Anyway – we’ve ordered from them
Three times in the past several months, and as far as I’m concerned: three strikes – you’re out!
The first time, the dish I ordered, which was supposed to be spicy, was not spicy and was super bland, and some of the tofu was almost sour (for lack of a better description – several pieces were just NOT right). Second time, I asked them to make it «a little spicier than normal», figuring that the bland was the standard – they made no comment back that it was already pretty spicy, and I wound up with something too hot too eat.
Tonight we gave it one last shot, because I had a rough day and the bf felt like being nice and ordering in. I got the same dish (he went by what we’d previously ordered for a guideline), but he did NOT ask for it to be extra spicy. But OMG – red flecks EVERYWHERE. I had to go through and pick out about half, but having been cooked with the red pepper, it wasn’t much help. I was able to eat about 5 bites of it (thank goodness he’d also ordered edamame and some veggie rolls or I’d have not really had dinner). Well, I suppose I shouldn’t have eaten any of it, because a couple hours later, and – to keep it polite – I’ve had terrible stomach pains, and we’ll just say that chewable pepto is my best friend right now.
I mean, one time bad food, maybe just an off night. Second shot – hey, it was an off night that I adjusted off of, so I’ll take the hit. But third time – singe my mouth and then send me to the bathroom for half an hour? No way I’m giving them my money ever again. I’d actually ask for our money back tonight if I thought I’d actually get anything but an argument.

Excellent food but tiny portions. Perhaps in the restaurant it’s different but we were actually insulted after ordering three entrees and still the two of us were left hungry. The Mongolian beef was half full and I’ve never had Chicken Curry delivered in such a small container. Too bad because the food was very good.

Ordered on Grub Hub on 7÷28÷2013. Food actually came ahead of time, but it was the customer experience that we received that left a very bad taste in our mouths.
Our order ended up being incorrect, which we weren’t worried about because it had happened with another restaurant before and we arranged to have a meal there with a credit we received from the restaurant for forgetting one of the items. We called Oodles of Noodles and spoke to a person who called herself Molly.
After telling her that we didn’t receive one of our items, she proceeded to inform us that it wasn’t possible, because she packed it herself. She then proceeded to tell us that we should shake the bag to make sure the missing items weren’t in the bag. After the 4^th time of telling her that we didn’t have the items in our bag, we got the owner’s number. I understand the merit of being thorough with a customer, but we didn’t appreciate being treating like we were flat out lying to her. Terrible customer service.

They’re not closed — they just moved into the Lincoln Park Market.
Despite the move down the block, effectively making Oodles into a carry-​out business as nobody wants to eat dinner in the meat section of a grocery store, it is the best Thai option in the area. Not as authentic as Sticky Rice, but a lot better than Noodles in the Pot /​Joy’s.
I highly recommend the Satay River Noodles.

Ended up walking into a restaurant called «Oodles of Noodles» and walked out of «Red Bambuu.» Apparently there are two restaurants sharing one floor. Also, there is a sign on the window that says «we buy used iPhones.» At first I didn’t really know what to expect but my girlfriend and I decided to give it a shot lol.
The service was great! However, I had the Crispy Pad Thai and it was saucy as fuck. There was an explosion of overly sweet & salty sauciness every time I bit into a noodle. I thought maybe the fried noodles soaked up all the sauce, but my girlfriend had the same problem with her Pad Thai (regular, not crispy). There was literally a pool of sauce at the bottom of her place. It was just too much… made us both sick halfway through our meal :/

Great value, fast and delicious are the three words that immediately come to mind when I think of this neighborhood gem.
With a huge variety of Asian dishes it is hard to get tired of this place! It brightens up the end of a long work day every time. My bf and I can’t count how many cozy nights we had spent relaxing over Oodles of Noodles take out and there is always something on the menu for my nine-​year-​old! If you aren’t in the mood for dressing up, it is also a great casual option for dining out. It’s a BYOB, never very laud and ALWAYS offers excellent service (quick & friendly)
So glad to have them next door!
P. S.While all of their noodle dishes are fantastic, I love their coconut shrimp appetizer:)

I came here with a group of friends for dinner and they randomly chose this place for its close proximity to Molly’s Cupcakes. The food took forever to come out. My chicken pad see eew had a ton of chicken though, which meat eaters would be a fan of.
I had Crab Rangoon with my bf as an appetizer– the portion was HUGE. That goes for pretty much all of the food– they have big portions.
They have a strange partnership going on with the restaurant next door where you can order dishes from them on the same bill. My table tried their chili and onion rings and said that they were good. I had a mango smoothie with tapioca and the bubbles were kind of hard.

Grubhub order made at 730p. Quoted delivery time: 815pm. Actual delivery time: 910. Food cold. Soup is lukewarm. YOU’RE DEAD TO ME OODLES OF NOODLES
Follow up review: After waiting 45 minutes after our quoted delivery time, we call Oodles to find out what the hold up is. She didn’t see our order in the restaurant, so she called the delivery man to see what the hold up was. She eventually called back to say the delivery man was nearby and we’d have our food within 5 minutes. She was right.
Here’s our rundown:
— Pineapple Fried Rice. Decent… expect canned pineapple chunks.
— Egg Drop soup… the saltiest egg drop soup I have ever consumed, I do not recommend consuming if you have the slightest trace of chapped lips.
— Orange Chicken. It was pretty ambiguous and could have been sweet and sour chicken for all I know… the sauce was clear and was at the bottom of the container.
— Bao… described on the menu as egg noodles. I took a chance that it was wrong. It was. It was BBQ meat. I’m not sure what it was… but the ratio of meat to bun was off. There was about an inch of steamed bun to a thin layer of meat within.
— Can of coke — room temperature, fortunately free with $ 20 order.
All ordered items were lukewarm, however I don’t think it would have tasted better if it had arrived hot.

The spring rolls aren’t too shabby and their Thai Spicy Chicken wasn’t that spicy but still delicious.
Now, the food did kind of leave me feeling uneasy but in their defense, I was hung over. My waiter’s english was pretty rough and I had to ask for refills more than once yet it was only myself and one other customer in the place at lunch.
I would say that I have definitely had better in my hometown but I’ll give them some credit for being a local Chicago asian restaurant.

Not sure why this place has only 3 stars. Yes it looks like a diner. But the food isnt mediocre, given the price. I had the Singapore noodles, which were a bit of an all-​right, they had curry powder on them and that’s the only thing that made them any good. But they made an awesome strawberry shake for me with boba– a lot of people miss out on this since its in another room of the restaurant and though you can see it, it doesnt seem like its part of the restaurant. Make use of it! its all fresh and you can taste the fruit for realz.
My neice had the sushi, sashimi and nigiri and she loved them all. Simple and clean and well prepared. Not fancy, but great for a lunch where you don’t want fancy and you want good food :)

Finally found a place I can walk to for good food or get delivered on a rainy night like last night. Pretty darn good, but not extraordinary.
The tempura rolls were delicious and had a little kick to them. The crab rangoon was also pretty good, but I did not like the sweet and sour sauce that came with them. We got these free because our order was over $ 15. I like free.
The boy had pad thai with chicken. He said he liked it, but I thought it was a little dry. Good flavor though.
I want to try this place again and try some more interesting dishes.
Also, I should mention that the delivery guy was very nice even though hew as on a goose chase trying to find my weird apartment number. Good people.

Great bubble tea (I’ve only had the green tea and I love it!)
— I like green tea anyways but it tastes more like green tea ice cream… not super sweet so you can drink the whole thing! You can ask for this to-​go too and they’ll put it in a separate plastic cup so if you don’t finish it, you can take it with you!
Amazing crab ragoon — AMAZING!!!
Their bread bowls are good too — the chicken won ton and tomato bisque soups were equally great!
Sushi is great too! YUM!

Went here by default, because Toro sushi was full next door and we didn’t feel like waiting forever. The food was just ok.
Their large menu can almost be a downfall — too many items — some were great, some were ok. Some were bad. I wish places would cut down there menu and serve a small variety of very well made things, verses and garganutuan amount of items, some good, some mediocre, some bad.
Noodle dishes were decent — pretty good, but nothing memorable. Cantonese «no name» noodles, Dumpling noodle soup, Cashew noodles — just average. I’d go back if I were walking down the street and hungry. If I was at home and hungry I wouldn’t necessarily be drawn to travel here.
Miso soup was bad. Really bland, not hot enough. Spicy scallop role was TERRIBLE. Didn’t taste fresh, had a very strange texture, almost a fishy taste. Yuck. Vegetable caterpillar role was very good and I would definitely order that again.
Appetizers were overall really good. Huge crab rangoon that were very tasty, excellent vegetable spring rolls. Potstickers were kind of bad. The filling was good, but there was way too much dough and they were over pan fried, so they had a burnt, gassy flavor on the outside.
Service was fine — no problems. Décor was confused. This restaurant appears to at one point be three separate restaurants — so it was this weird chopped up room that was part noodles store front, part sushi storefront and part smoothie/​soup counter. It just didn’t flow very well — and was obviously three distinct places that just chopped the walls down and made no effort to really integrate the three parts.
Prices were fine. It was nice that you could order half orders of sushi.
Overall this place was just ok. Some going points, some bad points. Nothing ever really worth going back for. So many other noodles/​sushi restaurants around that are so much better.
Honestly, I wouldn’t waste my time. It wasn’t a terrible experience, but it wasn’t a consistently good experience either.

I guess I didn’t order the right dish at this so called noodle shop???
I thought I ordered the crazy noodles with chicken.
What I got was overcooked pasta with a couple pieces of chicken.
They should change the name of the dish to «You Must Be Crazy To Order This Dish!!!»

Thumbs down: I hate that this place had the fan running, heater off when there’s only about 3ft high piles of snow right outside their window.
Thumbs up: Mix and match sushi. I liked that I could split half of one roll with half of another. Great for tight budgets and my self-​proclaimed, «shrinking» stomach.
Wonderful surprise: appeals to my sweet tooth!
I ordered panang curry with chicken: the broth/​sauce was DELICIOUS. Very complex in depth with an addictive sweetness.
My sister ordered the pad thai, (which i think had a bit too much fish sauce– smelly smelly) but the sauce was sweet and savory, and super saucy! not dry or super peanut-​y. But really a different kind of variation on pad thai. I really liked.
The sushi was mediocre =/​quality of super white tuna wasn’t all that. I also had the tropical volcano which was overdone with the tempura, and not enough spice for my tastes.
Still, a nice, interesting, inexpensive treat. The big plus— Molly’s for dessert!

Since Oodles of Noodles/​Red Bambuu is a short walk from where I live, I’ve been there many times to eat in or get carry out – even moreso thanks to their Groupon. While it’s pretty average Asian food, I’ve found it to be consistently good and have really only ever gotten one thing I wasn’t crazy about (due to personal preference rather than their cooking skills). Their crab rangoon is so good I always make sure to order enough food for carry out to get it free. The bowls of soup are huge and delicious – a bargain for the amount you get. The shrimp tempura roll is so tasty that I’ve been known to stop by just to get that. Also nice is that sushi rolls can be ordered in half sizes so you can mix and match.
The Groupon was a great deal as $ 25 goes a long way there, even for 2 people. An average order for my boyfriend and I could include 2 – 3 entrees, a huge bowl of soup, Bangkok wings and/​or some sushi. I don’t really know if it’s true they give less food knowing you’re using one, but we always left stuffed and with enough leftovers for both of us when we used one. Technically, I think you’re supposed to tell a restaurant up front that you’re using a Groupon so I don’t think it’s odd that they ask before you order.
The only real downsides relate to the menu itself. I love to order Red Bambuu’s bento boxes but this can only be done online. I’m not sure if they offer it for lunch, but it’s definitely not available for dinner otherwise. I find this variance annoying and it may apply to other items as well. Their Bangkok wings are also a problem since they’re apparently in limited quantity. We’ve been lucky enough to get them once out of at least 3 – 4 trys at ordering them. They’re delicious and we always want to get them, but you put your order in and find out a bit later that they no longer have them. This is irritating and I wish the waitresses knew immediately whether or not they were available and would say so when you try to order them.
One thing I must also note is the service. I once ordered a bento box online for carry out. It was supposed to come with pieces of shrimp tempura roll, but instead had pieces of Philly roll. I specifically order this item to get the shrimp tempura roll so I was incredibly disappointed to walk down there and back home to find this out. I called OoN and explained this saying I just wanted my shrimp tempura roll and was more than willing to walk back over there just to get it. Instead, the woman who had answered insisted on having it delivered – which she did herself. Sure, it’s only like a 5 minute walk, but they honestly didn’t have to do that when I had offered to go back over there myself even though I didn’t want to. They get a big plus in my book for that.

How can you possibly go wrong with $ 6.49 lunch specials?!
We have been ordering from Oodles of Noodles and I must say the food is quite good. I’ve had the Mongolian beef two times and it was terrific! The service there is good too, and make sure you get a bubble tea! Happiness is bubble tea!
Why not give it a shot for lunch today?

I tried here the Cantonese noodles with chicken and eel maki rolls.
The maki rolls were pretty good. The Cantonese noodles were ok, the broccoli in the dish was a little bitter (I like broccoli) and I just can’t place my finger on what was wrong (almost tasted like dish soap was not completely washed out of the broccoli)
Oodles of Noodles is a tiny place. While I was there I talked to other couples both on my right and left because the place is so small.
Staff is very nice.

An ex-​coworker of mine always raved about Oodles of Noodles. Finally, today, I tried it out. It was good, but like most of these Thai restaurants near Wicker Park, the food quality left something to be desired.
I ordered some Pad Thai and requested it spicy. There wasn’t even a hint of spiciness in the stuff. It was like eating greasy noodles with bits of chicken intermingled.
Their delivery drivers are inept. From what it looks like, I’m not the only one who’s had a problem with them, either. They arrived late and had NONE of the instructions I had passed along with my grubhub order about how I don’t have a buzzer or a front door. They didn’t have my phone number, and their delivery driver happened to run into my landlord who happened to have my phone number. It’s too bad I pre-​tipped online because that guy deserved a nice middle finger in lieu of a tip.
The Pad Thai was nice, despite the lack of spice. Avoid the «Chinese» dishes. Their sesame chicken is swimming in a thin water-​like gravy and was more broccoli than chicken. Three stars for that, but I don’t give restaurants with crappy delivery service more than that.

So last night we wanted to go to Toro after we saw a show. We stopped at a liquor store and picked up some MGD 64 (watchin those calories!) and made our way down to Toro. Turns out the wait was an hour and a half! Ridiculous. So here we are, standing on Clark St. in the wet, cold night wondering what we should do. We walked up and down Clark and finally settled on Oodles of Noodles because it’s next door to Toro and they are BYOB. What a good decision!
We were freezing (especially me in my little tiny flat shoes) and the restaurant was super, super warm. I’m all for it. It was nice and cozy and really warm. We were seated promptly by a very friendly hostess and water came right away. The décor was pretty typical of other restaurants — some nice pictures on the wall, a few trinkets here and there — nothing too over the top and nothing too tacky.
The service was super friendly. Our server repeated our order twice to make sure she wrote everything down correctly (awesome!) and our food came out quickly. There were others around to make sure our table was cleared quickly and to make sure our water was refilled often.
The food was pretty darn good — not the greatest Thai I’ve ever had, but certainly not the worst. We started our meal with Vietnamese Spring Rolls which came with a nice, sweet peanut sauce — yummy! We were all very satisfied with the speed with which they arrived and the taste once we dove in and started eating. Our food came out very quickly after the appetizer — nice. I ordered Pad Thai (it’s my go to Thai dish by which I judge every Thai/​pan-​Asian restaurant) and it was good. Very good sauce, lots of extra peanuts on the side and tons of sprouts (yay!). Mix that together and add a bit of lime juice — heaven.
My boyfriend ordered the Crazy Spicy Noodles and he loved them. They were actually so spicy they cleared his sinuses — that’s a sign of good spice. I usually don’t like spicy things but I really enjoyed this. I probably couldn’t have ordered a whole plate but it was so tasty that I had a few bites. My boyfriend’s mom ordered the Drunken Noodles with shrimp and finished her whole plate, so you know it was good.
All in all, a nice dining experience. We weren’t there for more than an hour, so the service was friendly and quick. The place started filling after we started eating and there’s only about 10 tables in the whole restaurant so either get there early or prepare to wait. There was a group of people waiting in the lobby and they were served appetizers while they waited and they cracked open their beer — nice way to wait if you ask me. The prices are pretty cheap (our entire meal was like $ 25) and we were able to bring our own booze. Awesome.
