Merry Meows was an idea brought to life by Barbara McMahon in 2005 until recently when Merry Meows became Merry Meows & Hounds! We are excited to grow with you and your pet family.

Hello, I am Rebecca Alvarado I am the proud owner of Merry Meows & Hounds. Pets have been my one true passion throughout my life and for me there’s nothing more satisfying than working with animals. I consider it therapeutic for the soul. I truly do care and I know that is reflected to all of our clients.

As a pet parent I understand how hard it is to leave your pets but also make sure they’re in good hands. Thank you for considering Merry Meows & Hounds and I look forward to hearing from you!

I learned of Merry Meows (Rebecca) when my friend re-​posted a photo from the Merry Meows Instagram account, showing her cat having fun and being loved while she was out of town. I was in need of a cat babysitter, so I reached out to her for Rebecca’s info. Rebecca has been taking care of my cat Sophie for over a year when I go out of town on long weekends or vacations, and she is the best! I never feel uncomfortable handing my extra set of keys to her, or worrying about anything expensive lying around when she’s in my apartment. She is super trustworthy and flexible. And, most importantly, Sophie has SO much fun when Rebecca is there. She always texts photo updates and lets me know how Sophie was when she was there, which makes leaving your pet much less stressful. I come home from trips, and her litter box is clean, she has food and fresh water, and sometimes even a new toy. Sophie has a gold string that she is obsessed with that Rebecca brought to play with her, and she loved it so much that Rebecca left it for her :) I highly recommend Rebecca/​Merry Meows to anyone looking for pet care.

Rebecca is great! I have used her service 6 or 7 times when I’ve been out of town travelling. She is always available, even on short notice. She comes over to play with my two cats and feed them and always provides an email update after the visit. I would continue to use her but I’m moving to Virginia next month. From what I’ve seen on Unilocal,her rates are very reasonable which is why I continued to use her often.

Rebecca is hands down the best dog walker I’ve ever had. She has been taking care of my maltipoo, Bear, since he was 8 weeks old (he’s now almost 2!). Rebecca goes above and beyond, always texting updates and pictures, along with a map of where they walked as well! She is so sweet with Bear and he absolutely LOVES her! I would recommend Rebecca to anyone looking for a dog walker/​sitter!

Rebecca takes great care of my Milo when I am away! He’s so happy to see her when she visits and she always sends a pic and spends a good amount of time with him. I know he is in good hands when I’m away! I highly recommend using Merry Meows!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE REBECCA! She has been taking care of our pup Winnie for months. She does a wonderful job! She really cares about her like we do! She sends us wonderful updates about her walks every day and sends us a map of where her and Winnie went! She is so sweet and always follows my instructions with how to care for Winnie. She is simply the best! I would recommend her to EVERYONE!

Rebecca, the owner of Merry Meows is amazing. I have never left my cats alone for more than one night. I had to go out of town twice for an extended stay. Rebecca came over and met my cats and went over their routine. The best part was she emailed me pictures while I was away which made all the difference in the world. I missed my cats terribly, but knowing that Rebecca was with them made my leaving much easier. She gave them their medications too.
When I returned home my place was immaculate. She is very neat and clean. I would definitely recommend Rebecca to all pet parents.

Rebecca is so great! She came to meet our dogs and learned how we like to take care of them and then followed our instructions exactly. She also didn’t make fun of me for being so particular about how we do everything. She always texts us an update of what happened when she walked the dogs. The best part, the dogs love her! Highly recommend!

Would definitely recommend Merry Meows after using her for two occasions.
Found her through a vet’s recommendation. From the initial contact and beyond she was very professional and asked several excellent questions and confirmed them by email later.
My cat was well taken care of and appeared to be in excellent mood and appearance, just as I left her.
Additionally, my plants were watered, my mail was neatly stacked, cat bowls cleaned, and the cat related trash was taken out.
MM even offered to text photos (optional) of our cat while we were away. Having the piece of mind that your house and cat are well taken care of while away is wonderful.

We are SO happy our vet recommended Merry Meows. Rebecca is wonderful with both of our cats. We have a prissy Persian and a sensitive Mainecoon. Rebecca takes the time to bond with each of them, playing with Kenzi and reassuring Thor while we’re gone. We always get photos and a note which reassures us! The first time we met, Rebecca wanted to know all about their routines and personalities. She always asks if there are any changes or updates when she watches them. My husband and highly recommend Merry Meows.

Finally found an affordable, dependable, loving cat sitter! Rotated through a few not-​so-​great companies and people until I found Rebecca. I think she loves my energetic kitty almost as much as I do. Very responsive and flexible when it comes to working around my schedule, and I get text updates from each visit. Can’t say enough wonderful things about Merry Meows and Rebecca.
