Mr. Duct Heating & Air Conditioning

The crew that came in literally broke my wooden floor. I have newly renovated wood floors placed up to the laundry room. The laundry room with stacked units has tile. The crew came in to check the vents for each unit. After their inspection, I looked to see what they did. There was a small wood floor board missing!!! The guy said it was like that before. Uh, I paid a ton of my hard earned money on that floor, and I would know if a plank just got up and walked away! Now there is a gap with the silver underpayment showing. He kept denying that he did anything. Accidents happen, but honesty and integrity are more highly regarded in my book than what these jerks did.
Note to this business owner: treat your customers like you would your own mom. What you did in my house was deplorable.

Scheduled a duct cleaning with this service and when the technicians arrived they were very polite and courteous. They explained what they were going to do. Unfortunately, I live in an old house which has asbestos tape. The technician explained what adverse effects may occur if they proceed with cleaning. Ultimately, he said they couldn’t clean it for the health of the workers and home. I interpreted this to be a reasonable and responsible decision and applaud the company and the technician for having honest policies to protect their customers.

Scheduled an appointment for a dryer vent cleaning from 2−4pm. No show, no call. I called them at 5pm to ask what was going on, they told me the crew was running late and would not be able to arrive until 6pm. At 5:50 they called to update me that they wouldn’t be arriving until 6:30. They finally arrived at 7pm. They looked at the vent briefly, decided that since it is made of vinyl they will only replace it and would not try to clean it. Then they left. Showing up late without calling seems to be a common complaint. The guys were nice enough, but the service was tardy and useless.

So I used Mr. Duct after another company was unable to complete my request for cleaning the hvac and dryer vents in my 3 bedroom condo. The workers were great people… very nice, professional, and took off their shoes in the house. But in general, these guys just can’t clean vents. They have a great sales pitch when you call, giving you this comprehensive list of things they do and how long they’ve been doing it and their NADCA certifications. don’t fall for it.
I am updating this on a request from the company to make a few points. They wanted me to notate that they were honest about their capabilities… which they were. They said they might have challenges in accessing the dryer vent in which case they wouldn’t do it. That doesn’t change my rating of «Eh, I’ve seen better». They also have offered to send someone to check the quality of the HVAC vent cleaning. That all being said, there is still no reason to call these people… just call a company who can do the job in completion the first time. If they spent half the amount of time marketing and following up on Unilocal reviews as they did on updating their equipment and learning how to do the job right in today’s day and age, I wouldn’t be writing this review.
First, on the dryer vent, they claimed they couldn’t clean the vent because the exit of the vent was on the side of buildings and that the buildings were too close together. Chicago… buildings too close together… really? Then, when they clean the HVAC vents they just force air through them… no brushes. On top of this, they use the most antiquated equipment I’ve seen… literally being held together with duct tape. They use a gas generator which is outside the building and drag feet after feet of hose versus better companies who have more powerful electric machines that can be plugged in within the house/​condo unit.
I ended up having to hire almost any other company that had a flexible 25 ft brush to come clean the dryer vents.
Nice people, was nice to support a local business, but won’t be using these guys again.

I was initially a bit hesitant about hiring Mr. Duct based upon the Unilocal reviews… 3 ½ stars is fairly low in my opinion. However, I did hire them… and I was extremely satisfied with the service provided and would highly recommend them for anyone looking to have their furnace and ductwork cleaned.
The whole process was flawless… When I called on the phone for «, the woman who answered provide me a detailed overview of the process, a detailed price quote, and a reasonable timeframe window of when the workers would arrive at my home.
A team of two workers came, and they were extremely knowledgeable and polite… They were careful to not drag their ladders across our hardwood floors and not to bump their equipment into our white walls. The whole process took less than two hours, and there were before and after photos taken to show just how much cleaner the ducts were after the process. The workers also replaced my furnace air filters upon my request. Additionally, they noticed that the filter on our humidifier had not been changed and was collecting, I believe, calcium deposits… They recommended a replacement in order to prevent damage, and not to use the humidifier until the new filter was in place.
Overall, I was extremely satisfied. Although I received quotes for a lower price, I am definitely comfortable with the service I received for the price paid. For what it’s worth, Mr. Duct is also NADCA certified, and the lower-​priced service providers were not.
I should also say that I initially planned to use Stanley Steamers… apparently they can clean ductwork and not just carpets. I had a team come out to give me a quote, but when the actual team came out to do the cleaning, their equipment would not work on my furnace. Needless to say, I was quite annoyed… But that’s what I get for trying to hire a carpet cleaning business to clean my HVAC ducts.

The service for my dryer vent cleaning went well and took no time at all. The two reps who arrived were pleasant and professional. I appreciate how quickly Mr Duct was able to schedule the appointment and even called the day of to ask if they could come earlier than originally scheduled.
My only gripe is the cost of the service. The other units in my building were able to get group pricing as they did theirs at the same time. I had to pay full price since mine was completed after. Which I totally understand but everyone wishes they could get a discount!

Scheduled a regular furnace cleaning in a two hour window which they confirmed. Technician never showed up for a 2 – 4 appointment. A tech finally called at 7PM (3 hours post the windows) stating he was outside for the appointment. Completely unacceptable. If they needed to reschedule later, running late, etc. at minimum I would expect a phone call so I’m not sitting at home waiting — especially when I took off work to make the appointment.

Overall, my husband and I were really pleased with the service and follow up from Mr. Duct. We recently bought a home from 1941 and the furnace badly needed to be serviced. The guy that came out was efficient and thorough and recommended that due to the age of the house, we should have our ducts cleaned. They came out a second time to to clean the ducts and they had NEVER been cleaned. Needless to say, it was a big project but they were clean, and walked us through what they did and how to properly use our vents with the different seasons. We are pretty picky and looked at other providers in the area but happy we went with Mr. Duct. Would recommend them again and would call them again!

I recently hired Mr. Duct to clean out our dryer vent and HVAC in our duplex condo. We’d never done this before and it appears that the owners who lived here before us for 10 years most likely didn’t either. The men that came showed me with a camera how much dust was in all the vents. Super gross and then pretty amazing to see it after they cleaned. They were very professional, cleaned up their mess and were communicative. If you need this service, I highly recommend them!

Based on reviews here, we had Mr. Duct’s team come out for our annual A/​C inspection. Their technician’s review seemed a bit too cursory — they spent more time standing around than actually «inspecting» our system (a testament to which is the fact that, when examining our air return, they recommended that we get a filter for it — fun fact: there was already one in there, and had they taken the grate off to observe they would have spotted it!).
Their analysis was that our system was in overall great shape, so we were pleased (yay, only the $ 119 inspection fee — what a deal!). .. until one month later, when our A/​C died. Diagnosis (by) another team who actually «inspects»: condenser was dead. Reason? Excessive dirt and build up that caused it to overheat. Price tag? No comment (it still smarts).
So, I could rant about Mr. Duct’s technicians incompetence, or the fact that, had they noted this build up at the beginning of summer when they looked at the unit they could have saved us the thousands-​of-​dollars bill to replace our unit later in the season, but I will leave at this: don’t waste your time or your money; don’t work with Mr. Duct.

I recently moved to a townhouse in Chicago and discovered the ducts were filthy. When painters removed the vent covers on the walls to paint, the insides were black and clogged with dust. Mario and his colleague from Mr. Duct did a thorough job cleaning the ducts and furnaces. They used a very large air compressor, which they positioned outside and connected through a window. Their cleaning process is not a mere Shop-​Vac operation — the equipment they used had a lot of power and dislodged stuck-​on junk in the ducts. My house has two furnaces. We were charged per furnace, rather than for the number of vents/​rooms. For two furnaces, my total bill was $ 670.50. The estimator on the phone told me exactly what the bill would be beforehand. The services were explained well and delivered as expected. I really appreciated that the pricing was transparent, reliable and very fair for the services received. Mario and his colleague completed the work in about 2.5 hours. They cleaned up after themselves. They were courteous and professional, and I now feel better about the air my family is breathing. I would certainly use Mr. Duct again — though I hope not for another 3 to 5 years.

I hate spending money on things like this. I could buy a fabulous pair of boots at Nordstrom for the $ 395 it cost. But I have to admit it was money well spent.
I’d just finished remodeling my condo, and no matter how often I cleaned, my place was always dusty. And I was always sneezing because I’m allergic to dust mites. The building engineer recommended duct cleaning. After a Unilocal search, Mr. Duct seemed like the best option.
So I used Mr. Duct. Here are the five reasons I’m giving them five stars.
1) The two workmen arrived on time. Nothing bugs me more than waiting around for someone to show up.
2) Both were friendly and experienced. They worked well as a team. Cesar, the lead guy, had been with Mr. Duct almost ten years. The guys even cleaned up after themselves before they left.
3) They used the right kind of equipment. I chose them because they have a camera that films the cleaning as they’re doing it, so they can be sure to get the gunk that’s collected in the corners. They even let me watch the video on their smartphone.
4) The men did a thorough job. And they even checked out my furnace because it’s part of the vent system.

5) The office emailed me the next day to make certain I was completely satisfied. How many businesses do this?

Mr. Duct has been one of the best dryer cleaning companies that I have used in the Chicagoland Area. Everyone I talk to on the phone has been amazing with coordinating meetings and keeping everything on schedule, which takes a large burden off my plate. Some of the best customer service you will experience as well.

This is a great company. I got excellent service on the phone, extremely competent service technicians and a wonderful product. They cleaned all the air ducts in our 3600 sq ft home and it was done for literally ½ the price that my regular HVAC company had quoted. Not only that? But the technician correctly diagnosed a strange noise coming from my HVAC humidifier… a problem that had eluded my regular company.
I am really, really impressed. I think its time to change my HVAC company to Mr. Duct.

The guys who came out today were amazing! They were able to find a rat that got into our duct-​work (and died in our furnace two months ago!), which no one else had been able to find until this point.

Mr Ducts service was stellar from beginning to end. In booking the services, air duct and dry vent cleaning, they were very clear as to the service to be delivered and the cost. When the two cleaners arrived they were very professional. They introduced themselves, described the cleaning process and the period of time it would take. We had a toddler who needed to take a nap and they cleared his room first in order to accomodate our needs. The dryer vent was difficult to clean due to outside location of vent and a birds nest located in the vent. This took almost as long as cleaning all the air ducts. They persisted until it was clear. They was no additional charge even though it took more time than expected. Overall it was an outstanding experience.

Our dryer was barely working at all and we had done all the regular checks inside and figured it was time to call someone to help. Our dryer vent is on the roof, 5 stories up and the roof is angled, so I didn’t exactly feel like going up there myself.
Setting the appointment was easy and the guy showed up right on time. He was very nice and professional. Quickly got the problem resolved and showed me the buildup that was causing it. Ever since our dryer has been working perfectly!
The only weird thing was that I got several automated emails indicating that my «order is ready for pickup» but I didn’t have to pick up anything… I just ignored these and all was good, but they should probably get rid of those emails it was kind of confusing.
I didn’t do a ton of price comparisons but they were priced the same as the one other place I looked. I would recommend them.

I was a bit wary to use this company as the Unilocal reviews are less than stellar, though Mr. Duct is NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association) certified — and our home inspector recommended that we only work with businesses that have this certification.
I gave them a call on Wednesday and they had availability immediately. Very professional customer service and they were patient with my many ignorant questions. They were honest and upfront about pricing, which I really value. I can’t stand it when companies refuse to provide quotes — it makes me feel like I’m being ripped off.
We had Ivan, Emmanuel, and Dave come out to do the service. They were a fantastic team. Professional and thorough.
Services I used:
— Furnace cleaning: We had recently purchased a home and the previous owners had not cleaned the furnace in 10 years. Dave did a good job servicing the machine and explaining how I can keep the filters clean. The cost for service was $ 119, which was a special price. Normally, it is $ 130.
— Air Duct cleaning: Ivan and Emmanuel performed this service and it was totally worth the $ 395. They were very detail-​oriented and had a camera to show before-​and-​after views of the ducts.
— Dryer Vent cleaning: Ivan and Emmanuel performed this service also and went above and beyond to make sure that the vent was properly functioning. They went outside to ensure that the dryer vents were opening.
I would definitely hire them again for maintenance on the air ducts, dryer vents, and furnace in my condo. I’m so glad I did it because I now have the peace of mind that the air flow in my condo is clean and fresh.

They messed up my walls and didn’t even vacuum up the debris in the furnace. Within the main air ducts it didn’t do anything… you could run your finger through the dust still there. When I called to complain, they didn’t get back to me. Then they keep calling for followup appointments… DO NOT USE. They just blow air through your ducts but it doesn’t do anything.
