A good place for fast and late night feed. I like its mexican sausage burritos, taco is just at average. Quick servcie.

La Bamba is great for late night food after the bars. If you have ever heard of Mighty Taco in Buffalo NY, and like it… GOHERE!

Not much to say about this place really. I came here at 2am with a bunch of friends after bar hopping in Lincoln Park and we wanted to get some tacos. They only take cash and everything on the menu is dirt cheap. With that said, the tacos weren’t that good and it was just because we were hungry. I don’t think that I would go to this place during the day, but it was Halloween weekend and it was really packed!

I went there on Tuesday for the cheap taco deal, and thank god it was cheap becuase it wasn’t worth much more than $ 2. Very good for drunk late night food because your blacked out and don’t realize what your consuming. I wouldn’t go there sober though… its not worth it.

So. I left my Unilocal Elie Event feeling really hungry. I walked up to Halsted Street and found La Bamba on the corner. Now. according to their sign in the window they have burritos as big as your head. Nah. did’nt want that but I had a major buzz and had the munchies and just wanted a couple of tacos. And. was I in luck or what? On Tuesdays and Thursdays they have beef tacos for $ 1.25 per taco. I really liked this. and. the 2 guys working there were so nice to me. Or maybe I was feeling no pain and they were really mean! Anyway. I took those tacos home and they were so very good.:) So. would I go to La Bamba again? Absolutely. Buzzed or not. I admire La Bamba! They were 10 on the taco scale.:) Cant get much better than that.:)

I debated between 3 and 4 stars, and am going with 4 because it’s as good if not a little better than I’d expected from this place. Simple, satisfying, reasonably priced, hot, open late, friendly but not too-friendly staff.

«La Bamba specializes in authentic Mexican food, served in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Our restaurant menu features made-to-order items that use only the freshest ingredients available.» These are words straight from the Aguas family: founders of La Bamba. Their word holds true. No freezers, no fryers, just fresh burritos fast. The salsa is some of the best I’ve ever had. I recommend a super burrito with steak, hot sauce, onion, tomato, cheese, and sour cream, with a couple hot sauces on the side for dipping.

This was seriously the worst burrito I’ve ever had. The steak was 100% flavorless as was the rest of the burrito. There was nothing in it that added flavor. This was NOT at 2am when all the drunks come in and nobody cares what it tastes like. This was around 3pm on a Saturday. We live around the corner from this place and it sucks that we will not be going back.

Everything I’ve ordered from La Bamba has been awesome. The Super Nachos(w/steak) are honestly my favorite meal I’ve ever had. If I could have one last meal on earth, it would be the Super Nachos from La Bamba. Their Chihuahua Cheese(named after the cheese’s place of origin — in Mexico) is the best thing about them. The steak is also great, and piled high. The home-made salsa is also among the best I’ve ever had. EASY5 stars.

St. Patty’s Day 2011 should just be renamed Blackout 2011 ‘cuz that pretty much sums up the experience. After getting into McGee’s around 8:45am, my friends and I started the day pretty solid, but our demise started approximately around 1:30. Oy. In case you didn’t know, Goldschlager is the absolute devil and no one should ever do shots of it THAT early in the morning. It never ends well. Anyway, somehow my friend and I ended up at Bamba’s around 3pm. I’m pretty sure it was his idea as he LOVES their nachos ‘cuz you can top it with cheese and avocado. Long story short… after I got home(and after a $ 23 cab ride, wtf?!), I realized I didn’t have my phone. Since my phone is pretty much my life source, I freaked out and gchatted/facebooked all my friends to see if any of them had my phone. I also made one of my BFF’s call Bamba’s to ask if they had my phone. After some arguing and having my friend verify that she knew what type of phone it was, the guys at Bamba’s told her they had the phone and I could come by to pick it up. Ahhh, relief! I love them for saving my phone, keeping it and fessing up that they had it! I’m sooooo grateful that I’m definitely going to frequent Bamba’s for my late night cravings now. When I came by to pick it up today, I made sure to thank them profusely. LOVE!

Burrito as big as your head? Burrito as big as my small paycheck. I just went to La Bamba, and I ordered a chicken quesadilla meal with rice and beans. They accepted credit card, so I opted to go to La Bamba instead of my tride and true favorite, Allende. MYQUESADILLAMEALCOST12DOLLARS. When did they raise their prices? I’ll never be back. Mexican food spots are a dime a dozen on Halsted in Lincoln Park. When I want dirty food, I want a dirty deal. You will not find that here. So long. Farewell. Auf Wiedersehen. Goodbye. Lo siento, La Bamba.

This place is a staple for cheap Mexican food. I prefer Tony’s Burrito Mex or Lazo’s but they don’t exist in Lincoln Park so La Bamba is an awesome alternative. Also important to note: cheap Mexican food(i.e. La Bamba) is amazing when you’re drunk and there are many bars in the area that can get you there.

OK, this place would have gotten a higher review if I was 10 years younger. It’s a clean restaurant and the burritos are«as big as your head», but I have been underwhelmed with the flavors of the normal steak burrito. Nothing to write home about. I wish they also offered a few more fixings for it. A bottle of hot sauce just isn’t going to do it for me. The service has always been good.

The amount of times I have frequented La Bamba should be no surprise to anyone. Why? 1. I love Mexican, 2. I eat when drunk, 3. I drink frequently. What do 1, 2, and 3 equal? La Bamba! The best part of La Bamba(for me) is that I seem to get double points on my credit card. I first discovered this in my e-mail box, telling me how many points I recived for«dining» at La Bamba on said date. The e-mail was a nice little refresher that I had indeed, dined at La Bamba… drunkely. Lovely, now my credit card is tracking my drunken bindge eating! That being said, I think I’ve only eated at La Bamba under the influence. However, that does NOT mean that my tastes were masked by alcohol, because I really do enjoy La Bama. They are super fast, friendly and have ample seating for all us drunkies. They also have deals on weekdays for those who actually stumble into La Bamba SOBER during the week, at normal hours. Who does this you ask? Eh, I guess lotsa people! I would do it, esp on the $ 1 taco tuesdays. Their tacos are and burritos are great, even when they make them for drunkards like myself. Their meat isn’t shady or gray and they have great salsa and hot sauce. Their nachos on the other hand tend to get soggy VERY quickly! Their menu is huge and you can get a lot of side options which I approve.

The food is good, not great; but the employees’ knowledge of the menu makes me stabby. No one here knows what is supposed to go on menu items. Every time I order they try to put random items on my order and want leave out the items it is supposed to come with. I feel like that super annoying customer watching their every move like a hawk, but I feel I have no choice they get it wrong 9 times out of 10. I don’t even know why they charge extra for avocado, they seem to want to throw that shit on everything! Maybe I have to stick to visiting while drunk, I care a lot less when they f-up my order. Props for the few parking spots in back.

Sure, impressive that it took longer for them to punch up my order in their computer and pay for it than it took for them to cook it. Then I paid for such speed by vomiting up dinner in a correspondingly swift 20 minutes later. Wasn’t sick; didn’t eat anything else all day(and felt fine); didn’t slam it down faster than normal meals. Unless the WATER was contaminated, the burrito(maybe the size of two large fists, not a head) made me ill. A warning may have been that the burrito sauce was leaking uncontrollably out of(and through) the tortilla, filling the place with a liquid the consistency of water. I could barely hold the thing and in fact threw out about a third of it because it was falling apart. What’s best, when I returned having evacuated by guts and told the two guys working the counter that their food just made me sick, and though I wasn’t angry at them, maybe they should take action — they just thanked me and went back to work, unfazed. Disgusting.

This was a total letdown! A place that says they have a burrito as big as my head, I am expecting it to blow me away. Sad to say, it did not blow me away. I like a huge burrito, but I would like it to have some sort of flavor. I added the hot sauce they give you to help with the taste and it still did not help that much. The best thing about my meal was the Root Beer in the giant, medium cup. They have a 99 cent special on beef tacos on Tuesdays. The guys that work there are pretty cool. I am assuming this is one of those places that is great while drunk. I will return once I am phucked up…

I walked in La Bamba once and took a whiff: Dirty feet stomping in a pile of crap surrounded by a pool of vomit that’s being eaten up by a mangy garbage squirrel. Maybe their food might taste different than it smells, but I walked right out and then gagged. For real. I was sober when this happened, so if I had enough brewskis in me to raise my body temperature then maybe whatever would be comparable to beer goggles but for my nose would have worked its magic. Just like it unfortunately did at Flash Taco. *Cringe* If you haven’t read that review yet then go for it.

I have eaten here both drunk and sober over the years and have never had a bad burritto. The steak burritto is amazing and there hot sauce is incredible. I decided to read the bad reviews because I was wondering why the stars were so low and I had to laugh at a few. Someone reviewed the free water and didn’t like it because it was warm. That cracked me up because the free water tap has always been warm. It is charming… plus you can’t review free water and give a bad mark against it… it’s free. Someone said that the burritto wasn’t as big as his head which is La Bamba’s motto. Um there are three different sizes and the largest one is really as big as someone’s head. This is the largest burritto I have ever found in Chicago. Also someone who really thinks Taco Bell is better then La Bamba should not be reviewing on Unilocal… two different worlds and disrespectful to the cooks who take pride in making the food here. Oh yeah and when you wake up the next morning not feeling good it is probably best to blame the alcohol and not the Mexican food you ate at 3am. We recently discovered $ 1 tacos here on Tuesdays, which is a great deal. The food has always been great here. The steak is also really good, some places use bad quality meet which is chewy and grisley. The La Bamba steak just melts in your mouth. I am getting hungry just typing this. I am sorry for those who gave this place a bad review because they have not had the experience I’ve had here!

La Bamba is hard core late night food. The burritos here are gianormous(is that a word?) and stuffed to perfection. The thing I love about their burrito is the fact that they add avocado, which is a huge thumbs up in my book. The place gets super packed after midnight Thurs — Sat, but if you can stand the idiotic LPers who frequent this place while drunk, then you are in for a treat.
