Called this restaurant today to inquire about their catering services for an upcoming event. The guy on the phone was extremely rude and did not want to answer any questions. Never ate at this restaurant and never will. My hard earned dollars will be spent elsewhere!

They have good jerk chicken cooked just right tender to the bone. Also they have great customer service. I also like the Jamaican setting with the paintings on the wall, it’s a nice place to go out on a date

I ordered delivery and lemme just say I won’t be ordering here again. Wish I could give 0 stars. I ordered fish with sauce on the fish lets just say I could barely see the fish because it was drenched in what tastes like stir bought jerk sauce. And I should’ve known not to order since no one that works there is Jamaican only ok thing is my food was delivered in a timely fashion but it was room temp when we got it. Won’t ever eat here again not even if I’m in the neighborhood

Alright so I came here and literally bought everything on the menu just to try and shared with my coworker. Everything here was barely edible. The food either tasted dry and overcooked or lacks flavor. The oxtail had a weird taste and slimy texture that is comparable to mucus. The meat of the oxtail was coated with this slime and also the rice. Not sure how anyone can enjoy anything here. Definitely not my cup of tea.

The chicken was okay. I didn’t like the sauce. The peas and rice had spaghetti sauce on it.yucky. The service was fast and pleasant but nothing like I expected. I couldn’t taste or smell the char grill. The cabbage was so-​so. If I go back it maybe for wings only! I wanted it to be delicious. I’m all about supporting black business.

This place is cheap and consistently good, and the people who work there are really nice. I’ve been there probably 5 times. The curry goat is out of this world and a massive portion, and the jerk chicken is SPICY! A+++

If I could give it zero stars I would definitely do that, the guy at the front register was very rude, he had a smart remark every time you asked questions, then he slammed the menu down on the desk like I’m one of his kids. I am not pleased with this business at all. In fact I am considering throwing the food out. Hell even their security guard had an attitude issue. If you’re depressed and miserable and love being around that type of crowd this is the place to go to. By the way they give very small portions for food so it’s alternately a waste of time and money. I’m actually going to report this business to the Better Business Bureau.

I recently had the misfortune of eating at this restaurant. I had the jerk chicken wings that were clearly baked. The sauce didn’t even taste like authentic jerk sauce. The service was good and the cashier was very friendly. I would never go back for the food but the people are great. Now transfer that good service over to the food and we would have a winner…

Maxine what da bumboclot happened to you? Where the heat go? Had the day off & wanted to try the lunch specials since i had a taste for chicken ($ 6) and fish ($ 7). Since I wanted extra sauce and they only give you one sauce on the side if you want extra I had them put mine on my entrees. I live two blocks away but when I opened my to go containers you would have thought it took 30mins, the chicken and fish were both barely warm. They say you eat with your eyes 1st and my containers presentation looked awful and though The extra sauce was added, its lack of heat and spiciness left a lot to be desired. So sorry but I’m Nah guh bak anytime soon until they Mek a betta effort.

Maxine’s is a great option if you’re looking for authentic Jamaican food. It’s also a great option since the West Side of Chicago is saturated with chicken wing restaurants.
I would recommend the jerk chicken with the sauce on the side because it’s very spicy. The plantains, rice and peas, yams and cabbage are great sides for any meal. They also have lunch specials for $ 2.99. It’s hard to beat that price.
The only reason I didn’t give Maxine five stars is the long wait time. I know the food is fresh, but I shouldn’t have to wait 15 – 20 minutes for two dinners. I would recommend calling ahead.

Being an islander, I am always looking for the flavor of the Caribbean and that’s how I came to Maxine’s. I tried the jerk chicken and it was delicious.
Don’t let the neighborhood discouraged to stop by. I went and the employees and patrons were nice. Even tough I was the only «white» in there at the moment I felt comfortable.
What it really matter is the food and it was delicious! The rice, beans I felt I was in Puerto Rico! The Caribbean have many flavors to discover. Go and try it!!!

I love this place! The woman at the register is always so friendly and willing to answer any questions! I usually order the jerk tips just to avoid the whole bustle that comes with chicken bones (I’m a little lazy at times Haha). All around great place, good food and nice customer service

Jamaican My A$$!!! I don’t know WHAT kind of Rice & Peas those are suppose to be but none I’ve ever tasted or looked like this before! I ordered the 2pc Dark lunch special & was given sliced pieces of meat that hardly tasted gtilled, more liked baked & some hot ass jerk sauce that was so-​so! And whomever the smart mouth guy that was working the front, somebody should’ve told him what COURTEOUSNESS is ’cause surely he missed out on it! Won’t be going back, that’s a FACT!!!

Not a fan of super spicy food but the Jerk here is right on point! The Jerk Chicken tips are delicious but in my opinion the Ox Tails steal the show. The daily lunch specials can’t be beat ANYWHERE for only 2 bucks!

LOVEDDD THIS PLACE! … the cashier was very attentive and friendly she told me about the daily special which was 2 pieces of chicken + rice and beans for 2.99 yes! 2.99. not only was this food inexpensive IT WAS DELICIOUS AND SPICY ! YUMM!
Me and my classmate were given a little sample of their jerk chicken tips while we were waiting and it was also deliciouss! definately will come back for more before my semester ends!
