L&L Academy and Preschool

its 6^th month that we are sending our son to l and l academy. He is 19 months now. I dont have a comparison place, this is the first time we send him to a place away from us. But the 5 star is based on the intercation and learning curve of my son. He learns new thing and seems to be enjoying.
He des cries when he goes and comes back but then he was so used to staying with me that i think the change was oo big for him but he has gotten better each day.
The teacher always answer question, very adjusting with our schedule and there are fun activity all the time. Photos are send every friday and what they do are put up on noticeboard everyday. I am specially impressed with Miss Danielle’s flexibility and ease of conversation and Miss Lindsay’s dedication towards I can only say abut my son :)

L&L Preschool is a gem. Bright, warm and supportive are all words I would use to describe the teachers and support staff. My son’s best interest is always a priority when he’s at school. L&L creates a engaging, creative and safe environment for all of the kids. We are thankful my son has had a great 1^st experience with school.

My review is particularly about the teachers in 3’s and 4’s group that my family has personal experience with. The 3’s and 4’s team at L and L have been exemplary educators for our daughter. They are professionals who seem well supported in doing work that they enjoy, and they work so well together.
I’ve seen the 3’s and 4’s team exert an impressive amount of energy for the children: my daughter tells most anyone who asks what her school is like, «We go EVERYWHERE!».
They go outside every day that weather permits to the zoo, nature conservatory, different playgrounds, farmers markets, etc. There are frequent field trips to museums, the pumpkin patch, Lego Land, the Arboretum, the beach etc.
She really gets her exercise out and about the community, and likes knowing her way around the neighborhood and understanding about safety rules for crossing streets «on her loop». The teachers are creative about all the places the children get to explore, and weave a Kindergarten level curriculum into the day. There’s also nap time, and organic lunch catered in. After nap time there are different activities for children to do at different stations and these are well thought out and engaging pre-​math tangram like puzzles, art art and more art (art is a big focus here … I could write another page about all the art you will get in your cubby from your child … just know that the many ways your child is encouraged to create art are also impressive … toothbrush rubbings, ice rubbings, Spray Bottle Solar System, Wind Art, yes, they are allowed to get painty!), phonics/​photo matching cards, and many different play-​stations (kitchens, library stations, etc.).
Separate his and her bathrooms with rows of miniature toilets that only kids can fit are the perfect infrastructure to make it easier both for the children and the teachers. I also love the «great (divided) room» aspect of the classrooms in that it’s easier for the teachers to «pinch-​hit» for one another when one needs more support or is just having a bad day.
Curriculum update emails are extensive, and far more intricate than anything my husband and I ever received when our first child was in school. There are very specific activities planned for each day, and circle time is packed with discussions the set the foundation for how the children are feeling, where they are in time and space (calendar, season, holidays), and what’s happened and what’s coming next. Taking turns, listening to one another, and learning from one another. Parents are welcome to observe circle time which is always fun to do, and this is where you see how much your child is really taking having a chance to connect in a group their explorations with how they feel and what they know and understand.
It may be noteworthy that I’ve witnessed that our daughter’s teachers use a discipline style that is more in sync with «How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk» (our preference) or to a lesser extent «Smart Love Fam​ily​.org» than some of the other teachers I’ve happened to witness needing to correct a child in other classes in the past. Note that I have not witnessed anything at all out of line … just different in style. I’m glad that the style our daughter happened to get syncs with what our family has been learning to use at home, and this might be something useful to consider or discuss with different schools as you’re comparing your options.
We also are lucky to have more pictures shared with us than we know what to do with! I’m always amazed that the teachers who clearly work amazingly hard to teach and get our little ones exploring also take the time to photograph our children. You can tell by the shots they take that they love our kids, many of them are just so beautiful. This is really icing on a cake for parents, we so love the photos … it’s like being spoiled because we are at work and always are wondering «what is my sweet little gift doing right now?» It’s such a treat to login and browse weekly albums of her with her classmates out and about.
We love L and L. We’ve been there a full year, this is summer session now and our daughter is still happy there. We are really grateful for that.

I love L And L!!! My son has been a student at L and L for a year and a half already and he adores the school and all his buddies! He also loves his teachers Miss Danielle and Miss Kristen. Una, the owner, is very involved in the school and extremely approachable. When we moved our son at 2 yrs old from a nursery environment to L and L, we were concerned our baby boy, constantly nurtured at daycare, was going to suffer with the more structured Approach of L and L. We were wrong! My son is a 3 yr old who listens, follows instructions and knows more than any of my friend’s kids. He has so much fun at school, sometimes I feel he likes being at school more than at home! And he has fun while he learns and does countless art projects. They also do field trips and when is nice out they go to the parks, the zoo and in the summer, even the beach! I love how every Friday we get a weekly email with a detailed summary of what they learned that week and what is coming for next, pictures included! Lots of pics of the little ones playing and learning! I would do anything to keep our son in this school. I highly recommend this school.

L & L Academy Preschool is an AMAZING preschool that fosters learning in a creative, fun & loving environment that is structured too. Imagine your child doing yoga before nap time, taking weekly walks to the zoo, and eating a warm organic lunch just to pick a few wonderful aspects of why we chose L & L Academy Preschool:)Our 3 yr old son Nikolaj attends L & L Academy Preschool 3 days per week and looks forward to seeing his favorite teacher Ms. Danielle, his friends every day and he simply can not wait to tell us all about his adventures:) We had researched multiple preschools throughout Chicago over the past two years, including: Multiple Kinder Care locations, Noble Day Care, Creative Scholars, Peas In A Pod Daycare, and LPP, however between the high cost in all above stated locations, some are located in the middle of highly industrial area and children are not allowed outside, and not to mention no owner on site on a regular basis were of great concern to us!!! We are therefore thrilled to have finally found our match:)…great location, amazing staff, reasonable price, owner Una is on site and the kids go outside everyday:)We highly recommend L & L Academy and hope you will tour both locations to see it for yourself!

Excellent school and right on the budget. Organic food, baby yoga before naps, AND they brush their teeth after a meal! The location is ideal as well, there is a great playground right around the corner and Lincoln Park Zoo a couple of blocks down.
This is the first and only school of all we tried where there were no tears in the morning. Since day 1, she walked in and felt at home. The teachers are extremely nice on top of being professional; they actually pay attention to each child and attend to their needs. Every time I drop off my daughter, I get surprised at how serene that place is with all of those kids! There is no commotion, no one is screaming, crying. everyone is just very content and happy.
I also love their teaching methods — they learn through play, art and excursions. This develops a natural curiosity beyond the school walls — she comes home and asks questions that otherwise she wouldn’t have.
Overall, a great school which I highly recommend.
