I’ve recently moved back to Chicago, and was searching for potential barbershops to get a haircut. I came across Kenny Mac’s Barbershop on Unilocal and after reading the positive reviews decided to check it out.
It was a nice experience! The owner himself, Kenny Mac ended up being the one to cut my hair and did a great job! The atmosphere and vibe is cool and chill, and Kenny Mac was very friendly and personable. I definitely recommend this place if you’re seeking out a potential barbershop or simply visiting and need a cut.

Moved from California to Chicago recently and the search for a top notch barber was on. Did some research online and found Kenny Mac’s right away. I called the shop and spoke to Kenny regarding availability. Showed up without an appointment the next day and Kenny gave me cut as good or better than my barber back home. If you’re looking for a precision fade with a blade beard and hair line up get with Kenny.

Today I decided to check out Kenny Mac’s barbershop and the whole experience was excellent. I loved how clean and comfortable the whole place is, and how professional they were. I was a walking in, and I only waited for 45 minutes, next time I will make sure to call first. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends.

Class acts here. Jimmy was my barber, real great guy, same goes for all of the guys there, including Kenny, the owner who introduced himself, knowing I have never been there before. Definitely a friendly and welcoming spot. My fade was on point. Jimmy offered his recommendations on what we should do for my haircut, and he hooked it up. I’m grateful that after 3 years of living in Edgewater, I finally found my barbershop. Real positive, good vibe atmosphere. Will be back!

Walked in from off the street with no appointment and was greeted immediately by Mr. K. M. I had been here before about an year ago and had an excellent experience then but today I thought I would take a moment to share.
Great communication between the patron and the barber. Kenny M knows his stuff and gets the understanding of what you are looking for in the cut before he starts and keeps you informed during the cut.
The place was clean and full of atmosphere.

I have a regular Barber, Fleetwood, he told me to come to his new location which is Kenny Mac’s. I was pretty excited because it’s right down the street from my house. I walked into the shop and was greeted and welcomed by everyone as if I was an old friend. I enjoyed the atmosphere and beauty of the shop. Fleetwood who is my barber does fantastic work. I got a shave which for 10 bucks and conversation. The shop is amazing! Thanks Fleetwood!

Top notch experience from beginning to end for only $ 25!!! Can’t recommend Kenny Mac’s Barbershop enough!
I walked in today and was greeted immediately and told that I would have at least a 30 to 45 minute wait (which I completely expected without a prior appointment). They were pretty busy but Jimmy got me in the chair within the time frame estimated and listened to what I was needing.
The haircut was expertly done by Jimmy, who takes great care and pride in his work. He was consultative, pleasant, and an expert at his craft. Everyone in the shop seemed to take a lot of pride in their work and in the business. The atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable.
I wound up leaving with the best hair cut I have had in years and Jimmy, Kenny, and the rest of the team at Kenny Mac’s Barbershop wound up with a new regular customer!
Go there for a great expert cut and fantastic relaxed atmosphere. Ask for Jimmy! He’s one hell of a barber.

If you’re in Uptown looking for a great haircut look no further. Kenny Mac’s is the spot to go. The barbers are very cool people communal and easy going. The place is clean with a welcoming vibe and best of all there’s no long wait to get in a seat. You can’t go wrong with any of the barbers but my guy is Fleetwood. He’ll get you crispy! Definitely will be a returning customer.

Guys are great. Good atmosphere and talented barbers. Just got a regular cut today as it was my first time, Going to be more complicated next time. Highly recommended.

My barber Fleet was great! Made sure I got the look I wanted & was a really cool dude to converse with. The shop wasn’t really packed when I got there so I was able to get in as soon as I arrived without an appointment (which is rare anywhere)! The layout of the shop and furniture is really nice too! Not gonna lie, I didn’t expect to be wowed because Chicago barbers tend to charge more than they should & results do not show its worth it but here they aren’t too bad! $ 25 well spent

I set up an appointment to get a cut during my lunch break. I walked in and was instantly greeted by the man (Kenny Mac) himself. I had an appointment with Fleetwood and they were equally professional and great guys. Had a conversation about his shop and his brand for what he was trying to do with it and you can tell the man has passion. My cut was flawless. I felt as if I could’ve walked up to Beyoncé and snatch her up from Jay-​Z. Lol
Cuts here are $ 25 which is nothing when you experience the quality of what you’re paying for. HIGHLY recommended this to anyone serious about their hair game.

So I’m several months in and my review remains the same. This is the best spot the northside has seen in years. Professional, clean, and a sharp cut most importantly. Everytime I walk in, I know what I’m going to walk out with. No inconsistency, no off days. These barbers are legit. Shop around if you must, you’ll be back.

Hands down, Kenny Macs is the best barber shop on the north side of Chicago. He took care of my groomsmen nearly two years ago and I’ve been a loyal customer ever since.
The owner and lead barber, Ken has a rare blend of charisma, business savvy and interpersonal skills that personifies his brand: where barbers and gentlemen meet. And to boot, Ken has assembled a talented cast of eclectic and equally skilled barbers who take great pride in their work.
And like the barber shops of old, it’s not uncommon to be graced with smart discourse around a range of serious to not so serious topics.
As such, it is without reservation that I recommend Kenny Macs for all of your barber needs.

This is exactly what you want in a barbershop. The space is clean and always well kept. The barbers are professional and VERY skilled – especially Jimmy, who I’ve been going to for years and he’s seriously one of the best there is. I recently followed him to this shop when he started working there and have been very impressed with this place all around. I’ve gotten a few cuts from Kenny himself, who’s also very skilled and he’ll listen to you and give you exactly what you want. Honestly I’ve watched all of the barbers here at work and have never seen them let a customer walk out looking busted.
And don’t get me wrong, despite the professionalism you still get that warm, chatty, boisterous barbershop vibe that everyone knows and loves. You can sit in the chair and have a friendly chat, or zone out watching the big screen TV. It’s a really friendly vibe. Everyone’s cool. And the shop’s centrally located for most. Though I honestly go a little out of my way to come here, so I really can’t recommend this place enough.

Cool guys here in this awesome Uptown barber shop!
I was looking for a local barber as I have a barber on the south side near where I grew up that I have been going to for years and I have a barber in River North near my job, but I did not have the convenience of having one close to where I currently live, Uptown. I tried a couple of them up this way, but this place seems more my speed. TVs for your watching pleasure while you wait for a cut and the place is pretty clean and isn’t all broken down like some shops up this way.
Good group of guys cutting and they are all funny. Nothing like a good barbershop where you can get a good cut and good conversation. You can make an appointment and they take walk-​ins. They also take credit cards.
