Quartet Parapluie

THANK YOU Melissa and Quartet Parapluie! I knew the music would be great, but it far exceeded my expectations and created amazing memories for us. We had a small (30 people) wedding in Chicago, and Quartet Parapluie’s string trio created an intimate and inviting environment for all guests. We requested and purchased a song outside of their repertoire for our first dance song (Sigor Ros — Staralfur). It was beautiful! My husband love the song and having it played by a string trio was perfect for our first dance. My new husband, all the guests and I thoroughly enjoyed the music and it was a great conversation starter for people. I highly recommend Quartet Parapluie for an event! Having live music at our wedding was a decision we do not regret and is worth the value.

As a musician, and one who has previously worked in the wedding music industry, it was important for my husband and I to have live music throughout our wedding day. We knew the first music our guests would hear would be the ceremony music, and it would really set the mood for the day. Having worked with Melissa and Quartet Parapluie during my career in weddings and events, I knew they would be the perfect group to provide ceremony music for my own wedding. Whether you’re looking for classical or popular music, they play a wide variety of both styles. We went with a mix of both classical and popular, and it was a fantastic playlist for our eclectic style. Melissa is absolutely wonderful to work with. She truly cares about the weddings in which she plays and it shows. She is friendly, professional, honest, and very helpful in making music selections. We got married on St. Patty’s Day weekend and they even learned a couple Irish tunes. Our wedding was in a loft so the top of the bridal suite was open to the main area, which meant I could hear the entire prelude — part of my plan :) — and it was so beautiful. The perfect backdrop for the countdown to marrying my (now) husband. The processionals and recessional were also beautiful and they adjusted the timing perfectly for a very short aisle, and a fast-​walking nervous bride :) I HIGHLY recommend Quartet Parapluie, from a standpoint as both a wedding professional and a client. The group is incredibly talented, friendly, and professional and their rates are extremely reasonable. I can honestly say the ceremony, and especially the music, was one of my favorite parts of our entire wedding day. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with QP over the years and I’m not surprised they have such positive feedback from all of their clients — they are simply fantastic!

These ladies were SO EXCELLENT at our wedding in Preston Bradley Hall this past October. Melissa was extremely accommodating and we never had to worry about a thing. Our guests loved their performance during both the ceremony and cocktail hour. If you have a special request for a song, don’t hesitate to ask. They’ll do whatever they can to make it happen. We’d recommend this group to anyone!

My husband and I used QP for our April wedding this year and were very, very satisfied with them. Rebekah was quick to respond to my emails and from the start, was helping with answering any questions I might have. They have beautiful versions of many pop songs as well as classical songs, but will also create a piece for a relatively small fee (compared to the rest of the cost of a wedding) if there’s something in particular you want them to play.
They were very professional, arrived on time, and played very well. Their rates are also very competitive for string quartets and I think that given the quality of their playing, they are an excellent value and an easy way to make your wedding feel even more special and «you.» You won’t regret going with them!

I used Quartet Parapluie for our wedding this past July and I am so grateful I did. My husband and his dad are two generations of professional musicians so they can be difficult to please when it comes to live music. Needless to say, they were impressed which says a lot.
From the time I signed on with them until wedding day, Andra and the group were as professional, elegant, and as talented as they come. Andra would always respond to my emails and inquiries in a timely manner, provided us with sound clips and CDs to help familiarize me with the songs they had available in their repertoire, and even met up with me to go over the ceremony details and song selections vs. just coordinating via email.
Quartet Parapluie offers a wide variety of music — and have a long list of classical and popular songs to choose from. I wanted to walk down the aisle to a particular theme and they learned the music for me!
Tip: If there is a song you cannot find sheet music for, you can pay them to write it up for you for a very reasonable fee.
It’s been a month after my wedding and it is wonderful to hear that people still remember the music — a detail that can get overlooked or remembered if done poorly. I will keep them in mind for any future events I have or for helping friends and family as they plan their weddings. These girls are as good as it gets. I would recommend them to anyone.

We recently used Quartet Parapluie for our wedding ceremony and they did a really beautiful job on our big day! I have to say that I was a bit worried about finding a good quartet to play for our wedding. In my earlier years I was a violinist so I can tell when a note is out of tune or if someone ‘fudges’ a few notes, and believe me I’ve heard some bad performances in some weddings I’ve attended in the past few years.
I’m happy to say that these girls did an amazing job. We ended up going with a string trio, as it was more within our budget. After e-​mailing back and forth with Melissa and then finally meeting with her, my (now) wife and I decided that they were the ones. Melissa is very skilled and passionate about what she does and she has a great energy. She did a great job in giving us recommendations for songs for the procession and recession, etc as well as answering the many questions that I would e-​mail her. In addition, they offered a huge selection of songs to choose from ranging from classical to more modern songs that they’ve adapted to be played as a string quartet (or trio). For example, we chose Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve to be played as our recessional (when the ceremony ends and the bridal party exits). It was great, once we had the music picked out and the schedule finalized, Melissa pretty much handled the rest and talked with our officiant to make sure they were in sync with the timing during the ceremony. Would definitely recommend them!

We loved working with Melissa from Quartet Parapluie! We knew we wanted a string trio perform for our wedding ceremony (they give the option of quartet or trio) and they came highly recommended by another vendor that was not available on our date. Melissa was amazing to work with and gave us plenty of suggestions and options for songs based on the style of music we wanted, and they executed beautifully on our big day. She was exceptionally organized and contacted our officiant and wedding planner independently to ensure that they were all on the same page. Our guests were blown away and thought it was just lovely. My only disappointment is that as the bride I didn’t hear much of their performance since I was the last one into the ceremony and first one out! I am so thankful we chose Quartet Parapluie :)

Quartet Parapluie was referred to us by friends who had them play at their wedding. We contacted Melissa Bach and she was gracious enough to work with our schedules, since we don’t live in Chicago. We arranged a meeting and communicated by email and when our wedding day came they played beautifully. I couldn’t have asked for a more elegant touch to our wedding. I will always remember how they put Coldplay’s «Viva la Vida» to string. I would definitely recommend them for your special day.

Quartet Parapluie were AMAZING. Melissa was kind enough to meet us late on a weekday to show us our options, and I felt like she really took her time out to get to know the both of us, in order to make her recommendations. Not only were they professional, I felt like their price range was within our budget (actually, even lower than what we thought it would be!).
