I went to Dr Szurgot only for a second opinion. I was previously quoted what I though was a very high price for an implant. I have been seeing him ever since. Dr. Szurgot is the first to tell you if any surgery requires an oral surgeon. He has great surgeons he refers to at Northwestern when needed. I’ve needed quit a bit of work and Dr Szurgot and his team are exceptional. Their care and concern is incredible. After my visit for a second opinion I went back for a teeth cleaning. I was extremely self conscious about previous front tooth restoration work that looked horrible. Dr Szurgot noticed it as well and recommended fixing it immediately. I was beyond thrilled that it could be fixed, and quickly. I had lived with that ugly front tooth for over five years, in minutes he had my front tooth looking natural and just like the tooth next to it. For that alone I will forever be grateful for his approach and professional skill. I didn’t know the front tooth could be repaired to look so natural. As far as the second opinion, it saved me over $ 6,000 and that included the oral surgery I needed prior to the implant. Besides having a much better dentist I saved a huge amount of money in the process. Both of their hygienists are fantastic but I’m an advocate for Betty, she does a great job and is always willing to take the time to show me how to maximize flossing and cleaning my teeth.

I’ve been using Dr. Szurgot for many years until I relocated to Seattle very recently. My family also uses him for their dental checkups. He’s always been cordial & interested in what I’ve been doing with my life. And his staff is also very friendly as well. Their location in Lincoln Park is a bonus too. I’ve always been satisfied with their dental services.

I’ve been going to this practice since I was a kid and I will likely be fitted for dentures by them when I’m 80!
As an adult there have been times when I’ve lost my dental coverage or have had a dental plan that wasn’t accepted by the practice, but they have always worked with me to provide me with excellent service and care while at the same time being flexible when I had to pay out-​of-​pocket for my visits.
The hygienist and staff go above and beyond to make you feel not only welcome but like they’ve known you for a very very very long time.
I always leave knowing that I’ve been taking care of better than any other dental practice in, not only the city, but also the burbs.
Dr. Szurgot, his hygienists, and his administrators genuinely care about all of their patients. You guys are the best and I owe my smile to you!

I spent many thousands of dollars on Dr. Szurgot’s dentistry over several years — had regular cleanings, and many crowns, inlays and onlays.
I could never get a decent cleaning there. Once after a cleaning I scraped a big glob of plaque off my front tooth with my fingernail, showed it to the hygienist, and asked her to do a more thorough job. She just didn’t seem to know how to get my teeth clean. Dr. Szurgot did not consider this to be a problem.
I stopped seeing Dr. Szurgot after he screwed up both right and left lower back crowns. I kept returning, for a total of 11 visits, because they kept falling off and breaking, or I couldn’t close my mouth right. I was never happy with them even after all that effort.
Dr. Szurgot was not careful about how things fit. He worked on most of my teeth, and I have had most of his work redone because it has become rotten underneath or around it, or, in the case of one crown, so thin a hole developed in it so the tooth rotted. The couple of crowns/​onlays that are left fit poorly, and have areas that hang out over the edge of the tooth, trapping food and plaque. I have only realized how poor his work is since I have changed dentists.
A friend of mine went to him for a few years and at one point was advised to have some very expensive dentistry on a tooth he felt was not a problem. He went to another dentist who told him the tooth was fine, so he has not been back to Dr. S. And the tooth is still fine several years later.
I think Dr. Szurgot is dishonest and has very little pride in his work. His main motivation is money.

My wife and I try to keep a eye on a 88 year old lady that lives on Fullerton near the lake. Her tooth broke in here denture and needed to be put back in. I googled dentists from her house and found four within walking distance. One being right on the corner of Fullerton and Clark just a short walk from her home. They wanted nothing to do with it, they said I needed to make a appointment and bring her in. They were not very helpful.
Continuing walking down Clark street I went into two other dentist offices with are actually in the same building as Dr. Kenneth Szurgot’s office is located and same thing. Didn’t want anything to do with it.
I went to the last office on the seventh floor witch is Dr. Szurgot’s office and talked to the nice lady at the desk and she said «shure» let’s let the doctor look at it and see what they can do. We’ll he came out within ten minutes and said he would be able to fix it for her why’ll I wait. How nice they all are at Lincoln Park Columbus Dental. No one else would even look at the denture. I recommend this dental office to everyone. And I will tell people I know in need of dental work to go here.
They had a several people in the office waiting area and didn’t have to help me with my walk in problem but the did. I am very great full to all the staff at Dr. Szurgot’s office. They are GREAT. And thank you to all from Greg White and Audry.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Szurgot for over 10 years. I have a mouth full of old silver fillings and he’s the first dentist that didn’t want to have them extracted and replaced just because they’re silver and insurance pays a portion. I also did an Invisalign contract with him, and at the end when we weren’t happy with the results, he started over at no additional cost. Even when I moved across the country, he made the appointments work for my schedule. Recently, he made two retainers (so I could compare them) for me and shipped them to my new address… at no additional charge. He’s a personable man that has always gone the extra step for his client. Only negative is the elevator in his office building is painfully slow.

I have been going to Dr Szurgot for many years. I recommended him to my boyfriend for Invisalign braces and he was extremely happy with the result. It took exactly as long as Dr Szurgot said it would (nine months), cost was exactly what he quoted (very competitive pricing), appointments were quick and easy, no waiting, and the result was as good or better than he promised because he followed the instructions and wore them constantly. His teeth are now straight and gorgeous. His only regret is waiting so long to do it. He now sees him for his regular checkups too and we are both big fans of the office. Easy to get in, never wait, and he respects my dental anxiety.

Worst dental experience of my life with Dr. Szurgot, including upper front crowns that were poorly shaped and colored.
He said I could visit the lab for a color check, but never did a thing to set it up. Got the call that my crowns were in and that was that; no color check opportunity. They were a bit off the color I would have chosen, and too bright. But worse, they were too thick and didn’t let my bottom jaw close with the top. These were replacement crowns; the prior set, done by a dentist a couple states away, had fit just fine. If the impressions had been done properly and the crowns checked ahead of calling me in for them, the results should have been different.
Dr. Szurgot dealt with the situation in the worst manner possible. He decided to install them anyway; he ground down the new crowns and the cutting edges of my own front teeth on the lower jaw just so he could get me out of that chair and move on. I was, and still am, disgusted with his lack of professionalism. I now have permanently blunted front teeth on my lower jaw because of Dr. Szurgot and his poor handling of that situation. For a dentist to install wrong-​fitting crowns and disfigure the client’s own teeth to make room for them, without consulting the client and having his permission, is unconscionable.
His office continually over-​books his appointments, leaving the doctor short on time to attend to his clients properly if a situation arises. As other reviews have mentioned, Dr. Szurgot doesn’t communicate well with his clients. Nor does he fully respect his clients or their wishes. He had zero concern for my wishes, comfort and happiness. I misplaced my trust in him and have never gone back.
From my experience, I believe Dr. Szurgot puts on a friendly face to his clients, but simply doesn’t have much regard for them. Once, while I was in the chair, conveying something important about my teeth, he completely ignored me while he invited a visiting doctor into the room — and proceeded to interrupt me so he could introduce the visiting doctor (who had nothing to do with my dental care, but was intruding on my time only to grab a quick chat with Szurgot). I was not pleased with the intrusion and interruption, but politely said «hello», upon which Szurgot actually said «that’s DOCTOR» — to let me know I wasn’t showing appropriate deference. Wow. Really? Reality check doc; the client in your chair deserves that same level of respect.

I have been going to dr. Szurgot for years, at has been at least 10 years if not more then that. The staff is great and Karen did the best cleaning job, she is no longer there, but I will continue to go. The work is always done quick and I really never have to wait long in the office when I arrive for my apt.
I have never had a problem with any work that they have done for me and I think their customer service is really great. But of my friends now go and they also like the place!
Easy street parking during the day… The building does have the valet, I think the valet is $ 8 dollars (now that the meters are so expensive it you r planning to be there for a bunch of work it is cheaper to do this. Sometimes during the day you will be able to find street parking on the side streets.

I am a very devoted patient, so after my dentist of many years retired, I was extremely concerned about finding a new dentist whom I could trust.
Dr. Szurgot is that dentist! He is even more thorough than my previous dentist, as the very first thing he recommended was to have my silver fillings removed. It immediately affected my overall health, plus aestheticallly, it was a huge improvement. He has a terrific, competent staff, also. His building offers valet parking, which is a big advantage in inclement weather.

Comfortable, friendly, professional, and thorough… if you value these attributes in a dental practice, Dr Szurgot delivers. My family of 4 have been patients for more than 6 years and consistently recieve excellent service. The staff remembers my girls and treats them so well, they actually LIKE going to the dentist. Notably, the office values their patients’ time as well— I’ve rarely spent time in the waiting room before being called in. Cleanings, fillings and my wife’s invisaline (sp) treatments have all been top-​notch experiences. We highly recommend Dr Szurgot.

First off the Dental Hygienists here are lovely! I loved going to Karen and she always remembered what we talked about and was nice to see her each time. She was quick and efficient which was nice.
Dr. Szurgot was fine– did a filling which needed to be filed down again so it could have been done better the first time but also felt some weird condescending attitudes towards his staff one time which made me feel uncomfortable. Also I felt the office manager talked too much and was inappropriate at times. I am no longer a patient.

I’m blown away by the bad reviews I’ve seen on Unilocal.I’ve been a patient of Dr Szurgot’s for almost 20 years and he’s always been excellent. HIs office staff is personable and caring. They’ve found me an appointment when I’ve had something suddenly need immediate attention. I recommend him highly and have sent several people to him who also continue to see him regularly. He’s great.

I can’t believe it was 18 years ago this summer, but I had a major tooth problem happen the day before I was leaving the country for 6 weeks. I was referred to Dr Zurgot who fixed me up with a temporary crown for $ 25. A couple months later, I came back to him and had the real crown put in. I’ve been coming to him since and my teeth are all the better for it. He’s a great dentist. I also am surprised to see such negative reviews.

We’ve moved back from Texas and are very excited to be able to see our favorite dentist again! 5-​star treatment and service from each member of the staff… felt like being welcomed home by family. I wish I could work here!

I started to see Dr. Szurgot about 12 years ago. I had to find a new Dentist because my lifelong dentist wasn’t available anymore for services and so I was referred to Dr. Szurgot by a friend. He and his staff have proven to be worthy of this referral and I have and continue to refer him to those looking for a Dentist. Not only are they, respectable and considerate, he and his staff will explain anything that you ask them too. His work and work ethic is impeccable and though not a dentist myself, my father is so I understand this field a bit. He not only takes care of his employees, which one notices as soon as meeting them, but he also takes care of his patients. My fiancé and I are very happy with the kindness and professionalism showed by Dr. Szurgot and his staff, especially, Rui, Karen and Effie, whom we’ve had the most contact with and we just wanted to take the time to thank them and to show our appreciation.

I’m surprised to see negative reviews here. I’ve had a few visits to their offices for cleanings and also for some bonding work. Not only did they help me budget a dental plan out for the next few years of cosmetic dental work that I have been wanting to get done, but they worked with my insurance company fighting claims so that I didn’t have to. My teeth look great and Dr. Szurgot and his staff are extremely pleasant and friendly. I have sensitive teeth and hate teeth cleanings and his staff went above and beyond to make it totally painless and a breeze. I didn’t have any cavity problems, so I can’t vouch for that, but for basic cleanings and cosmetic work they were total professionals. I am extremely picky about the look and health of my teeth and they did a great job in my opinion! I definitely recommend their offices.

Probably the worst dentist I went too. Sure he and his staff are smooth talking and have nice offices but that is NOT a reason to choose a dentist.
He’s too liberal in filling cavities and doesn’t give patients any explanation of what he’s doing. No choices were given about white for silver filling and no explanations were given. I regret going to him everyday. He was horrible and a second dentist I went to said that he didn’t fill the cavity right. I’m currently trying to figure out what to do. This is worrisome and Dr. Szurgot is horrible and caused the most suffering I’ve ever had at the dentist/​doctor/​etc.
I highly recommend AGAINST going to this dentist. Always go in for a cleaning first to see how things are before picking a dentist.
I hope things turn out well for me… do not risk your health. A minor cavity ache is nothing compared to severe pain daily because of a horrible filling.
