Lush Wine and Spirits

This is my version of heaven on earth. This place looks and has the vibe of a library except with wine bottles on the shelves. My type of place. You can drop in to get a bottle to go or lounge around on the leather couches with your bottle for the entire night. The staff is very approachable, knowledgable, and respectful of any budget. Also, don’t miss out on the food! Monday is fried chicken night and it’s incredible. Finally, I’ve heard dogs are allowed inside but haven’t brought my girl in yet. This is a great place for reading/​studying with a glass of wine, a date night, hanging out with friends, parties… just everything!

I love this place. You can buy bottles from the store section or get wine by the glass (although I recommend by the bottle $$-wise). The atmosphere is relaxed and fancy at the same time, no idea how they do it but they do. Good for getting work done or for going out for fun.

Just like a Starbucks for alcoholics. The ambiance here is wonderful and the wine, beer and spirit selection is top notch.
All of the employees are helpful and knowledgeable and the chairs encourage taking a quick nap. Highly recommended.

Anything I write isn’t going to do justice to how great of an experience my date and I had here. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy, with enough space for everyone to spread out and find their own niche. Combine that with the excellent service you receive from the waitstaff and bartenders and you have a winner. The staff here knows their alcohol and loves to share that knowledge with others. I got the whiskey flight and instead of just grabbing whatever was close by, the bartender came over, sat down, and chatted me up about my tastes so he could hand pick the best flight for me (and give me a detailed history lesson on each). I’ll definitely be back.

We just had a big group birthday party at Lush. It was really fun and the atmosphere was great! The wine flight and whiskey flight we had were great! The staff was friendly. The serving portions that we ordered for the group were pretty small but everything else was great!

I recently walked in here to get a nice bottle of wine and the gentlemen working (I wish i remember his name) was extremely helpful! The staff is clearly well versed on the product and selections at hand. He also went over and beyond to tell me about the «special» events they put together on week day nights to help drive more business through the doors. I’ll definitely be back… great location, good wine & people. Its’ a win-​win in my book!

I often come here to buy wine, or sit and have a bottle in their comfortable space. Staff in general are friendly and knows wine well. Only complaint is that they need proper ventilation. The other day they were frying bacon or ham (not good for a vegetarian) and the place smelled awful… The smell stayed on my clothes also when I left.

The Monday special: fried chicken, bacon biscuit and cole slaw for 17 $ sounds great, but the fried bird was served at room fing temperature (which is how they normally serve)… Added it to it, the draft beer (bells malty ale) was 12 $ a pint! Wtf! Overpriced BS!
On the whole I was disappointed. It was more pretentious and a rip off for a draft beer n chicken fried in a sauce pan!

Shopping for a beer/​wine snob? This place is probably the best in the area to grab hard to find flavors for a dinner party, barbecue, or any other special occasion.
There’s wall to wall wine labels ranging everywhere from 10 to 70 bucks and for beer they sell them by the single so it’s easy to custom make a sixer of suds for the beer geek you know. Great to go, but if you feel like sitting for awhile they have some pretty comfy seating that you can sit, sip for awhile, and enjoy the smells of rich mahogany.
They do all sorts of cool tasting events and you can bet that I’m gonna be at their champagne and chicken Tuesday the next time I can make it.
Overall it’s a great stop in whether you know what you want or just feel like browsing for a little bit.

On a recent trip to the Midwest, we stayed in West Town. Or maybe the Ukrainian Village. Probably West Town. We walked into downtown several times. That might have been a mistake for my inner thighs and the balls of my feet, but I always giggled a little bit when we passed a giant, flickering sign that read LUSH in giant capital letters. The letters were held up by work ladders and the sun was shining awkwardly on the windows, so I assumed this place was under construction and wouldn’t be open during my stay.
I was wrong!
We had to go after that. And so we did.
There’s a big bar in the middle that splits the spot in two areas. We opted to sit on the side with lounge furniture. Had a bottle of wine that they suggested. Actually, I think we picked it out and they told us it was great. It was not a great bottle, but it was affordable and not too bad. A tempranillo that was pleasant, but not quite what I was hoping for. We didn’t eat anything, but there was a small selection of things that I wasn’t totally interested in.
Service was friendly and helpful. They weren’t overly attentive as we were drinking, but frankly, we had ordered a bottle and probably didn’t need to be attended to. I can refill my own glass. They were just there to be helpful when needed, which is good.
Random note, the LUSH sign makes a noise as each light bulb flicks on/​off. It was actually cool. We were sitting right next to it and it was a neat ambient sound that you don’t always get to hear.
The real deal at Lush may be the $ 10 section. We grabbed another on the way out and it was pretty good. As before, not an amazing wine, but a great buy for a $ 10 bottle. If the quality of that section is consistent with what we had, then it’s probably worth looking into more often.

I was invited by a few friends to grab drinks at Lush. I expected it to have a bar-​like atmosphere, but I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t! It’s a great place to grab a cup of wine with a few friends or for a relaxed date. We were suggested a sweet white wine, Penelope, & loved it. For $ 11, you can take it home or open it up & have a chilled drink right there!

This place is adorable. I stopped by today to get a bottle of red wine. Their prices range from $ 10 to $ 50 and you can either pick wine to go home with you or open it and drink at the shop with your friends. I had a very pleasant experience. Parking can be a little crazy but with little patience something always comes along.

This is a great place for a first date or catching up with a girlfriend. You go and pick a bottle of wine off the wall and drink there right there. They have some little snacks too.
Overall great concept. Nice job Lush!

Stumbled on Lush while searching for a place to buy craft beer. Love the space! There are a couple of areas with big comfy chairs that look perfect for kicking back. Love the selection of wine, spirits and beer. Jay was extremely helpful. He made some great suggestions and his knowledge was top notch. There is something for any budget. I got a bottle of wine to take to a party and it was a great find.
I will be going back to Lush…

Tried to go with a group of friends. They had a lot of arbitrary rules about how they would serve at what times, and where we could sit at what time. Not worth doing business with someone that doesn’t want us there. We left before we bought because of coming into rudeness was so off-​putting.
Update: the manager reached out about our bad experience, and promised a better experience next time. I’ll leave it at the middle until we can confirm its true.

I came here with some mommy friends for a wine tasting. I was pleasantly suprised when I walked in. It is small on the inside, very intimate. If you want to buy a bottle of wine or some beer, go to the right. If you want to sit down and eat some appetizers while drinking, go to the left. Such a cool concept.
Our sommelier was Katie. She was so sweet and helpful and answered our questions so we could understand! We had 4 different Rose tastings, each one very different from the last. We also got a cheese plate to share which was so delicious.
The reason for the docked star is the price. It was a bit pricey for my liking. It is a boutique in Chicago, yes, but $ 35 for 4 wines? However, they do have a $ 10 wine selection which is right up my alley :)
I will definitely be back, and will check out the one in Roscoe Village. Great experience, friendly service and beautiful décor. Pricey, but two thumbs up!

However! Do not sit down for charcuterie and cheese because you will be ignored if there is someone who «knows someone»
Or a large party to be taken care of. I payed the same amount as others but I was snubbed. Slow service, high prices for food and poor service unless you beg for attention.
I will come back for a good cheap $ 10 bottle but never again to sit down and eat.

Not a fan.
I’m new to the neighborhood and they would have had my regular business if they weren’t rude both of the first times I came in.
Annoying selection. It would be great if the store actually carried the spirits they have behind the bar (like bonal, etc.). Or had a few sakes and sherries that were reasonably priced. Or carried any other vermouth than like 3 niche brands. Or even, like, a bottle of Campari.
Got a nice bottle of wine, but wasn’t a fan of the attitude. After I asked for a couple things they didn’t have, the girl said, «sorry we’ve really let you down today,» in a way that implied I was being a difficult customer.
To me, good customer service would have been like, «you live in the neighborhood? What are you looking for? Maybe we can order a bottle or two for you.» Would rather find another place in the neighborhood without the unfounded snottiness.

There is something about a boutique wine store. It is so intimate and personal.
We arrived during a day where they were sampling white wines. It was an amazing experience for Chicago. The person serving seemed to know a lot and was happy to tell us about what we were drinking. There were serval other people in the bar as well and she was busy bouncing back and forth and it seemed like no one was left hanging. That goes a lot of the type of customer service they offer.
She also informed us that the owners really like Syrah wines which is my favorite. She pointed out the several brands and price differentials between them. The beer selection is also elaborate. For some reason, you can go in here and buy 1 to many bottles of beer. So if you are heading to a near by BYOB place, you can buy a couple of brews to take long.
And we are definitely coming back when they serve food. She brought out some deep fried chick peas which were pretty good and she stated that the actual food they serve there is way better.

Fantastic! Definitely want to go check out their other locations. We went here while waiting for a table at Ruxbin (2 hour wait). We were not disappointed at Lush. One side is a wine shop and the other is a wine bar/​bistro. The ‘glass’ chandeliers are so hipster functional and cute!
Don’t let the wine prices fool you. The pours are 250ml that come in beakers. Tres chic. You will definitely get enough to drink. Even if wine isn’t your thang, they do have several beers on tap as well.
We had the French cheese plate (~$ 20) and it was so tasty. Just the right amount of bread and fig spread. We also got a selection of sausage (hee hee) and it was so good. Get the duck sausage for sure! There were other food options as well, I know they were cooking up some eggs while we were there and whatever it was they were making it smelled good :)
Our service was excellent, we will go back!
