Northwestern Specialists In Plastic Surgery

I got microneedling done by Christal under Dr. Marco Ellis’ recommendation. I saw each of them for a consultation prior to scheduling the procedure at the med spa. Looking back, I believe that this treatment option was incredibly ill-​advised. Neither Dr. Ellis nor Christal thought through the potential outcome very carefully seeing that I have MORE SCARS AS A DIRECT RESULT of the treatment. The microneedling created puncture marks on my upper lip when originally I went in to have one minor scar minimized. (The initial scar itself was not minimized either.)
Furthermore, to be advised a SECOND TREATMENT of microneedling is absolutely ridiculous. After a couple months of waiting it out hoping it’d heal, the final insult was being told to just don’t come back if I was not happy with the results.
It’s really hard not to interpret my experience as having lacked the proper care and professionalism.
Now I have to find someone who specializes in micro-​tattooing.

I would highly recommend this office for all your skin care needs! I first came in for Microneedling with Christal and was very nervous. Right off the bat, she made me feel very comfortable and was able to answer all my questions and concerns. I expected the visit to feel like a «doctor’s appointment» but was pleasantly surprised to find that it felt more like an upscale spa! I I have since gone back for a HydraFacial with Christal (which I LOVED!!!) The results are amazing and my skin has never looked better! I also attribute this to their nurse injector, Amber, who I saw for Botox and BBL (laser for sun damage and broken blood vessels.) Amber really took the time to listen to my concerns and was able to recommend treatment accordingly. I’ve had Botox before but never has it been as painless or flawless as when Amber did it! Both girls are very sweet, professional and knowledgeable! They have a way of making you feel more like a friend than a client which I really appreciate! They also don’t try to oversell you on products or procedures the way a lot of other offices do in the business. I would highly recommend making an appointment with these two and see for yourself what I am talking about!

I would recommend Dr. Clark Schierle to anyone! In April 2015, I had a breast reduction surgery and the results are amazing! I am pain free and able to do many things that I could not in the past. Dr. Schierle was extremely professional throughout the process and his office assistants successfully worked with my insurance to get me approved for the surgery. Dr. Schierle has excellent beside manner and made me feel at ease throughout the process. His work speaks for itself and my recovery was easier than I expected.

Jeff Paetzold is excellent. Want to feel whole after major reconstructive surgery, call him.

This review’s for Jeff Paetzold — the tattoo artist that works out of this office and does reconstructive nipple tattooing — I’m transgender and I got a subcutaneous double mastectomy with free nipple grafts a few years ago (not through this office) and the grafts didn’t take — needless to say watching my flesh die and rot off itself was not really the result I’d hoped for, although maybe it lets me claim technical zombie status — which is pretty cool I guess.
SO, here I am a few years later, finally deciding to get reconstructive tattooing done. I looked at Jeff’s work before making an appointment — and even though his traditional and reconstructive portfolios are super impressive, I was a little nervous about being trans — the examples on the NSPS website were all of breast cancer survivors’ nipple tattoos which is great! but not my particular situation. Also, these were my first ever tattoos, and being trans I definitely didn’t want to place my body in the hands of someone who could feel some type of way about that — especially when they’re about to permanently mark my body!
I really didn’t need to be nervous — although I was his first trans reconstructive tattoo client he wasn’t phased at all and was super open-​minded and respectful. We actually had a great conversation about gender identity. Before getting started we talked about what exactly I wanted the tattoos to look like in terms of shape (a smaller, more «male» appearance). I’m super happy with the results — very affirming! Get this guy to tattoo you!

Dr. Marco Ellis performed several procedures on my mother, removing a carcinoma from her nose and then extensive reconstructive surgery.
Removing the carcinoma fully took several procedures and by the time it was done, she looked horrifying. Most of her nose was missing and she looked downright mutilated. Everything I’d read about Dr. Ellis and Northwestern told me that they are among the best reconstructive specialists in the Midwest, even the United States, but I was secretly convinced that there was only so much they could do with rebuilding her nose after so much damage.
I was so very, very wrong. After the long and involved reconstruction, she looks almost entirely normal; at a casual glance, you’d never be able to tell that she had any surgery, let alone major reconstructive surgery. Her primary care physician and dermatologist are amazed.
What’s more, he always treated her with empathy and respect for her wishes. Every time there was an option, he explained the pros and cons and left the decision up to her. In a situation where patients feel helpless and frightened, this means so much for their dignity. Further, he always took the time to answer questions clearly and thoroughly.
TL;DR. Amazing expertise and empathy.

Hearing those dreaded words «you have breast cancer» put you on the emotional ride of your life. I was treated locally and it was a nightmare. Fortunately I was referred to northwestern and Dr. Fine. I was so intimidated, frightened and overwhelmed at my first appointment but Michelle, Physician assistant, Barb, Karen and Dr. Fine made me feel totally at ease. Dr. Fine has a true gift not only as a very talented surgeon but an extremely compassionate and caring person. The decision was mine but he helped me sort out the best course of action. I can not say enough times how kind, helpful and attentive everyone at this practice is.

Dr. Clark Schierle is all things amazing! He is a sheer genius (no seriously read his curriculum vitae). My friend whom has worked in the plastic surgery industry for over a decade referred me to Dr. Schierle. She referred to him as the «best there is» and «the man». With that being said, I chose him to correct my saggy, back breaking oversized breasts. Dr. Schierle far exceeded my expectations. He made my breasts look perfect, not only that he demonstates great bedside manner, smells good and dresses amazing. Even Dr. Schierle’s administrative assistant Barb is awesome. She is always pleasant and accomodating. I got the impression that Dr. Schierle is a plastic surgeon because he loves what he does and genuinely wants his pt.‘s to feel better about themselves! He is not money hungry like many other MD’s I know.

Dr. Clark did an amazing job on my breast augmentation. I am about 3 months post operation and the results are perfect. The shape is amazing, the feeling is soft, and they look natural.
He provided a pain pump for the first couple days after surgery and I believe this really helped to make my recovery more comfortable. My scaring is very minimal and placed so that it is not visible even now only 3 months post op. Most importantly he was there for me when ever I needed to reach him both before and after the surgery, he even answered my emails on Christmas eve.
I would highly recommend him to my family and friends and would use him for other procedures in the future.

I recently was attacked by a dog and needed immediate care. After going to the ER & doing a bit of research, I found an on call plastic surgeon who was highly rated and available within a few hours notice. Dr. Clark Schierle or as my friends and I call him, «Dr. Awesome» really came to the rescue. Not only did he do amazing sutures that are healing well beyond what I expected, his bed side manner is very comforting. Normally, the idea of someone injecting my face and sewing me up would be of nightmare material. But, this doctor was amazing, put me at ease and did an excellent job. I have had several follow ups and can not recommend this practice enough.

Dr. Fine and Dr. Schierle are two of the best doctors that I have ever met, and I couldn’t be happier that I chose them. From the first meeting there was an immediate comfort level. I was listened to, my concerns were addressed, my questions were answered and I never felt rushed or ignored. They are both superb surgeons that have a genuine care and concern for their patients. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

After having microdermabrasions and mild peels done at various spas and plastic surgeons offices around the city, when Gilt City offered a $ 60 voucher for a microderm or lactic acid peel at Northwestern Plastic Surgery Associates, I decided to give them a try. (My primary care physician and OB are both at Northwestern, and I’ve never been less than completely satisfied with their level of care).
I called on a Friday to schedule an appointment for the following Thursday and they got me in, no problem.
I had my appointment with Cindy Hinkle, a medical aesthetician. Cindy was fantastic. She was easy to talk to, warm, and straightforward in the kind of way that makes you feel certain you’re in good hands. She talked me through what to expect from the procedure beforehand, and made the whole thing very comfortable.
My biggest complaint with some microderms done in the past has been that I felt like the aesthetician speed through it/​didnt do a thorough enough job. But as Cindy did the first pass on my face, I could already tell that this would be different. Without me having to say anything, she really concentrated on my biggest problem areas (crows feet and sun spots around my eyes, forehead lines) and did a total of three really intense passes on my entire face — the most I’ve had done in a single session at other places has been two. Even though I had a great discount through Gilt, had I paid full-​price I still would have felt like I was getting a superior treatment for the price.
When the procedure was over, Cindy answered all my questions about products, and loaded me up with a bag of samples — each of which she thoroughly explained — but never made me feel at all pressured to purchase anything («these are just some of my favorites»).
She was extremely knowledgable without an ounce of pretension. With her flawless, porcelain skin, she could have made me feel badly about my tanned, slightly broken out face, but instead she complimented my skin and only offered suggestions that were relevant to the concerns I had already expressed. I found her to be entirely lovely and incredibly trustworthy.
I should also mention that I went into the appointment wondering if purchasing through Gilt would alter the experience or level or service (I’ve had subpar reactions to using Groupon vouchers in the past at several places) but this was absolutely not the case here. My experience at Northwestern was truly wonderful, unquestionably five-​star.
Best microdermabrasion I’ve ever had, and already (4 hours post-​procedure) my skin looks tremendous — glowing, clean and clear pores, reduced sun spots. I’ll definitely be recommending Cindy and Northwestern Plastic Surgery Associates to my friends and coworkers I’m glad I found out about the non-​invasive procedures at Northwestern through Gilt, and I will be scheduling all future appointments here.

I set up a consultation for breast augmentation and was happy enough with the initial phone call. I was told that there was a $ 100 fee which seemed steep, but being that it was the first appointment I set and I didn’t know better, I said okay and went on researching other doctors to set up additional appointments. I noticed that most other plastic surgeons do not charge a fee for your initial consultation, so I was happy to find the Unilocal page for Northwestern and the $ 100 off ad for mentioning Unilocal (shown above). When I called back and mentioned Unilocal and the discount, the girl on the phone was quite rude and said they do no such thing.
I gladly canceled my appointment and will seek out surgeons who care about the patient and not just an extra buck.

Dr Fine and the rest of the staff really made me feel very comfortable. You can’t see the scar at all (small growth removed from the side of my nose) and the follow-​up has been excellent. Hightly recommended!

Ten years ago I had a reduction surgery. It changed my life so much for the better. Dr. Fine did an excellent job. As a previous reviewer said, an artist with a scapel. If you need breast work, Dr. Fine is the man to see.

Prior to my move from Boston to Chicago, I decided to have a tummy tuck since one of the most respected plastic surgeons in the world was available. Surgery went very well, but I failed to schedule sufficient recovery time. Four days post-​surgery I was back at work; a week later I took a road trip with my new hubby across Canada and moved into Illinois.
Although I was coached via the telephone on removing my drains and keeping the wound clean, the wise surgeon recommended I see Dr. Neil Fine for follow-​up. Dr. Fine was touted by his former mentor as The Man Who Would Know What To Do: that was an understatement. His staff assistant Barbara squeezed me in for my first visit the day after his office moved. When I met Dr. Fine I felt an immediate connection because he shared a bit about his own Boston journey and some of the players whom we both knew.
He examined my wound — which was healing well — and asked that I contact him if any issues should arise. I regret that some issues have arisen (someone has to be the 1 in 100) requiring many return visits either to him or his very capable assistant (Dr.?) Michelle Grim. Mind you all of this has been done as a professional courtesy.
Nearly eight months have passed and my surgical outcome is a conundrum which may never be resolved. My body is just not responding the way I had anticipated and I am making peace with that.
Yet, this surgery was of my own choosing. Most of the patients Dr. Fine sees do not have that luxury. My understanding is that he works with many cancer patients as well as people who need reconstructive services. I have noticed other patients and their families filled with stress before a consultation but leaving relieved and grateful for Dr. Fine’s reassuring manner. Knowing first-​hand the trepidation wtih which cancer patients approach surgery this is key to recovery.
Dr. Fine also does cosmetic procedures and is well-​versed in the beauty side of the equation. I am saving up to revisit him when I am due for Botox and/​or fillers. OB/​GYNs are now converting to the cosmetic side because it is more financially rewarding; why trust your face to someone not quite qualified?
In sum, I give Dr. Neil Fine’s stellar team my unequivocal recommendation and referral. It is no wonder he is an award-​winning surgeon.

Dr. Fine did my reduction 8 years back. Y’all, I cannot tell you how fantastic he is. A scapel weilding artist. Seriously. The staff and facilities at Northwestern Memorial are top notch, as well.
If you are considering implants, reconstruction or reduction I would highly recommend a consultantion with Dr. Fine.
