Mac ‘n Cheese Minglers

Such a great event, a relaxed inviting atmosphere where you’re sure to feel comfortable and meet new people. I was very nervous going in as I’m somewhat shy around people I don’t know, but after a few minutes, I felt like I know everyone. Saya throws a great party!

Saya was a great hostess. It is always nice to meet new, interesting people in a welcoming setting.

The Minglers are definitely a great way to break up the seemingly monotonous weekend experience.
I’ve gone several times and have always ended the night late with some interesting conversations and acquired a few new budding friendships.
The thing that’s nice about the setup is that no one knows anyone but Saya. This is great because when you walk in as a stranger and see clusters of people, they aren’t established clicks that you’d feel awkward joining. Instead, they are strangers that just started talking so it makes the whole experience feel very inviting and much less intimidating.
And by the end of the night, it’s pretty hard to believe that everyone started as strangers based on the interactions and over scene. It’s a cool transition to both watch and be a part of.
Highly recommend try it. Or you could just continue going to bars to meet interesting people…

Its one of the greatest things to do on Saturday night! I have been to two minglers and I have have a good time! Saya is fantastic host and she bravely opens her own house for the parties. Of course, she is the most interesting person there. The only downside, which Saya can’t really control, is that you never know who will show up and mingle. Like I said, I have been to two and the first was fantastic and the second was ok. It all depends on who shows up and if they are duds or not. My first ended at 4am, the second, 12am so there was a difference.
Still, I have not found a more interesting way to find friends, jobs, dates, and others! You’d be suprised what others will say when you don’t know anybody.

I couldn’t be more on the opposite end of Ethel’s experience. I’ve attended four mac ‘n cheese minglers, and I am always impressed by the eclectic mix of people who I’ve met. They’ve ranged from lawyers to comedians to artists and everything in between. Did I always find a commonality or conversational chemistry with each person I’ve met? Definitely not, I certainly met people whose conversations I bowed out of sooner than later. But I also would expect this to happen. If I want to meet people who are all like me and my current friends, I’ll just hang out with them in the same places we normally do. Some of the more entertaining ones I’ve been to have been where I talked for a long time with people I normally wouldn’t, so you should come with an open mind.
Saya is extremely approachable and welcoming of all backgrounds (I think her one don’t-break-rule is a respect for her and her home), and even the shiest of people should feel comfortable attending one of these for the first time. I find this to be an extremely affordable way to meet new people and escape your normal routine. My recommendation is to keep your expectations low — i.e. don’t expect a «result» at the end of the night or else you’ll get caught up in that instead of just having fun meeting people. Bring an outgoing and non-​judgmental attitude, and you’re bound to have a good time.
Lastly, I’ve never been to one where the college you hail from was of interest to anyone I met — they’ve all been a far cry from some alumni toting event. The only common trait everyone had is their mutual interest in meeting new people whether it be for work, dating or just to meet some new friendly faces.

Mac’n’Cheese is a Chicago gem. Each and every event I have attended (3) allowed me to meet new friends in an nonthreatening and fun environment! Saya, Mac’n’Cheese’s venerable hostess has the unique ability to blend interesting participants, a happy easy going atmosphere, and a wonderful outgoing attitude ensuring that each mingler is fun for EVERYONE!
For those of you who don’t know Mac’n’Cheese is a fabulous meet and greet, that includes food and games and is essentially the perfect dinner party with friends you have yet to meet. And it is flexible, you can use it for whatever you want: for social/​business networking as a dating scene, and a place to simply meet people if you are new in town or feel like you want to bring some new blood into your existing group of friends. And on the fabulous plus side there are no sloppy alcoholics…
So far as a guest at Mac’n’Cheese I have enjoyed debating politics, discussing the music scene in Chicago and elsewhere, meeting new friends and introducing them to my old friends (and doing my most favorite thing match making), and finally and most importantly party games (which I love) Saya knows all of them and they are all so much fun!
