They are very nice people who are very patient when you call about a computer repair and then refer you elsewhere. They do consulting for home and biz & can help you w/​your networking needs etc. but don’t call them to get your fix.

Seriously, these people are hero’s, my hard drive failed (you can read my review on Apple). I found this place through Unilocal,took it last Friday, and they had it done in two business days! They are super nice, and do great work. I am so happy I found them.

These guys ROCK! Brought in my broken MacBook Pro with a broken latch. They were able to fix the problem at a very reasonable price! Fast and friendly service!!!

Several months ago I inquired about MacHero’s services and had very positive communication with Gino. I was able to work out the problem myself, however, and did not follow-​through.
Recently, I arranged a post-​construction clean-​up for a family member who was out of town. It was late on Friday afternoon, and he internet connection was lost. I called MacHero with an internet emergency– hoping they could make an immediate superhero visit and intervention.
Shawna answered the phone, and I explained the situation. MacHero had no immediate availability, however, Shawna stayed on the phone with me, asked me very pointed questions, and advised me on some possible solutions.
It was quite clear from talking to her, that Shawna was an expert both in IT and customer service. Very impressed.
I will certainly consider using MacHero in the future, if I can come up with the $ 135.00/per hour fee they quoted me. Haven’t checked, but I suspect that is standard for this kind of work. (By all means check price comps out for yourselves).
All initial indications seem to point towards MacHero as a great new business with competent staff and excellent customer service.

I have Mac Book that recently crapped out on me due to a Kernal Panic and wasn’t sure if it was worth fixing. The women I spoke with as able to offer some advice about cost of the repair verse the cost of purchasing a new computer.
In the end, I opted to not have my computer fixed and decided to invest in a new machine.

Gino from MacHero was able to answer my questions without all the tech-​speak that drives us non-​techies nuts. He cleared up my Mac issues and was easy to work with.

I dropped a 6 month old MacBook Pro on my hardwood floor. Fortunately it hit the floor flat and the aluminum shell was not damaged. However, the screen was cracked and performance was damaged. I took my laptop to the Apple Store on Michigan Avenue and they told me it would cost $ 1,500 to repair. I declined their generous offer and then went online and found MacHero. These guys were great. Not only were they able to repalce the glass and not have to replace the screen, but they got my laptop up and running like new… all for $ 300. I will always go back to these guys for help!

It was a dark day when my iMac’s hard drive went belly-​up. But Gino and the crew at MacHero installed a new one and had me on my way in a couple of days.
I wish the turn-​around had been a little faster (it was only a hard drive install, after all), but MacHero is a busy place. That’ll happen when you’re this good at what you do.
I hope to never see you again, Gino. But if my Mac needs help, I know where to go for great service.

In all honestly, I didn’t go to Gino for Mac help, but I know he rules the business.
Gino and I got in touch because of an event I was running for FreshBooks. I needed a space and wanted to spend as little money as possible. I reached out to some of our customers in Chicago and Gino was SO awesome to get back to me super quickly and offer up his space to host our workshop.
He worked with me to secure catering, audio-​visuals and anything else I needed. Srsly — ANYTHING! I needed a bunch of chairs and rental places weren’t down with renting only 50. He got in touch with a nearby church and helped us arrange a donation to its after school program. AND helped me carry and drive over the chairs throughout one of the city’s first snowfalls of the year. Incredible.
Gino was the best host ever and I’m basically spoiled for out-​of-​town events for the rest of my life.

Gino at MacHero is the Go-​To-​Guy to end all Go-​To-​Guys. I teach people all the creative aspects of the Mac, but for technical needs I am out of my league. When my old PowerBook was dying, he let me know that the repairs were simply not going to be worth it; for the amount needed I could almost buy a new MacBook — so I did. Some say telling a customer not to spend their money is bad business, but I disagree completely. That’s how you build a great business. I refer all of my customers to MacHero. For honest, affordable, and more importantly superior work, there is no better option than MacHero!

I want to add another review. My Mac laptop died (and I mean door-​nail dead.) Gino tried to fix it, but let me know that the repair cost was not worth it, given the computer’s age. So, he found me another, better, faster (stronger!) Mac, and transfered all my stuff over at a very reasonable price. Love this place, and will continue to contact Gino for all my Mac needs!

MacHero isn’t just one of the best IT places, it’s one of the best repair places, period.
This weekend I spilled coffee on my MacBook. I was able to get most of the moisture out but I was still unsure of the machine’s condition. I got the +$ 700 estimate from Apple and thought I would do better somewhere else.
Fortunately my other computer wasn’t broken and I was able to find this Unilocal page. I’m glad I did. I followed the other Unilocalers’ advice and took my MacBook to MacHero.
MacHero offered a free estimate, a reasonable price for repair, and a transparent process, nonpareil.
I highly recommend MacHero for any and all Apple needs.

Machero should be rated as Chicago’s best Mac repair store.
Its a class act like this among all the sneaky ones in the world that reaffirm there are good, decent, and honest people left in this world.
My Mac’s screen sizzled and then went dead after some water damage. I took the Mac to Apple and off course those self serving geniuses immediately told me my Mac is history and I would need to rebuild the entire circuit board for 900.00 or get a new computer. I was bummed and did nothing for month until I realized there is life outside apple care.
So I called a few places on Unilocal and didn’t get some good vibes. Most of them wanted to charge me non refundable fees to see if they can fix it and some over the phone also said i needed a new circuit board.
So my intuition told me to call Machero and they told me to bring it in for free estimate, no obligation. I figured worse case they would tell me what the others did about a circuit board. An hour after I brought it in, Gino tells me the only thing that was damaged was some memory chips and he can repair everything for under $ 100.00 total.
Now, let me reiterate. I know as much about Macs as I do about astrophysics so he could have told me the bogus b.s. the other places told me and taken me to the cleaners
Instead, his focus was on me as a person, not me as a number, or a receipt.
Maybe if more businesses and their owners were as decent and ethical as he was, they’d be in business and not part of our financial fiasco.
So let me save you time and money and headaches. Be like NIKE: Don’t think, just do it, and if you have a Mac issue, bring it in for some real people skills in fixing your mechanical ones.

I needed a major repair done and these guys got it done fast and everything was very smooth and professional. I highly recommend Mac Hero to everyone out there needing any help with your mac. There are a couple other businesses repairing macs in the Chicagoland area but Mac Hero is the best and most professional.

My G5 had ground to a halt, and I was considering buying a new machine. Mac Hero found me some affordable hardware, installed it, cleaned up my system, and now it’s better than new. They saved me a bunch of money, and the customer service was great. I can’t recommend them highly enough…
