RCN

I really don’t know if RCN service or the installation process is good or not. But I got the most bogus and misleading phone call from them today. I had called them for an estimate a few days ago and it turned out the be higher than what I am paying for Comcast so I obviously opted to stay with Comcast.
With Comcast I am paying $ 84.99 for Digital Preferred with 2 DVR’s included in the price. RCN quoted me $ 64.99 for their equivalent package but once they added on the equipment fees it was more than Comcast. The RCN rep who called me back to try to convince me to switch said that she was going to try to get me a better offer. She tried to convince me to bundle phone, internet and tv.
When I told her that I liked my AT&T landline because it is cheap ($ 19/​mo), works in power outages and does not require battery back up she immediately told me that the FCC mandated AT&T to phase out copper lines by the end of this year and that my service would be turned off. That is not true, either she was misinformed or completely lying. Although there has been some talk about phasing out copper service, even from AT&T, it is not just around the corner like the RCN rep would have had me believe, and may not even happen at all.
Second, she asked me who I had for internet. When I told her I had AT&T internet she insisted that it was only 6 mbps because it was DSL over copper phone lines and that RCN could give me a much faster speed. When I told her I had 18 mbps she didn’t seem to believe me and told me that it was probably 6 mbps because it goes over the phone lines. Again, very untrue. I have Uverse internet and it’s definitely 18 mbps as I have done speed tests to check.
RCN must have thought I was a real sucker. I would never do business with them even if they offered me a better deal than Comcast. Do they really think they can say whatever they want just to get someone to switch over? If they deceive you like that before you are their customer I wonder what they tell you after you switch to RCN!!!

Unfortunately my building has a contract with RCN. Let me start off by saying my DSL elite service from 15 years ago (5 Mbps) has better connection than my current 25 Mbps service with RCN. I just did a speed test and it is showing 0.25 Mbps. The technician was nice, the representative was nice but that doesnt change anything. The connection just suck balls!

If you don’t read any of the review, let me say in the first sentence they get a bad review because their technician threatened our pet, and RCN has not even apologized much less tired to make it right.
Wow. I don’t even know where to begin with how bad of an experience I’ve had with this company. I’ve been with them for maybe four years now. They’ve never been good. Let me start with that. But I always thought they’re probably the lesser of two evils with comcast being my other choice. But they’d not good.
Well I recently moved and called to schedule an appointment. I got told that it wouldn’t be necessary and that I should just have to call in and they can activate the internet over the phone. Awesome. I’ll do that.
I move in and give them a call. They can’t activate over the phone. Shocking. RCN customer service is wrong and not knowledgeable yet again. So I schedule to have a technician come to my apartment. Ugh.
He arrives on time and just kind of saunters on in. This is the beginning of the absolute worst customer service experience I’ve ever had with any company. This man just says «I’ll get it hooked up, I shouldn’t have to come back up here, have a good day» then walks back outside leaving me to wonder if he’s even doing anything.
After about thirty minutes he comes up, says once the router is done booting I’ll have internet and takes off. No testing his work, no ensuring we actually get internet, he just leaves. About an hour later, surprise surprise, this man who didn’t look qualified to make my McDonald’s burger didn’t correctly set the internet up, and since he was gone, I now have to call their awful customer service again.
RCN in all their infinite wisdom sent this same technician back to my apartment to fix it. Lovely decision, what could go wrong?
Well he walks in, looks around the apartment, and just starts walking out again, mumbling that «I’ll go fix it.» As he’s walking out, he sees we have a cat. He stops right by the cat and I can only describe what he does next as threatening my cat.
He grabbed it’s tail and slowly started a low meow which quickly turned into a threatening hiss. He then sprayed some sort of spit into the air, and just walked out of our apartment. I can’t stress this enough, RCN’s technician came out and THREATENED our pet. It gets worse. I assure you.
After walking out, we never saw from him again. As far as I know he walked out, got in his truck, and went home. So I had to call RCN up AGAIN. This is going on hour number 4 now of this appointment.
Thru continue to put me on hold then tell me someone will be in contact with me shortly. I finally get a call and get a technician out to fix it after 6 hours from my original appointment date.
To make matters worse, there have been no attempts by RCN to make this matter right. Not only was I lied to originally, I had to call them to get their technician to come back out since he didn’t even test his work, then RCN threatens our cat, then forces me to call again because their technician just drove off, then has me wait another hour for a new technician to come out.
This company is a nightmare. I do not feel safr knowing this other technician has my address. Why should I live in fear now because I wanted my internet set up? What kind of company threatens a customer and doesn’t even attempt to make ammends for it? I didn’t even get a sorry for Christ’s sake.
So let me recap:
— I get told I can set up my internet over the phone
— I find out I can’t so I schedule a technician
— He doesn’t test his first work so I have to call back
— 3 hours from the original appointment he comes back
— He threatens our cat
— The technician drives away. Let me remind you he drives away after not fixing our internet and after threatening our cat. Can’t stress enough he threatened our pet.
— Get out on hold for about 45 minutes until someone finally stays they’ll gave someone out
— RCN threatened my pet.
Do not even consider this company. It is full of scumbags and violent technicians who you do not want to let in your home. I can’t stress enough how bad of a cosmos this is.
Do. Not. Even. Consider. Them.

Bottom line! They suck … But it is the only service I can get in my building … Can not wait to move so I can get some better cable. But wait, I have a smart tv do not need rcn cable! #RCNsucks

Dear RCN,
Your service sucks. I am usually a very diplomatic person, however, this time you have pushed me over the edge and I have cancelled all of my service as of immediately. I have been a RCN customer for four years in Chicago. When I signed up with RCN I was told you don’t play games, no promotions, blah, blah, blah just fair prices. BS! After 12 months I learn that I am indeed part of a promotion and my bill jumps up over $ 24. a month for basic cable and internet. That brings it to $ 147 a month. Are you insane? That is larceny. AND your agents can not pass on comments for customers so I have to waste more time letting you know how bad your service is. AND your phone loop is painful and a customer has to go through the prompts at least twice to get to a real person. AND your bills are confusing. I can only assume that all of this is intentional. Well smarten up RCN and understand that you are providing a service and I have a choice. Bye Bye RCN.

Getting cable and Internet from these people has been a 4 day battle. I called last week to get cable and Internet installed and gave my social, new address and all that. He said he would call me back with a time to install… never did. Whatever, I figured they were busy and called back the next day. Talked to some lady who said I was not in the system so I had to redo everything. Again, things happen… I wanted to just keep the process going… she booked me an appointment and then two days later no one showed. Went thru the same process and for the next appointment no one showed. I called and they transfer me to so many people bc no one wanted to take the time to deal with me. Finally I talked to someone and requested to talk to the manager/​person in charge. She was actually the only person who was helpful. She explained exactly what was going on with my account. She was the only person to apologize about all of this and the only person who walked me thru what needed to be done. She gave me a free month and free installation which is the only reason why I stayed.
When they came this morning to install they brought all the wrong equipment and I had to walk over to the hardware store to get the supplies.

I have a bundle plan with RCN: Internet, home phone and basic cable. My internet connection is bad and I’ve tried everything, including power cycling, connecting directly to the router, and installing new routers and modems to increase the connection and speed. Nothing really works. I often lose connection. I’ve had technicians come out several times. I like the cable TV service and I need a home phone for my on-​call work, so I’d have to drop the bundle plan and switch to another company if I wanted to quit their internet service. It’s not a bad deal for $ 150-​ish a month, but they can’t seem to fix the problems with the internet connection.

This service is fine, at best.
My technician evidently answered all of the security questions himself (I.e. What his favorite food was, etc.), so setting up my account was trickier and more annoying than I anticipated. WHY WOULD HE DO THAT? I don’t know what you like to eat, man. Other annoyances include service randomly ceasing to work even though I paid my bill early, and then having to have a technician come out and reconfigure my box. I’ve only had the service for a month or so, so the amount of issues that I have is pretty ridiculous. Also, I get maybe five channels, so basically I’m paying for wifi and Netflix and thinking about buying a Fire stick so that I can stream Prime and Hulu (whose contract with RCN is allegedly in the works). Customer service is super nice and helpful when I call though!
Whatever, you get what you pay for — don’t expect much!

I know Comcast is expensive and has really poor customer service. That’s why we tried RCN. I wish I could give RCN a negative rating. Their on demand is a joke and consistently has problems. We only have the basic package and tivo in two rooms and our monthly bill is $ 160. Also, they shut off our service because we were a little behind. Without warning us, they added a «one time charge» of $ 42.82 to start it back up.

I don’t know why the reviews are so bad– unless Google Fiber arrives tomorrow to save the day, I will stick with RCN. They automatically get a star for not being Comcast. When I call, I can talk to an actual human being after waiting for a few minutes (not hours), problems are resolved within 24 hrs and I have never experienced huge drops in speed. There have been a few outages but they also affected other buildings in the neighbourhood. My bill differs by a few dollars each month but customer service sorts it out no problem.

I’ll give them 2 stars because they at least bring tv to my home but that’s about it. Constant issues with Cable, TiVo, OnDemand and Internet. They have brought us several boxes to replace and still have issues. If you have a choice don’t choose RCN.

I love RCN. always have been a fan. the price point is reasonable compared to its peers, the service is reliable and the support is well… supportive!

RCN sucks. My internet for 64.00 a month is complete crap. I can’t even watch a movie and the wireless speed is slower than dial up when it first came out. The internet constantly cuts in and out, and it basically useless. My building only gives RCN as the option and I can’t wait to move.

RCN posted a $ 212 balance on my account on June 7, 2015. After calling weekly, call I.C. Services the creditor stating the balance was $ 0, it still appears on my credit report, taking me down 86 points. The account specialist Nick never added a sku number to locate my equipment prolonging this for an additional 4 months.
My service was out for 3 weeks whereby a credit was never issued, and I.C. Services and RCN have failed to send me proper, requested documentation stating my account was at zero balance to dispute the matter with credit reporting companies,
Try another service.

I would advise anyone and everyone to steer clear of RCN. At this point, Comcast is the lesser of two evils. This is not even based of the quality of service, which I never even had a chance to experience as there were constant delays getting the service up and running in my area. However, there was no effort made to relay this information to me and as such wasted my day waiting for installations on 3 separate occasions. No phone calls, no voicemails, no emails, nothing. I was guaranteed twice that the service would be ready in my area by the following installation date, and so I willingly waited. Each time, they gave me the run around. Unbelievably, they tried to do so a third time.
A severe lack of communication, unreliable customer service, and a general lack of professionalism makes me think they are the worst provider in the area, which is saying a lot.

If I can give Zero start I would do. One start is too much. The worst company ever. Bad services and bad internet. You will fine a punch of bills comes to you with no reason.

Where do I begin!!!
One star is a generous gesture and that’s only given For the reps I’ve dealt with. The company in every way needs a whole lot of cleaning up. They truly don’t make it easy for their customers. I can not even access my online account, I cannot reset password, I cannot set up account on my phone because they make it difficult. And when I tried to chat with a rep online, I got a message that at this time everyone is busy with other customers. I’ve called them so many times for various reasons I’m tired of calling! They know how to collect $$$ well. I stopped my automatic payment because I noticed charges that didn’t make sense. We have had multiple cable boxes changed, Internet runs slow. If my building wasn’t hooked up with them we would go back to out directv. Consider other options for your cable and Internet.
I would like to know who runs this company! They are truly clueless.

Internet connect is ok, but the customer service is terrible. I have been rcn customer for more than two years and now I decide to switch my internet provider.

We moved into Chicago last year and signed up with RCN under a promotion for a basic internet package. The installation went smoothly and the RCN associate that set everything up was very friendly. The internet speeds were probably better than advertised (we had 4 – 5 devices for a recommended 3 device service). For the entire year of service, the Internet was down for maybe 30 minutes total. I understand this review is based on a limited time, but our impression of RCN is a good one. Unfortunately, RCN is unable to service our new apartment so we have to switch. The cancellation call, which can often be a nightmare, was quick and simple. I would absolutely check out RCN in the future and would recommend it for anyone looking for a basic Internet service.

I am not a customer, but I was sent a confirmation email with an account number and other details. I immediately called to let the company know, and was told that they could not do anything. The young man then told me to ignore the email. I think with all of the identity theft going on they should have taken my call seriously, instead of asking me if I needed assistance with anything else. What if I was looking to us their information to help myself. RCN needs to work on this security issue. I am glad they are not my provider.

2 stars because the Internet service is amazing and fast and cheaper than their competitors.
They use refurbished materials, which would be good if they worked. The past month… also the first month of my service… I’ve had to rearrange life so that a tech could come and change remote controls /​cable boxes over 5 times because the boxes wouldn’t read the remote’s signal. Very annoying. Never had this issue with Comcast. I honestly would go back to Comcast if my condo association didn’t have a deal with RCN because this is ridiculous! I basically now know every technician that works there! They’re nice ppl but the refurbish situation is inefficient and annoying! I just want to watch tv and not have to get up and hit the button on the box to change the channel!

CONDOS: BE WARNED! (And RCN I would love a response).
It all comes down to the time I was near tears and asking about cancellation options and was LAUGHED at and MOCKED (not quite literally, but not hidden) by a customer service representative and her friend in the background because I did not have any other options. (More on this below [original review] but I wanted to make sure those considering switching were drawn to this review). Out of the principle, I almost paid an extra $ 20 – 40 a month for a limited amount of cellular data for the home (from Verizon) just because I don’t think companies should be able to kick you and then laugh at you because you are stuck with this abusive relationship. My husband talked me out of it, explaining it made more sense to spend my energy creating a petition within our condo… but after writing this review and reliving some of my experiences (completely ignoring the setup frustrations from Aug-​Oct), I’m seriously considering the Verizon option again.

Conclusion first:
1) (Only positive). Once technician appointment is approved, scheduling is exceptional and two-​hour appointment windows wonderful. Technicians have also been kind and knowledgeable.
2) The problem: getting the appointment set up. If I call ten times about the same problem (and trust me it takes, at least, five times per minor issue), I will have to explain my situation to at least ten different customer service representatives and will receive ten different suggestions… and only the last one will work… at least temporarily. I understand how business works and am compassionate. I get similar complaints all the time (i.e. «I already told the med tech, nurse, and medical student what is going on. Do I have to tell you again.» And my answer is always, «Yes, I need to take my own history I listen with a different set of information in the back of my head and through a different lens and don’t want my understanding of what you’re saying to be tainted by what the nurse understood.») But this is more like explaining the problem to one nurse, calling back and explaining to another nurse, calling back explaining to another nurse… etc. until finally I get angry enough that they agree to call in the specialist. (I have to add that nurses, like customer service representative, are amazing and knowledgeable and often have great solutions… I digress (I know, this is a summary).
3. I have lived in this condo for six months and still do not have reliable cable. I have spent hours; I would guess close to twenty hours, trying to email, chat, wait on hold, and self-​diagnose the problems. Still I have not been offered any compensation.
4. Most individuals I have spoken with are kind, which is why I am giving them an extra star. But the one lady (and her friend in the background that laughed at me and explained that I had not another option in my condo for internet service was enough to leave me permanently upset.

I’m increasing my review from 1 to 2 stars only relative to my previous condo cable company that I had the pleasure of being frustrated by (direct-​tv… in particular via Access Media 3). I’m impressed because a representative did read me review (below) and contacted me via Unilocal explaining that if I called (again), I would be helped. Because I was so angry, I knew it would be better to have my brother call, so I didn’t take out all of my frustration on one customer service representative. A wide selection of service appointments were presented and two days later (actually it was MLK Jr. day, so I was impressed that they had anyone available) a wonderful0 technician was at my condo on time within their two-​hour time window. He fixed the big problem (living room) and temporarily fixed the little problem (another tv0). A few days later I exhaled and called again… after 30 minutes of running THE SAME diagnostic/​troubleshooting tests that I have done several times and being treated like an idiot (not exaugurating but I’m out of room), she agreed that I needed a technician to look at the box, again. As frustrating as this is, a next day appointment was offered it me… so I’m trying to be grateful and adding a star.
Shoot Unilocal (rightfully so) won’t let me write anymore. I can’t waste any more time on this anyway. Won’t proofread or conclude because I’m out of characters and time… but know I could write a twenty-​page essay on all of my negative experience and maybe a larger paragraph about several reasonable customer service representatives.

Everytime it’s the same story with these people: they increase or add fees, but then their own employees fail to make any sense of it and can’t explain to you exactly what a $ 21 increase was for. The last one said «oh it’s just a yearly increase». When i asked to speak with a manager (as usual), i got another rep who thought she could help. Response? «pls read the 4^th page, it’s written there is an increase». Umm yea, it says there is a $ 2 increase… what about the remaining $ 19 ??? i finally get a hold of a manager after 25 minutes. Response? Oh ! your 12 month promotion has ended but the great news is that we put you on a NEW promotion !! and now you will only have an increase of $ 21.
So basically, they are telling an old customer, with a straight face, that they are charging her $ 21 more by telling her it’s a promotion !
i asked the manager in every possible shape, form and language what can possibly be done about this huge bill from now on, there was no way around it.
BUT: bingo, AT&T have been mailing me offers every week for a year asking to pay ME to switch to their service. Great timing, RCN, and well done.

Condo building has bulk services agreement with RCN. Big mistake. They take the money — lots of money — and deliver no service. Five visits so far for sane issue that is still not fixed — because the problem is upstream from my unit but they insist on only looking in my unit (easier to replace a splitter or fitting than troubleshoot upstream, even though splitter, etc. are all fine). Dedicated service phone number for upgraded service just rolls over to general know-​nothing number. No service ticket. No tracking. Complete ripoff.

Happy to be contributing to the plethora of 1-​star reviews for RCN. My story involves incompetency, gross negligence, and errant billing. I used to have cable and Internet through them, but after my building’s HOA switched primary service over to Comcast, I elected to keep my Internet service with RCN but forego the cable service. They kept billing me for cable, however, for months beyond my cable cancellation date. I reported the issue but RCN refused to credit my account for the full amount of the incorrect billing. I continued to make payments of $ 51.44/month to pay for my Internet (which by the way, includes a $ 1 bullshit «convenience fee»), letting various late fees and re-​connection fees accrue.
My current balance is $ 100-​some dollars, which I of course refuse to pay, because it’s all based on RCN’s mistake of overbilling me for cable. Now they’ve turned my Internet off as well. I still have continued to pay $ 51.44/month, including a payment made yesterday. I just called them, and they refuse to re-​activate my Internet. The line also became disconnected while I pleaded my case with «customer service». I put «customer service» in quotes because what they offer can hardly be called «customer service». Maybe «customer frustration» or «customer hatred» or «customer cheating» would be a more apropos description. Unfortunately that means it’s the end of my storied relationship with RCN. I will no longer be making any more payments and am happy to use Comcast Internet or the service of many startups offering fast mobile Internet.

I get internet through RCN. It’s faster than AT&T, just as fast as Comcast and the upload speeds are great. I get 3 times the speed as AT&T for half the price. I get the same speeds as Comcast for less. In a year and a half I’ve had downtime once for maybe less than an hour.
I go to sleep at night knowing I’m not supporting a huge corporation trying to control every aspect of my media consumption. What’s not to love?
If you don’t like their TV channel offerings at least switch for the internet.

Honestly, terrible service. I routinely get 25% of what I pay for. And I’d say I never get higher than 80% of what I pay for. It’s always down, if you call them their reps will tell you it’s their fault. I had one even tell me if the speeds are above 60% of what I’m promised they won’t come out and look at it. I bet if I sent them 60% of the bill I owe them they wouldn’t accept that, so why do I only get 60% of what I pay for?
Do yourself a favour, don’t get RCN. Ever. No matter how low their price. It isn’t worth it. This is one of the worst wireless companies out there, maybe worse than Comcast. There’s a reason they have 2 stars.

And once more in case the review wasn’t clear enough: do not get RCN, they are an awful sleezy company to do business with.
Edit: So I was contacted by RCN and they ran some diagnostics and found my router wasn’t giving me the full speeds I needed. They offered to contact me and set up an appointment to replace my router with the correct one for my speeds.
I recently had my speed upgraded remotely so I understand why the router wasn’t working and wasn’t replaced when it upgraded. However, now that it has been replaced I’m getting very, very fast speeds. We pay for 110, and through the router right after installation, I got 136! Incredible.
So their speeds are fantastic, when they work. If you’re getting RCN, I can now say I’d recommend it, but ask for their newest routers. They work fantastically. And their prices are lower than most places, so you get a great deal for them.
I still wish it hadn’t taken so long to work, but when they’re right they’re right. And they work extremely well right now. Very fast speeds for very reasonable prices. And no data cap like Comcast!

The worst TV/​internet company I have ever had the displeasure of working with, and that roster includes Time Warner, Comcast, and AT&T. Our complex offered RCN TV for free– FREE– and I would NOT take it again if I had the option.
Our complex offered RCN TV for free and the last tenants had left behind a box of equipment. The tech was going to use that but couldn’t get it working, so he brought in a new box. On move out, I was told that I could just leave the box for the next tenant– the same as what the tenants before us did. So we left it and moved.
A month later, I got a call from RCN asking about the box. I told them what the rep said before and they «made a note.» I got another call a week later. Of course, there was no note on the account. I had to explain it again. And then again the next week.
Finally, a rep explained that even though IT WAS THEIR MISINFORMATION that made me leave the box behind, I was STILL RESPONSIBLE. How much did they want for this box? Over $ 300! Keep in mind, this is their most basic TV box. I got a shipping label and sent it to the landlord/​new tenants.
I continue to receive calls from RCN at least twice a week. Each time, I have to explain the situation again, explain I’m still waiting to hear back from the landlord/​new tenants, and give them the tracking number again. Each time, I ask how long I have to resolve the issue, since it’s not under my control. Every time, they assure me that I have as long as I need since «[my]account is technically already closed.»
Today, I got a call threatening to send my account to collections, to the credit reporting, etc., if they didn’t have the equipment in hand by next Monday. I was informed there was a hard deadline of 60 days and «Oh by the way, that deadline is a holiday so you’re basically screwed unless you pay us now.»
TL;DR: RCN makes the customer pay for the mistakes of its ridiculously incompetent, misinformed customer service reps.

Im going to give them 4 stars only because of the price issue. They had been raising our bill constantly, almost every month the total amount would be increased by 2 – 3 dollars, so eventually we had to cancel because of this. Once we got a letter saying that they forgot to charge us for something and the bill would be increased by $ 5, hmmm ok fine, few other times they said that prices for them (i don’t remember exactly what for) have increased so they had to raise everyone’s bills as well… However for 4 years we had constant service without interruptions and i didn’t call technical support at all, not even once! Internet was fast, tv was working fine.
I can recommend RCN, but check your bill carefully.

Been a loyal customer for 6+ years, but when Bank of America had a security breach and cancelled my card, I got slammed with declined auto pay fees. Apparently, it will take two billing cycles for my new auto pay to kick in, and I may have managed to switch my service by then. The person I talked to on the phone was incredibly unhelpful and when I told her my connection had gotten really slow she offered to sell me a higher speed, but couldn’t tell me how much it would cost. She put me on hold to investigate and eventually came back to tell me I would need to hold longer. Is that salesmanship? I told her it sounded like a simple thing to look into and she said, «it sounds like it, but it’s not.»
After years with this company, and this is how I’m treated. They’ve pissed me off before, but I think this is the end. I would cancel now except that I work at home and can’t have any service interruption.

Worst service ever.
Internet connection was disturbingly slow.
They charge an arm, leg, back, uterus and skull for movie channels.
Never. Again. In. Life.

I want to give them a zero start if I could !
The building I live in only provides RCN so I have no choice ! Their customer service sucks, they never try to solve your issue ! My wifi speed is very slow around like 30 – 40, but I’m paying for 100gb speed. They sent 4 staff to solve it and no one was able to solve the issue. And when I called them they were like this is my building issue, not theirs. Also, no expectations for them to update your bill! Always charge me extra! Glad soon I will move out from that building so I will never choose RCN ever again! Moreover I will tell everyone I know don’t choose RCN! How does this company survive !!!

I was paying over $ 100 a month for cable and TiVo without even having HBO, showtime etc. for what? Totally ridiculous. Every time I tried to lower the bill ‘nothing could be done’
Secondly, when I sold my tv I was left with my iPad and I downloaded RCN on the go, but did it work??? NO! Bc even tho I pay $ 100 per month for cable & TiVo, the box wasn’t ‘updated’ enough (even though it was under a year old) so I wasn’t able to watch anything. When I called the customer service line, the person was rude to me and insisted that I pay an extra $ 40 for an updated TiVo box. Ya, please charge me for the box so I can pay your company a total of $ 140 now… No f’ng way! What the hell is the point of RCN on the go anyway) if you can’t use it at your own convenience? I find all of that nonsense to be complete and utter bullshit and on top of that, horrible customer service. I will never use this company again.

RCN has had mixed results in my opinion. The good stuff:
–Super easy for me to get installed in two different locations
–It was very easy, technically, to transfer services between two locations
–My internet speed has been consistent across numerous locations and I’ve had very few outages
The lousy stuff:
–When they transferred my services they created a new account without telling me and enrolled me in online billing so I got nothing in the mail. They of course didn’t transfer my recurring billing so two months later my service just died and they claimed I hadn’t been paying my bill. Well, I hadn’t, cause I had no idea they created a brand new account for me. Ridiculous.
–When my modem died I had the option of paying 50 dollars for a tech to come bring me a new one or to trek out to their office in BFE to pick one up myself. Perhaps offer an option to overnight the new modem to me next time?
My personal opinion is both RCN and Comcast are mediocre businesses, but my personal experience has been that Comcast is far worse than RCN.
