Tech support service that has a malfunctioning website that doesn’t allow you to contact them. I can at least appreciate the irony.

As others have said, Luis was prompt, courteous and professional. I needed my coax cable soldered back onto the TV. He got it done quickly and for the price quoted over the phone. A+ service and a chance to patronize a small local business instead of a bigger ripoff option!

I first found this company via Unilocal,and the reviews, all five stars at the time, could not have been a more accurate reflection of the quality of service delivered by this business. My first experience with Northside Tech Support was wonderful. I needed urgent data recovery services, and these guys were so highly rated, I took a shot, and I could not have been happier with the results. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and the service is unmatched, not to mention, the professionalism and honesty. You are not going to find a more reliable, conscientious or affordable computer repair resource in the Chicago area. I have visited Ann quite a few times now, with various computer problems, and each time, the problem has been resolved quickly, and for a remarkably fair price. Ann is diligent and charming, and easy to work with. Recently I had a problem with a new high-​end laptop, and the operating system is Windows 8.1, which requires jumping through many hoops to reestablish the system when the system crashes. There were a number of serial numbers and passwords required to regain the operating system and Office software, and Ann took it upon herself to contact Microsoft on my behalf in order to expedite the recovery of my system and software. I have brought a few laptops to these guys over the course of the last few years, and the service has been exceptional. Repairs are done very quickly, and they stand behind their work. I wouldn’t bring my computers, or my wife’s computers, to anyone else. You can have absolute confidence in Northside Tech Support, they are first rate. Solid five stars!

This place should receive a thousand stars! I was on maturity leave and needed to go back to work. My amazing computer decided to panic and break down. What a wonderful time for this to happen!!! I called about 4 companies and thought that this would be my best bet. Thanks to your reviews too! I am happy to say that this was a perfect experience! My lap top is working again! I have an old-​ish Dell laptop and it needed some upgrades, including a new hard drive.
I am not the most computer savvy gal. Ann was patient and thorough while she explained what needed to be done with my computer.
I left my laptop with Ann for a week while I was out of town and it came back to me working like new!
AND when I needed help re-​installing some programs Ann took the time to walk me through the process.
I have called Ann on several occasions with questions and she is always pleasant and knowledgeable while expertly explaining what I need to do.
I am a fan of Ann and NTS and would not take my computer anywhere else.

Awesome service, they fix what you need fixed and if they think you are beyond repair, they tell you. No upselling, pure honest to goodness service. Great company and have had 4 laptops serviced here

BEWARE!!!
For anything but the most basic of compter repairs, I would steer clear of Northside Tech Support.
I took my laptop to Northside because my laptop screen was flickering from time to time. Usually, I repair my computers myself but have been very busy with work and thought I would take it to «the professoinals» at Northside Tech Support so they could quickly make the necessary repairs and I could get back to work. Besides the flickering screen, my laptop had no other issues, was physically and mechanically in great shape and functioned near perfectly.
Three weeks and a few days after I had dropped off my computer at Northside and many phone call later, I was told that a component of my computer «crumbled» as they took it apart and that I would be needing additional parts. This was cause for great concern but based on the reviews here on
I had seen, I figured they guys must know what they are doing.
Despite my growing concern, I decided I would continue to give them the chance to fix my computer. A week or so later, I received another phone call from them where they told me that they had to order some additional parts because their eBay parts supplier and they could not figure out which parts were the correct ones to fit my computer. eBay parts seller? When asked, Northside told me they get all of their parts for their repairs from eBay, yikes!
Another week or ten days later, I called to inquire about the status of my repair. They told me they still had not figured it out. I asked that they put my machine back together and informed them that I would be picking it up and taking it to another repair facility. Kevin was very upset by this and told me that he «needed more time.» I informed him that if he could not repair my computer in the just over four weeks he had it, he needed to give it back to me so I could have someone who knows what they are doing make the repairs. He exclaimed «you have not given me enough time!!»
I could go on but after having tried to fix my computer for over a month, when I went to pick it up, my computer looked as if it had been dropped from a second story window. The outer case was cracked off and a «new» case with dents in it was my «new» cover (used part obtained form eBay), a key was broken off my keyboard and the keyboard itselft was no longer set into the computer, the computer would no longer turn on at all, and parts were and screws were missing. I had to look it over for a few minutes to try to ensure that it was even mine.
I dropped of a good working computer with a flickering screen problem. Over four weeks later, I picked up a broken computer with missing parts that would no longer turn on or operate at all.
I ended up having to purchase a new computer thanks to the fine handiwork of the «computer repair technicians» at Northside. They offered to pay me a nominal sum for the damage to my computer but what they gave me barely made a dent into what I had to spend for a new laptop.
Like I said, if you need any type of computer repair besides the most basic of basic repair, steer far wide and exceedingly clear of this place as in my opinion and experience, they clearly do not know what they are doing.

Anne is a miracle worker!
I recently started streaming tv shows online from, well, not exactly reputable sources (what can I say? Hulu is pretty limited). Well soon enough, I tried to turn my computer on and all I got was the Startup Repair screen which led to the Blue Screen of Death. Startup repair didn’t work, I couldn’t go into Safe Mode, and it said no back up save points existed. I also, as luck would have it, had NO backups of my files. Not to mention the weird clicking noise within my comp. beforehand that didn’t bode well for my hard drive. Fantastic!
Being terrified of computers («if I press this button will I wipe my hard drive?! ») led me to seek outside help. After a friend who works at Geek Squad in another state even warned me not to take it to them (!) because, in his words, «They’ll probably just wipe it anyway to save time, it kinda depends on the luck of who you get and how much they know and care». Ummm no thanks! I will seek the help of Unilocal.
Luckily I found Northside Tech Support. I dropped my laptop off and the process was super simple and straightforward. They backup your files before they even try to diagnose the problem just to be safe. In not even a week my computer is fixed, all of my files are back, viruses removed and OS reinstalled for less than $ 100! I even got a new trial of virus protection. That’s the price Geek Squad would’ve charged just to save my files without ANY problem resolution!
All work was done flat rate even though Anne had to trouble shoot different things and work around some hiccups with my OS product license, etc. Anne is also very nice! I am admittedly completely oblivious about how things work within a comp. and Anne was very patient, honest, and straightforward with all of my ridiculous questions :) I highly recommend them!

So, I just moved my office and got two new computers… tried networking 5 computers and it should have been a slam dunk. After a few tries, I figured my time was better put to use working for my business, so I called and spoke to Anne, Kevin came out the next day and go us taken care of in exactly 1 hour. $ 85, but well worth it. He helped out with a few other things. As a small business owner, fast reliable computer help is a MUST. lifelong customer guys!

The staff at Northside Tech Support were nice, prompt, and efficient.
My Lenovo laptop was heating up a lot, and I suspected a busted fan. I contacted 2 places, including Northside Tech Support, to get estimates of replacing the fan. Northside had the more reasonable price.
I dropped off my laptop on a Saturday morning. The next morning, I got a call saying it was fixed and ready to be picked up! It turned out I didn’t need to replace the fan. And it only cost about $ 40 to have it fixed.
And the laptop is working great. Will definitely be back for any future computer problems!

I had a Dell Mini Laptop that hadn’t been operational for a year or more (blue screen of death on boot up… the whole nine yards). Some new internet research lead me to believe that it could, in the right hands be fixed…
I got an estimate from a computer guy I used previously — who was not at all confident that he could accomplish what needed to be done… but was still going to charge me $ 125 an hour to figure it out. I knew there had to be another way…
Enter Ann at Northside Tech — I called and told her my problem and she said that not only was a repair possible but that she had reloaded the OS on various other netbooks with great success. I brought in my poor little netbook later that day and left knowing that I would be getting top notch service at a fair flat rate.
It is two days later — haven’t got my netbook back yet, but Ann has called and consulted with me and really treated me with respect — she says that my little laptop is operational again and I couldn’t be more pleased with Northside’s service! I will definitely be telling all my friends to go here for any computer/​tech related issues! :)

Forget Geek Squad! Bring your computer here to be fixed! They back up your data for free and don’t charge you for every little thing. The bill was very reasonable and we’re up and running again. I’m coming back here from now on for my computer repair needs.

You know when you get water spilled on your laptop and your ultimate reaction is panic? You think to yourself, «My whole LIFE is on that computer!»
Yeah, that happened to me… in the middle of grad school applications… in the middle of the holidays… on a Thursday night right before I had to leave for the weekend.
I tried drying the laptop out for the two days I was gone that weekend, but it still wouldn’t turn on when I got back Sunday afternoon. So, I called Northside Monday afternoon after reading some Unilocal reviews. I spoke with Anne who told me to bring in my computer that afternoon. Within fifteen minutes, I was sitting with Anne going over the gory details of what happened.
She told me she could try pulling the data off the hard drive to keep me from starting my grad school aps over from scratch. Anne also offered to try and dry out my laptop for a few days just to make sure that was/wasn’t completely shot. A week later, I had all my files AND my laptop was working. And still is as I write this review on my laptop.
I would recommend them to anyone! Furthermore, I’m getting ready to take in another laptop of mine that my brother effed up a couple years ago in hopes of recovering some pictures and essays. Fingers crossed!
Also, they are very affordable. So, don’t automatically think you can’t afford a diagnostic and data retrieval.

I went to Northside Tech after my computer completely froze and would not re-​boot. In a panic I turned to Unilocal to try and find a solution. After reading some great reviews for Northside Tech I brought my computer in the next day. It took a few days to fix but all of my information was safe and my system was back up and running. Ann kept me posted on the status of the repair and in the end I was plesently surprise that it did not cost me an arm and a leg. After hearing horror stories of other well advertised repair places that cost a great deal of money and don’t even fix the problem in the end Northside Tech was great!

I went there to fix my computer. Even though the news they had for me was bad, I could not have been happier with there service. They were really nice and helpful, so much so I am sending my wife there tomorrow to have them look at her ancient dying computer. And if you at Northside are reading this, good job and thank you.

Ann and Kevin are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They have treated me like a real human being and genuinely care about their customers and fixing their computer problems as quickly and effectively as possible. I would recommend this business to anyone and am so glad I could find such superb technical support in the urban city of Chicago! I was having issues with the speed of my laptop, then it crashed! All I saw was a black screen saying «cant find OS». Ugh! Called around to get quotes to have laptop looked at, really liked what Ann had to say and decided to give NTS a try. Glad I did. Laptop was in total failure mode and needed new HD. I appreciated Ann calling me the next day after dropping off laptop to tell me diagnosis and resolution. All was well again in a few days, back on-​line and one happy customer! Thanks Ann!

Ann, Brett and the gang at Northside Tech Support are AWESOME. I’m so glad I found this service in my neighborhood. They work on PCs and Macs. Prices are very reasonable at $ 75/​hour and I know they didn’t charge me for the full amount of time they spent fixing my computer. The turnaround for work was really quick, but call ahead to schedule an appointment if time is of the essence. I was able to work with Ann to decide the best time to drop off my computer… they had it back to me in less than 24 hours — problem solved!
Knowledgeable, affordable, courteous, quick, convenience. Highly Recommended!

I have the worst luck with computers, hardware, software. I’m a jinx. But, when my computer was riddled with viruses, Ann is magic. It was great. Then, 3 weeks later, I lost some vital information and Kevin was able to restore all data. I am in debt to Northside Tech.
They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and mostly… Northside Tech’s service charges are extremely reasonable. I’m so glad that they are in the neighborhood.

2^nd Repair 4−10−10 — The LCD screen on my Think Pad needed replacement. They found the best online price for a replacement (no markup) and replaced my screen within 2 days of the part arrival! Thank you for saving my laptop. I really did not want to buy a new one!
Third Repair — 4−25−13 (Same Thinkpad T-​60) — This time a Fan. They replaced the fan and checked everything else. All OK and still going strong.
