History

Established in 1994.

Practical Angle was started with the simple premise, that original artwork by local artisans and a unlimited selection of presentation frames for any artwork or image would be well received in Chicago.

Started by artists, it was based on a store concept in London that offered every item in the entire Winsor Newton catalog; oil, watercolor and acrylic paint, brushes, mediums, varnish. Not just the top volume sellers at discount prices as was the trend in U.S. retailing.

While we could not offer every frame we could research and edit the best quality at competitive prices from over 24 vendors. The result allows the client a choice of well designed options.

Over the years, customers have asked for more framing consultation and options. Currently, that is the majority of our business at the

Practical Angle. Although we still display original watercolors by leading artists, and showcase a range of period or antique frames.
