I can’t say enough good things about this establishment. Rich, Sandy, and the guys are always helpful when I am having an auto related crisis. They go above and beyond with their level of service and never lose sight of the small details.
I am a long time customer and will continue to work with them on everything from oil changes to tires to new struts. These guys know their business!

i asked for used tires they got them in a week and called me back they did not forget about me they gave me a good price i told them my money was tight a bit packed with people but worth the wait grate people down to earth

People at Lucas tire are great !. Took my 96 Ford Ranger in today for a wheel alignment and it was done in no time. They also informed me of other things that should be done as preventative maintenance. Had a Life time alignment deal with Firestone (Elston & Addison) and they told me they could not do the alignment because both front wheel bearings were worn. Firestone wanted to charge me $ 420 to replace the bearings. Checked the wheel bearings myself and confirmed by the Lucas mechanics that no bearing replacement was needed. Last time I will go to Firestone for anything. They are scam artists! It’s good to know there are still trust worthy shops like Lucas Tire & Auto Care. I’ve been a customer of Lucas Tire & Auto Care for years. Every time I’ve visited they have exceeded my expectations. I recently purchased tires for my car and without asking they beat every other quote (online and brick and mortar) I received right out of the gate. They are installing the tires today, and the customer service and attention to detail is unparalleled. For example, Rich, the owner, offered to assist me with the drop off process by PAYING for my cab from Roscoe Village to my place of employment downtown. I felt bad taking him up on his offer, but these days I can’t think of any other company that would offer to do this. It is a family run business and you can tell everyone working there truly cares. If you are looking for a full-​service auto shop look no further. Lucas Tire & Auto Care can be unequivocally trusted!

I would recommend this place to anyone due to their friendly and attentive service! I went in there on a Sunday (this was one of the very few places open) for a nail I had in my tire. Even though they were busy and had other customers ahead of me they still got me in and out of there and accommodated my needs. The guy at the front desk, as well as the mechanics, were personable and nice.
I will be going back here again !

Great & TRUSTWORTHY service. It’s so hard to find a car repair place that doesn’t make me feel like I’m getting ripped off or duped. They fixed a few things on my car (minor) & changed the oil & air filter. Their service was fast & they are very nice there too. I regret getting new tires at Costco recently– I wish I would have gone to Lucas Tires for much better service & price. Thank you Dan & your crew!

I brought my car to change a tire, a rim and balance the 4 wheels. The prices are in the average and the owner was very flexible and very helpful to discuss the possible solutions. Will come back!

Horrible place. Went because I had a flat. Told me tire wasn’t repairable (later found out it was.) When they realized they weren’t selling me a new tire, they charged me $ 40 to mount my spare, $ 10 more than their posted price and equal to what they would have charged to actually repair the tire, which they did not do.
Also, when it became clear I was unhappy with what was being charged, they basically said they’ve got customers spending $ 1000 on sets of 4 tires so they really don’t have the time to bother with someone that, at best, is getting one tire.
So, a shady shop that tries to sell you things you don’t need that then wouldn’t even be happy doing that.

I passed by to fix tyre pressure sensor. I drive my van daily for business and needed to get it done asap. All other tyre services were either booked or closed cause it is Sunday. They got it done within 1 hour. The sensor cost me $ 120, I did not have a chance to compare the price with other places cause needed it to be done quickly. Thanks for urgency.

The staff at Lucas was friendly and helpful. They were kind enough to pull the receipt for my past tire purchase when I could not locate it to check on a warranty. Though my tire was not covered, they had a tire in stock and had me in and out in less than an hour. I recommend them over Costco or any other national chain for their service. Keep up the good work!

My dad told me about this place, so you know it’s going to be good. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. He didn’t try to upsell me, just gave me the facts and looked for extra discounts, rebates and services he could throw in for free. Super quick service and they beat Costco pricing by 5%. That’s a good deal!

Nope. Lucas and I broke up — for good this time.
I live nearby Lucas Tire & Auto Care, and over numerous years my husband and I have spent thousands of dollars on various car repairs; some of which have been overpriced. We’ve had some major repairs done here as well as quick maintenance jobs like oil changes. Lucas mails out postcards, email discounts, birthday perks (I think it’s a free oil change), and we liked them up until the past few times we took our car in for repairs.
The first time something fishy happened (which should have ended our relationship immediately), my man picked up the car in a hurry and parked it for the night not investigating things too thoroughly, because ideally you shouldn’t have to. He did, however, notice that there were 40+ miles on the car and he had reset the odometer to zero prior to dropping the car off. We went to use the car a few days later and discovered Pokemon card wrappers in the back seat, our phone car charger and tire gauge was missing along with miscellaneous change that we keep in the middle console. Someone obviously went for a joyride with a Pokemon fan in need of our spare change and goodies from the console. I was pissed — we were traveling at the time we discovered this and agreed to address it when we got back to town. That never happened. We got busy, the issue was put on the back burner, and we never said anything which was foolish on our part.
Just recently we were on another trip when the car started making loud noises and something was clearly wrong — it turned out to be the rear bearings. We took it to Lucas mostly out of desperation and urgency since we needed the car repaired quickly and this issue could not be ignored. I picked up the car after our repairs were finished a few days later, and as soon as I got in I checked the middle console. IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. As if someone was playing a joke, every single penny (and all the quarters and other loose change) was gone. The two tire gauges we had stored in there were stuck between the driver seat and the console, and paperwork and the vehicle booklet that had been stored in the glove box was on the passenger side floor. What the hell? It looked like the car had been ransacked. I walked right back in to the shop and explained to the two gruff women behind the desk that this was now the second time that all of my change and other items had been stolen from the car while at Lucas. I was upset, disappointed, and told them I can no longer trust this business. I was asked if my windows were broken, and then was told that sometimes they might forget to lock the doors while the cars are parked out on the streets. The older woman tried to make light of the situation by making a joke about needing quarters for parking and laundry in the city and she wished she had a roll to give me. I was reimbursed a modest amount ($ 20 from a big wad of cash) as reconciliation and was reassured that they will review their cameras but that all their guys (except for one) have been there a long time.
This goes beyond our car change being stolen. It’s an ethical issue. It’s a lack of respect and professionalism. Who knows what else happened to our car without our knowledge or permission…
We will never be back to Lucas and we are truly disappointed that this kind of unacceptable behavior occurs at this business.
Are there no trustworthy mechanics anymore?

It doesn’t deserve the star I’m forced to give it, but nothing can be worse than this place.
Since no one in the area carried snow tires in our Volkswagens unique size, I bought some tires on tirerack (which came with a mail in rebate for a winter utility kit!) and had them shipped here, since they were the closest and cheapest «recommended» installer. What a mistake it was.
Our tires weren’t there yet, so they told us they would match the price with some they had in stock. Unfortunately they didn’t tell us the ones in stock were not the correct size for our vehicle, and installed them anyway.
They are slow. And I mean snail slow.
Attitude from the woman? It’s the worst I have ever encountered, she truly is a mean person.
They dinged our car, took a chip out of the paint. We told them about it, and then they said «after reviewing the tapes we didn’t touch it» but when I asked to see the tape? Nope, I was not allowed. I don’t think they actually have cameras that tape. They finally offered to pay for the paint touchup, but when I went to their «body shop» the guy had no idea and couldn’t get Lucas on the phone to foot the bill.
Always needlessly trying to upsell every customer that comes in the door.
Tried to charge us more than the price on the board for a 4 wheel alignment — but they don’t have a laser alignment machine, even though he said they did. I know what a laser 4 wheel alignment is, as I take my Porsche to a reputable shop.
I urge everyone to go elsewhere! Ashland tire, Costco, Americas tire, ANYWHERE ELSE!

Bought a groupon for an oil change at Lucas because I was going to be in the area yesterday. Called at 11am and Sandy (front desk) got me in at 11:30. Awesome. Speaking of Sandy, I’m not sure why there’s even one complaint? She was very nice to me. She offered recommendations for restaurants in the neighborhood while I waited to have my oil changed. She’s sassy though — but I mean, what do you expect? She runs the front desk at a tire store and is surrounded by mechanics all day? You want someone to bake you cookies, you should probably call your grandma…
Anyway, the service took about 75 – 80 minutes. Not the quickest but definitely not the slowest. I got the bill and was charged an extra $ 14 over my groupon because my Jeep took 6 quarts instead of 5. The groupon didn’t explicitly state a 5 quart max but it’s $ 14…whatever…others might want to take note, though.
Sandy’s great, the mechanic personally came out and complimented my Jeep — that was cool — said everything was working fine. My wiper fluid light was apparently on when I left but I didn’t notice until I was about a mile down the road. Didn’t go back. I can probably just stop in a dealership to get that fixed.
All in all — a good experience and would recommend Lucas Tire for an oil change.

The worst:
— came for a flat tire. was quoted $ 45!!! I get holes patched for $ 7!
— the technician moved at a snail pace
— they said they can’t fix the tire because it was previously patched on the shoulder, when the new hole was on the central threads
— the owner or manager then tried to charge me $ 20 when his list price on display said $ 10. Frigging swindlers!

Had to replace all 4 tires on my 2011 Hyundai Sonata hybrid due to dry rot. The dealer wanted $ 750 for replacement for all 4, wheel balancing, and alignment for Kumho Solud 26s rated 40,000 miles. I got a set of Goodrich uniroyal arctic all season tires, rated the same, 40,000 miles, wheel balancing and alignment, out the door for $ 450, tax included. Who can beat that??? Not even walmart, who wanted $ 450 for their cheapest tires, with wheel balancing but no alignment. Cheap prices, family run, and I always prefer dealing with a family run business anyday rather than a corporation! Very nice people and very friendly, got a $ 25 off coupon also for future service which I plan to use soon. I highly recommend this place and will use them again!!!

My wife was driving my car on a Sunday when the alternator and battery died at the same time while on Montrose Avenue.
I searched on Unilocal for places open on Sunday and came across Lucas tires. I spoke to Rick on the phone who seem to be ready to take The car in and replace the alternator that same day.
Rick began filling the paperwork out on the phone and even give me directions around the construction on Western and Addison. Positive experience so far.
This place is a family run business and therefore you get decent attention. The family really tries hard to be competitive in this corporate owner world. Their prices are generally pretty fair and in the ballpark and they offer plenty of coupons and discounts that you can find pretty easily online and at Unilocal.
Upon pulling away I realize that one of my brake lights was out. They noticed it too right away and replace the bulb at no charge. Rick also forgot to charge me for an air filter but waived it once he realized the mistake.
That’s the kind of service you get from a family run business.
I did find a random bottle of water in the car and the two caps for my tires were missing.
Minor inconveniences but once I mentioned to them they apologized and were quick to fix. Not a perfect experience and attention to details could be a bit better but a pretty darn good one for the city of Chicago.

Reasons this place blows ass:
1. The woman at the customer service desk gives unnecessary attitude to every single customer that walks in the door.
2. They quoted an «out the door» tire price over the phone, did the work, then presented me with a bill that added on installation, balancing, and other charges.
3. They took my car for a spin without asking me.
4. When i brought my car to a competent mechanic for something else a week later, they found a heavy wrench that the geniuses at Lucas had left under my hood.
There is absolutely no reason to bring your car to Lucas Tire.

The owner is a liar. They are the ones who used the term «out the door» on the phone. They did not pay the tax or reduce my bill in any way. My car is in brand new condition and is not a shitbox like he’s implying. They also opened the hood while doing my work so he is literally just full of shit. He’s probably lying in his responses to everyone else. Take your «tape» and shove it Lucas.

Had a real bad experience here when we dropped off our car– yea we had a lot of things that need maintenance, but if you say you fixed the car and we drive it away, then it should at least be able to start the next day.
They wanted to charge us more money to do some additional ‘diagnostics’ after their initial charge for mis-​diagnostics. We declined the offer to open us up to more charges with a «no thanks and we would pick the car up when we get back in town». We then got hung up on and they did the work without our permission and then offered to ‘disconnect’ our electrical system unless we paid.
Like most people I don’t expect much from a mechanic but this was too much BS to fix a small electrical problem. Add on a phone call where they tried bullying us over the phone and then in person they refused to take a credit card. Uncool but congrats on making it on to my exclusive ‘Banned for Life” List
