÷30÷13. Additionally he did our engagement photos earlier in the year. I can’t really say enough about how much of a professional that Jake is, not to mention that he is just a solid person.

Jake photographed our wedding in August 2013 and a portrait session prior to the wedding. We couldn’t have been happier with his work. The photographs were just stunning. We used a couple of the photographs on our wedding announcement cards. The number of compliments we received on the photos was quite incredible.
We wanted to include our dog in the photos as he is a very important part of the family. As everybody knows… working with pets is not always easy. Jake very patiently worked with us and we got some amazing amazing photos with him.
What was equally important to us as the photography work was Jake’s personality. Jake is friendly, easy going, soft spoken, gentle, patient and willing to listen to what’s important to us. We did not feel awkward or self conscious at all. and Jake also works very fast. We got our photos while we were still on our honeymoon!
I can’t think of another photographer I’d rather work with on all of our future special occasions.

Jake was extremely friendly and helpful for the entire process of photographing our wedding. I am amazed at his ability to capture the emotion of the moment so well while also remaining in the background. He was professional at all times, and he was also easy going and laid back.

Jake shot our wedding on Sept 14 and did an amazing job. We are thrilled with how the photos turned out and he was incredibly professional throughout the entire process. I just want to echo the similar sentiments and how impressed we were with Jake’s work for our wedding. It really is remarkable the emotion and reaction shots that Jake was able to capture. I have a video of us making our entrance to the reception down an escalator and you can see Jake taking photos of the crowd for the reaction shot, switching cameras in a split second, and then catching us right as we came down. Having a eye for photography is one thing, but he also understands how to be in the right place at the right time for those once in a life time moments.
Besides being an amazing photographer, he was really pleasant to work with. He was more than accomodating with our request for editing various photos and help with the album he made for us. You can tell that his goal was to make sure we were satisfied with the product he gave us. He definitely exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a photographer.

Picking a photographer for your wedding can be a difficult process. We had a long list of photographers who were recommended on Unilocal.Then we made a shortlist based on the portfolios that we liked and met with them. They were all great in their own right but Jake really stood out for us. We looked at books of photos at other companies and out of 1,000 photos each one had ~50 that were really good and would look great in an album. When we looked through Jake’s books that number was much higher and it would have been easier to count the photos that were not amazing.
We scheduled an engagment shoot and this was well worth it. We met up with Jake and he helped us to relax and brought us to the places that we had chosen in our neighbourhood. I think the key here was to trust Jake. What felt to us as pretty awkwad came out as amazing photos. He knows his stuff and chose great angles /​backdrops /​stances for us and everyone was hugely impressed with the resulting photos.
This helped when it came to the wedding day as we then had complete trust in whatever Jake wanted us to do. He was also very responsive and flexible with all of the requests that we had so we got the best of all worlds. We did all of the necessary formals which turned out great, but what we wanted and where Jake shone was the candid photos. He has a gift in his ability to capture true emotions. The pictures really show the whole range of emotions you feel throughout your wedding day and I know we are going to treasure them forever.
We could not have picked a better photographer for our special day and would highly recommend him to anyone.

I had seen Jake in action at a friends wedding and saw that he made himself invisible, yet took stunning photos. When it came to my own wedding, I talked with other photographers, but no one offered the quality and value that Jake did. Just as important, Jake’s personality and approach to planning and executing was so professional that I could easily cross «photographers» off my list of things to worry about on my wedding day.
From my first meeting with him through my wedding day, Jake answered every question I had and anticipated ones I would have.
