Haven’t returned in almost 2 yrs for a reason

I’ve been coming here for waxes for about 6 months now (I’ve also gotten one facial). Laura is great at what she does and is fun to talk with. I always leave with great results, and the prices are wonderful for the service provided. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a good esthetician — Laura is the best.

I’ve been going to Rita for my hair for almost 3 years. Before I finally «settled down» with her, I used to «salon hop» — in search for «the one» hairdresser who made me feel good about my hair. She listens to what I want done and does it, yet she also advises me what to do with my hair and I take her advice, which I have not regretted.

Great deal great service has coupon did facial. Great conversation cool music private room. Laura took the time to explain everything that was being done to me also gave me a few samples to check out personal tour of the different products I can obtain. The place is pretty easy to get to and I would call to make an appointment ahead.

I was so excited to get my chemical peel yesterday. I talked to people and did my own research (Google) and got really great reviews for the effects of peels. I have deep acne scars and was hoping to reduce them. Laura was the one to do my peel. I asked her about the different types of peels. She told me she’s going to do the mildest one. I told her I’d prefer something stronger for my skin. She declined and said maybe when I come back. (I wasn’t planning on coming back, I thought one treatment would do it). Also, after a chemical peel, the person is supposed to peel for a few days. I didn’t peel at all! I don’t think there’s even a difference in my skin’s appearance. It was more of a facial advertised as a peel. I feel conned. Waste of money!

This salon has very friendly staff, many spa treatments and tons of product for you to shop. Theresa is my hair stylist! LOVE LOVE LOVE her! Linda is my nail technician and she does a great job. All hair and nail techs are very accommodating and very talented.

I bought a Groupon for two no chip manicures. The person who did my nails was nice, but she kept making offhand insults about the color I chose. I would be fine if she said it once, but literally every 5 minutes she said how the color was not her style, and it’s too nice out to pick a color this dark. Okay, I am the client and you’re not the one getting your nails done. I felt awkward most of the time and wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Luckily, it was the shortest and most half-​assed manicure I have ever gotten. She didn’t even soak my nail, or cut any hang nails. She just used a cuticle pusher to push my cuticles to the desired shape but it hurt so bad and my nails started bleeding. The groupon said there’d be «essential oils» and a hand massage but there was none of that.
So, I guess it was a good thing my manicure was short so I didn’t have to stay there one more minute. I still have one more left on my groupon, but I doubt I’ll ever use it. Seriously, stay away.

Ive been coming to Lamaris for the past year or so. The salon is a little hidden, and I like that there is parking in the back. Ive been having Maggie cut and color my hair for several years and followed her here from another salon. She is fun to talk to and has great energy. She does a wonderful job with my cut and color, and I always trust her opinoin. She really knows how to get my hair to be that perfect blonde shade. I know my hair is in good hands with Maggie.
I have also started seeing Joann K for my eyebrow waxes. My eyes are beyond sensitive, and usually get red and water so much I look like I am crying. None of that happens when Joann waxes my eyebrows. Talk about a miracle worker! She allows me to sit up a little more, and the waxing is practically painless. I hate to mess with my own eyebrows, and she makes them look so great!

Great salon! A «hidden gem» in my opinion.
If you don’t know where the salon is, you might miss it! However, once I discovered this place, I never wanted to go anywhere again. The stylists and other staff are all super nice and make you feel at home! I always see Maggie. She is extremely talented at what she does! I don’t trust my hair to anyone else!

I went in for a Brazilian wax on a recommendation for Lamaris and had a good experience. Laura was my aesthetician and she was super friendly, made me feel comfortable and she used a hard wax (no cloth strips). This technique takes longer since she works in small sections, but it’s less painful and she gets nearly everything. Wish her service was a little less pricey ($ 50 not including tip) but she did great work.

I won’t name any names since I don’t want to get anyone fired, but I really wish I read some of these reviews before I told my granddaughter to try this place. She tried the Brazilian here and had a very similar experience with it being much more painful than usual and having to pick off pieces of wax later at home. I was going to come here for color and a cut, but will not be doing so now. I would not recommend this place to anyone else ever again.

I had a Brazilian here with a groupon, it was painful and took like 25 min. I went to TRIM in Wicker park that specializes in waxing and took 10 min and was much less painful.

Ok I have been seeing Laura for waxing for years. Today I decided to try other salon services. I met Rita she was excellent my hair looks great and the cut is one of the best I’ve had… This place just keeps getting better… I WANT TO MOVE IN !!

I made a same day appointment for a haircut and highlight as I had a groupon. I wasn’t sure who was going to be doing the job but when I got there I was immediately greeted friendly. Of course I was nervous and apprehensive never having highlights on my brown hair. Rita immediately made me feel at home and she was so nice! I was very pleased with the service, the end result was amazing!!! Rita was a very excellent colorist and you could tell she had many years of experience. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone!!!

Same as some of the other folks that posted, I got a deal for this salon on Groupon. I would have given this place 2** but I was extremely happy with the facial that I received from Diana. She was really sweet and very knowledgeable with some outstanding skin care regimen recommendations.
The reason why I would have subtracted a star would be because I went in with my mom who had the same GrouponNow deal. The deal was for a facial and brow waxing. I went first and my mom had to wait since Diana was the only one there doing facials. When I was done with my facial, I asked Diana who would be doing my brows. She then sent me to a young lady that threaded them.
The deal was for waxing, but threading was better for me, so no complaints. Afterwards, I was asked about form of payment for the brows. I had to remind them that it was included. Then young threading lady left the shop. I sat to wait for my mom. Once she was done, I once again had to ask who was going to do her brows. Diana looked around (I’m guessing for the lady that left), then said she would do my moms brows. I’m not sure if this was part of Diana’s job description, but she handled the situation nicely.
The jist of this is: I would return, mostly to give Diana my business because she was so personable. Otherwise, I was a bit put off by the seemingly uniformed rest of the staff. BUT, to be fair, it was a GrouponNow deal which is a deal only available for a minimal amount of hours on the day it’s offered, so maybe all of the staff hadn’t known about it.

I found a living social voucher for a Brazilian wax and decided to try it because I am going to Mexico. I looked at all the reviews about Laura and they are all 100 percent correct!
From the moment I walked into the salon everyone was so friendly and welcoming and when Laura was doing the Brazilian wax I felt more comfortable than I do when I go to the gynecologist! Everyone told me how uncomfortable Brazilians are and painful and this was not the case here. I would definitely recommend coming here for a Brazilian and using Laura! I will be back.

Yesterday, I scheduled at Lamaris with my favorite stylist for both a cut and full highlights.
I am in love with my hair!!! Laura H. is AMAZING!!! With Laura all of your hair worries will disappear. Yes, really.
I have fine, thin blonde hair which is very technically difficult to cut and style properly. She does such a wonderful job I wouldn’t dream of seeing anyone else. I asked for bangs and that alone is a challenge. I love them. I also had full highlights performed. They are gorgeous! I am so happy. I even received a compliment from a hair colorist friend today.
I have seen Laura H. 3 times for cut & style and 4 times for full or partial highlights. Every time I have seen Laura I have asked for minor adjustments in the color or cut: low lights and highlights, blonder around the face, or blonder everywhere. She knows exactly what I am thinking and nails it every time. Additionally, they always grow out perfectly while looking very natural. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I have not yet had any spa services performed, but I have been told to see the other Laura for facials and Sam for nail services.

I bought a Groupon for this spa for a Brazilian Wax. I had previously been going to a spa out in the suburbs and I wasnt too impressed but i just didnt know where else to go. I would always leave with stray hairs and in pain. I figured for $ 25 groupon I would give this spa a try. LAURA IS AMAZING! I swear I will never go to another spa for a wax again. She also did my eyebrows and told me not to pluck them bc shes going to shape them for me & fix them.
Laura makes you feel 100% comfortable while remaining professinal at the same time. She is also the owner. I will recommend to her everyone and anyone who needs a Brazilian wax or any waxing service for that matter.
She gives you disposable panties so you dont get any wax on yours, plays soothing music, wears gloves, and never double dips her wax stick! she also uses hard wax which is much easier on the skin! Especially for people who have sensitive skin. I even think the hard wax brazilian lasts longer than the regular wax brazilian that most spas use.
All in all this salon and spa is the best i have found for Brazilian waxing and ill never go anywhere else.

I’ve been here once last month, just before they moved to the new and better place… and 3 times this month. I got a haircut and highlights from Joanne. I really love my hair! I originally wanted to dye my hair light brown. My natural hair color is black. Joanne suggested getting caramel highlights instead, to make it not such a drastic change. I am so thankful and happy that I followed her advice. I am truly satisfied! Plus I got a free shine application with my highlights as part of their Moving Special. Perfect score to Lamaris Salon. Yay!
I also like their Waxing Service. I got my brow wax from Laura 2 times already. The first time I came in, she told me not to pluck my brows for 3 weeks. She wanted them to fill in and grow a little bit, so she can better shape it next time. I tried to shape my brows a month ago and it was not nice. Hahaha! I guess I have to leave it to the professionals. I originally asked if I should come back every 2 weeks, but instead she said to wait for 3 weeks. I was impressed that she just did not say yes, so I can come back more often and therefore spend more money. I felt that she really cares for what is best for clients. Kudos to Laura! She is very good and very gentle. She uses wax for sensitive skin. I have sensitive skin and did not have any reaction to the wax. My brows were beautifully shaped and more even!!! Again, perfect score to Lamaris Salon.
Last but not the least, manicure and pedicure. I had a no chip manicure 2 weeks ago and it is still intact and nice up to the present. It is supposed to last for 3 weeks. My pedicure is still nice, no problems at all. My nail lady, Linda is very nice and chatty. She just makes me feel comfortable and relaxed there. They now have a new massage chair! It’s pretty cool! It massages your back, even your bottom! Hahaha! It feels kinda weird at first. Anyways, going back to my nails review, Linda was very knowledgeable about the process and was able to explain to me how the no chip manicure works. I gouged my index finger nail right after I was done. I was trying to get my keys out of my pocket. She had to soak it first while wrapping my finger in an Aluminum foil, then she had to redo the whole process for one nail again. I was extra careful after that, and now I’m still happy about my mani.
I asked if they are going to offer massage in the future. They said that they are currently working on it. Right now, they have acupuncture and cupping. I will wait for the massage service and let you guys know how it is. I also want to add that the first time I came here, I used a Unilocal deal. They honored it and even gave me a $ 5 discount if I come back to their new salon after they move. So, I luckily got a free hair shine and 5 dollars off!
Overall, I give Lamaris Salon a 5 out of 5! I love this place and the workers are nice too!
