Unbelievable unhappy! If I could give zero or one half a star I would! Made a massage reservation for today (Mother’s Day) on their website 4+ weeks ago. I have gotten 4 automated confirmations– including one yesterday. My wife showed up for her appointment to lights out and spa closed… Website is now down… And phone is not working. WTF??? So much for my Mother’s Day present…

This place appears to be out of business. I showed up for my appointment today (after confirming by phone two weeks ago and getting an auto reminder) and no one was there and the place looks bare. The sad thing is that I have a gift card for a one hour massage and no place to use it. What a waste.

Do not go here. I recently went for a massage and have bruises all over my body as a result. It wasn’t it a massage, it was an hour of pure pain. I have never in my life had such an awful experience. I went here once before and didn’t love the massage but thought I’d give it another try since it’s close to TG Nails. I now have black and blue marks all over my body.

I came in for a massage and waited 30 minutes past my scheduled time. The masseuse never showed up.
Doesn’t get much worse than that.

I’ve had mixed experiences with this «spa.» I have been here several times as it is very close to my house, and my mom bought a 5 massage package for me. My massages have all been mediocre — it’s definitely not a spa atmosphere if that’s what you’re looking for, and none of the massages have been deep or thorough enough for me. I’ve had a few pedicures which were all fine. However, in terms of a professional atmosphere, this place stinks. Things have started 10 – 20 mins late for me several times, and no one is ever very apologetic. Once, I was called an hour before and my masseuse had called in and they had to cancel my appointment. In this one instance they did offer my massage to me for free. My last appointment was for a pedicure for me and two massages for my mom and her friend, all scheduled for 10 am. They informed me my pedi was put in for 11, which I would have never done considering the other appts were at 10. The woman was able to get there by 10:30, but the man working the desk never apologized or anything. I don’t plan on visiting again.

I have had two amazing massages here from two different massage therapists. Both were professional, vigorous, and paid attention to my needs — and with convenient evening hours, it works with my schedule. Most services are discounted Monday-​Thursday. I can’t wait to come back!

I should have read the recent reviews before booking a 90 minutes couples massage for my girlfriend and myself. My massage was the worst I have ever had. The Therapist Kelly was terrible and I don’t think she knows how to give a massage. She mainly sat on her stool and just leaned her elbows into my back. She constantly asked questions and at one point walked around the room knocking items over. I requested her to pay attention to my scalp and shoulders and she never touched my scalp just more diggings elbows into my back. The one positive was my girlfriend indicated her massage was good. My advice — be very selective in therapist before you book.

I get a Mani-​Pedi here for $ 30 during the week. Very nice owner and the ladies are pleasant:) Great price, good color selection and quiet during the day on Wednesdays!

I had an awful experience here and would recommend any nearby place over this one. I won’t be going back. They advertise a lot of deals on the windows but after you get your service you find out all the stipulations. I went in for a gel mani and regular pedi. On the window it says $ 30.00 for a mani pedi so I thought it may be $ 40.00 bc I was upgrading to a gel mani. I picked out my colors. But, they do not have exact regular polish to do toes to match your gel on your fingers so I found one close enough. She does my toes (looks very unprofessional) and then proceeds to do my nails. The color she was putting on my nails did not look like the example nail that I chose from. So I asked her about it and she seemed to look at my like I was crazy. Instead of asking me if I wanted another color she argued about it. Finally, she asked if I wanted another color after I said «I’m not crazy, this doesn’t look like what color is displayed and won’t match my toes at all.» She was in a hurry now and didn’t seem to care about what she was doing.
When she took me to the check out desk I asked what I owed and she said $ 65.00! I couldn’t believe it! I said, «that is more than double what a mani/​pedi is advertised for.» Then the boss said ok, $ 60.00. I asked what the $ 5.00 was for and they said to remove the gel I had on already. I have NEVER heard of that! I said it is still double a mani/​pedi. They proceeded to be unprofessional and have attitude. I said to forget it and even added the tip. She didn’t thank me. They huffed and puffed.
Please don’t go here! It was the most unpleasant experience, rip off, and I could have done a better job on my nails and toes. They don’t look good.

I came here with my friend when I decided to take some days off work and I am so glad I did.
I feel that every man/​woman should TREAT themselves to a day of pampering and if you are going to pamper yourself then you should give Pure Nirvana Spa a try.
The employees here rock, especially Ileana and Vanessa (if you want to get a manicure and/​or pedicure). Chad working the front desk is pretty cool as well. They all thought I was hilarious. My friend they thought lacked in the humor department.
Only downside is that they don’t take American Express! :-(

I really wanted to like this place, everything is new and clean and everyone is very nice, however my nails did not look as they supported to. I had the no-​chip mani and regular pedi done on Sat. By Monday i had to call and have them re-​done because 4 of my nail polish was coming off. Everyone was very nice about it and luckily they are open till 8pm so i had time to do it after work. The nail lady fixed the ones thatvwere coming off at no charge. Two days later all other no-​chip started to peel off. As long as i have been doing no-​chip they all usually stay for 2 sometimes even 3 weeks, not 2 days. I would not recommend this place. Very nice people but too many problems: (

Just returned from a mani/​pedi here. I’ve been waking by this spot for years. They just renovated after a fire and the space looks cute from the street. For a $ 30 mani/​pedi, I thought I’d check it out.
I had a 6:30 appt and when I booked it, the woman told me the last appt was at eight. Plenty if time. I got there and there was one other customer. The woman who did the service was nice enough. It was a standard pedi, but she seemed rushed. She dropped the foot scrubber on the floor a few times and then rinsed it in the water. With my feet in it. Gross. When the pedi was over I noticed my big toe was completely uneven. But on to the mani…
Again she rushed, didn’t do my cuticles, and told me since i chose a dark polish she couldn’t paint too close to my skin or she’d never get it off. What? I had to ask her to use the remover to clean it up. She didn’t escort me to the drying station and I carried my own things over with my wet nails.
The worst part was she rushed me out and wrapped my toes way too soon. I got home and both big toes are ruined. So frustrating! She clearly wanted to get out of there so she hurried me out.
I’ve had much better jobs done at other places on southport.

This is the third and final time I will go to this place. Went for a routine wax and the technician ruined my eyebrows. They are the thinnest they have ever been in my life. She specifically asked me if I like them thick, which I replied «yes» to and she proceeded to literally shape my brows identical to her own. I was furious, but remained calm and let her know that I was very upset. She didn’t even offer an apology.
Oh yeah, this is after I waited 20 min for my consultation bc the front desk lady never told my technician I arrived.
This place sucks.

I usually go to another nail salon on Southport but just moved across the street from Pure Nirvana, so I figured I’d give it a shot. The inside is well-​decorated and looks nicer than most nail salons, but that’s about the only nice thing I can say.
I got a mani pedi and am not satisfied with either service. My feet are still rough, and there is nail polish all over my skin. On my fingers, my cuticles look worse than they did before the manicure and the polish has already chipped. Plus, the woman who did my nails was extremely rude and didn’t even guide me to the dryer. The second she finished applying my top coat, she was on to the next person. Safe to say I could have done a better job and saved myself some money.

Months, months, and more months ago, the proprietor of this establishment e-​mailed me and offered to make nice by scheduling me a free appointment. I was willing to forgive, try again, then update my review, so I e-​mailed him back asking when we could schedule the appointment.
No reply. I’m not going to chase these guys around; if my business is as important to them as they say, they’d respond to contact that they initiated, no? Guess it’s not.

I’ve been going to this place for massages on and off for the last couple years. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The massage therapist are knowledgeable and very effective to helping you whatever may ail you.
It’s easy to make appointments here and the cost is reasonable. You can even take advantage of some of their package deals.
If you’re looking to loosen up, this is your place!

I went here on New Year’s Eve for the mere fact that it was conveniently located next door to TG Nails. The staff are friendly, but I wouldn’t spend any more money here. I got a brow wax for 20 dollars and honestly, I didn’t even think they took any hair off my face. I had to shape and clean up my brow and after paying someone to do this, I was irritated, disappointed, and just plain upset.
I normally wouldn’t review a place I was displeased with, but I need to give a forewarning to the next person.

For years, I’ve dreamed of a massage. A relaxing experience that would get rid of the knots in my back and shoulders. So when I got a gift card for Pure Nirvana for Christmas, I was so excited. Loose shoulders, here I come! Uhhh no.
I made the appointment for 5:30 and showed up about 10 minutes early. So far, so good. I was brought back to the room at exactly 5:30 and Megan left me alone to get undressed. She came back at 5:40 and proceeded to do a lot of pressing and no rubbing. For a week afterward, my shoulders and back were sore and I couldn’t lift my left arm. This was in no way relaxing. I emailed them about the problem with the pain afterward and they never responded.
I finally got my dream massage (review to come), but it wasn’t from here. This place was horrible.

Trying once again to find someone to work out the knots that reside in my back, shoulders, and neck… an appointment was set up a little closer to home. I had walked by Pure Nirvana Spa multiple times and it always looked a place I’d like. I was correct.
The moment you walk in there is a sense of calm and quiet, without them playing cheesy Yani type music. This was lovely coming from the snowy and loud street of Southport. The receptionist was courteous and professional. I parked it on one of their cute couches and flipped through a magazine for about 30 seconds before Deborah came to fetch me.
I was taken down a couple hallways (this place is much larger than I would have thought) and was welcomed into my own nicely decorated sanctuary. I explained my problem areas and Deborah went to town.
You could clearly tell that she knew exactly what she was doing and had a lot of techniques that I hadn’t experienced before, specifically gently stretching me while she massaged. I had a bad experience with being stretched during a massage at a different spa where I ended up feeling like an experiment as a human pretzel instead of a spa treatment. This was NOT the case here. I barely even noticed her moving me slightly, but I could tell that it helped her find and reach a lot of the hard to get knots.
After 60 minutes of a fantastic deep tissue massage, which was both relaxing and functional, I was ready to leave a happy customer. However, Deborah then gave me some stretches I can do on my own to help with my problem areas… which I really appreciated.
I would definitely recommend this spa, especially to those that live in the area. It is convenient, great setting, really good service, and not too pricey.

I mean, for real. My doc said massages might help my migraines… and WHO am I to argue with that Rx? I am not. I followed orders and booked one of the deals with Pure Nirvana. I’m such a good patient!
$ 60 for an hour?! $ 79 for 90 minutes?! (Monday-​Thursday, all day).
I opted for the hour long treat… I mean, «treatment.» Easily booked for a Tuesday afternoon, parked easily on a side street (or meters aplenty), very close to the Southport Brown stop.
I walked in from a hot, sweaty day… into a coooooooool, clean, brand spanking new building. Warmly greeted. Sat for about 2 minutes, then retrieved by Martina, and taken back to a crisp, cool room. Ahhhhh, AC. Just the right temp to combat the humidity outside, but make my muscles turn all «jello-​esque.»
Admittedly I was a bit worried about Martina. She was slight in stature, and her handshake was «dainty.» I thought «oh no, I need a shitkicker to beat the tense and stress right out of me.» Fortunately, my first impression was wrong… and Martina was MORE than adequate. Shitkicker on the inside with some skillz to match!
Perks:
–No flipflops, robes or rainshowers. I can do without these extras, I just want a good, old fashioned rub down.
–Massage began promptly at 3pm, and ended at 4pm. No skimping, it went the entire 60 minutes.
–Clean, spacious rooms with adequate room to move.
–Minimal lotions and oils, so I didn’t leave feeling like I needed to shower.
–Excellent technique, pressure, etc. I felt relaxed, yet that she was «challenging» my demonic deltoids. Points for Martina!
–No talking! My lord, I hate when massage therapists talk through the whole thing, and Martina was quiet as a church mouse, but stealthy like a ninja. NInja massage therapist. Go Martina!
— initial evaluation was brief, yet she paid attention. Much time was devoted to head/​scalp/​neck/​shoulders/​face. (migraine territory). Yay!
I left feeling noodle-​y, relaxed, and from start to finish the experience was pleasurable, yet therapeutic at the same time. For $ 75 ($ 15 tip), I got what I paid for, plus some. Would def return to Martina (obviously).
Treat (ment) yourself. Life is hard, lay down and get rubbed… a buck a minute! ;)
