Established in 2001.

Mike Lamendella launched Mr Carpet Shop at Home in January 2001 on the foundation of Honesty, Integrity, Quality, Value and Service. Since then, Mr Carpet has garnered nearly 1000 overwhelmingly positive online reviews and is currently Chicagoland’s Top Customer-​Rated Carpet Company.

Mike began his career in retail carpet in 1993 working for a large Shop at Home carpet company. He launched Mr Carpet Shop at Home in 2001.

One of Mike’s favorite success stories is that of the greatest horse to ever live – Secretariat. In his Triple Crown win in 1973, he beat his competitor, Sham, by an unbelievable 31 lengths. His record still stands. After Secretariat passed away, they learned his heart was literally twice the size of any other horse. Mike believes that with twice the heart (figuratively!) there is nothing in life you can’t do.

Mike only pursues things that he believes in with all his heart and he credits his amazing grandparents and parents who were smart, hardworking and generous people for teaching him that.

Mike enjoys meeting new people and learning from and about his customers. He has conducted nearly 20,000 shop at home carpet presentations in his career. A life-​long Chicagoan, Mike loves dogs and lives for summer in Chicago.

We love the Mr. Carpet team. We had an issue with carpet installed a year ago and Mr. Carpet came in and stood behind their product. They completely replaced it and we are so happy. Please note it was not Mr. Carpet’s fault in the first place — it looked like it was a flaw in the carpet. We had similar carpet installed on other floors and those were fine. We love Mr. Carpet and we look forward to using them again and recommending the to anyone.

Let me just say, in the past we had MAJOR issues for the simplest big company requests. Tried working with Luna (horrible), Empire (horrible and sam company actually), Home Depot (bad experience), etc.
Mr. Carpet proved to be super easy, affordable still, and fast. They popped out after an email request within days to show us some samples. We picked those and a few weeks later (since they had to me manufactured (but in USA), they came back and did the install. They did a great job on two staircases where we wanted wood to still show on sides and a bedroom. Excellent quality carpet, no horrible smells, and install was fast. The 3 – 4 guys that showed up really did good work, knew their field, and we appreciate that.
Will repeat business if needed with these guys, if can’t escape the horrid city of Chicago and state of Illinois first, but that is a whole other topic ;-)

Only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because we have not had the final work done yet (and we do plan to when we get other things finished in our home). Bob was awesome. We had to reschedule our first appointment due to an emergency, and he came out the next evening right away. He took us through a ton of options, and even other things we didn’t know we could have them do for us! Highly recommend them and I hope to write an updated review come Spring when we have the work completed.

Wow — what an amazing company! Prompt, professional, courteous and experts at what they do. I emailed and spoke with Mary first to schedule a meeting and then had an in-​home meeting with Bob and chose a carpet from the many options of samples he had. He gave me great advice as this was the first time I was choosing a carpet, and there was absolutely no pressure (something that you get in spades with other companies). The carpet was ordered and ready for installation a couple of weeks later. The installation team, led by Bernie, were fantastic and I am so impressed with the result. Every step of the process was great, thanks to the wonderful team of people involved. Thank you all so much!

Bob was extremely helpful in selecting the perfect carpet for our guest bedroom remodel. There was a slight delay in getting the carpet from the manufacturer so the install had to be rescheduled and it was a little last minute.
However the carpet was professionally installed and the team doing it was in and out fast. they did a great job cleaning up and hauled away the old carpet as well.
We are planning several other rooms to remodel and these guys will be the first ones we call.

Two great experiences with Mr. Carpet. Their flexible hours make it easy to pick out your carpet and have it installed. The convenience of having them come to your house to choose your carpet can’t be overstated. Very nice installers both times that did a very good job and wonderful follow up. Amazing company! From the initial email to Mary, to setting up a consultation with Bob and finally the installers coming to install the carpet in almost our entire house, the process was wonderful. The communication from Mary was incredible. Bob was very helpful and honest. The installers were friendly and respectful of my home. I had researched the type of carpet and pad I wanted as this was a big job for us. Any questions I asked were answered quickly and honestly. Cannot say enough good things about this company. Will definitely recommend them to all my family and friends!

There’s a reason these folks have 5 star rating after 5 star rating. I called Saturday morning after a leak destroyed my basement carpet, leaving me with a smelly, moldy basement and a holiday party 7 days away. By Monday afternoon Bob was at my kitchen table showing me carpets that would wear better than what was in the basement (bedroom, hallway, and TV room) previously, and then called immediately to see what could be installed by Friday. I ended up with better than expected carpet, MUCH better padding, and the best, most professional installation I could imagine.
The installers were top notch, and yes, I had to pack up boxes of books, games, and toys and clean out closets (not a bad idea every once in a while) but everything else they took care of without a peep, and got everything back exactly where it was.
The carpet feels luxurious compared to the Berber with a low cost padding the builder put in. The whole basement has a different feel — warmer, cozier.
I will recommend them to anyone with carpet needs!

We had our carpets installed a few months ago, and this review is something I should have gotten to long ago.
It will be more of the same of what you’ll continue to read — from our initial contact with Mary, to meeting with Bob, to the incredible installers, every bit of the experience was easy, to-​the-​point and with wonderful results.
Mary had answers to every question, and Bob was incredibly knowledgeable and approachable in terms of getting us the best product while staying within our budget. The installers were amazing in regards to their quality of work, taking down and moving furniture and moving it back when all done.
Any future carpeting we have done, wherever we live will be with Mr. Carpet Shop At Home. It’s a company built on pride, integrity and character.

I am very happy that we went with Mr. Carpet. They were very easy to work with.
We had a wonderful consult in our home with Bob. He brought lots of carpet samples to pick from, at all price points. The carpet we picked is so soft and pretty in our bedroom. We are very happy with it.
I wish we had another room that needed new carpet so we could use their services again!

The guys showed up on time the day of service, and were in and out within about 4 hours. The laid down new carpet in our Master Bedroom/​Closet and Guest Bedroom. It looks great, they cleaned up and the quality of the carpet is wonderful Would highly recommend. Bob from Mr. Carpet came over for the estimate prior to service and was very professional and friendly. Thanks!

«Wow!Wow!Wow!» Was the exact response from our realtor whether he walked in and saw the new carpeting. Shopping was easy, great choices, our salesman. Contacted them on a Tuesday, Bob was able to accommodate his schedule and come to our home within a few days. Very personable and easy going guy. Showed us some samples and really listened to what we like. Made the order and installers came the following weekend. They just finished up and it looks fantastic. Installers arrived around 10am and we’re done by 2pm — two bedrooms, one small and the other quite large. Overall a really great experience and would recommend to anyone and everyone I know. Called to make an in-​home appointment, Bob came out a few days later with samples. I picked a carpet and a week later my two rooms were carpeted by two experienced and friendly gentlemen who were precisely on-​time to install. They did a great job! The rooms look wonderful! Of course, we’re moving so the new people will get to enjoy the luxury.
Everyone I dealt with from Mike (who sounds exactly like Bob Odenkirk), to Bob, to Mary and the installers was friendly, professional, and attentive to detail and personable. Couldn’t have been easier and went off without a hitch!
Will definitely be calling Mr. Carpet for all future carpet installations!
