History

Established in 1997.

The original Robert Jeffrey Hair Studio was established nearly 40 years ago by top stylist Robert LaMorte, and it has continually evolved with the times.

At Robert Jeffrey, all of our staff members receive a top-​notch beauty and grooming education. They go through a lengthy and renowned post-​graduate training program that focuses on creating a completely customized look for every client. Stylists also attend monthly advanced-​education classes with top educators, so they can always offer the latest in classic styles with an edge. This extensive training program has produced some of the most talented stylists in Chicago.

Business Owner

Patrick is a working partner and highly accomplished stylist at the Lakeview location. He has attended many prestigious workshops, including Vidal Sassoon Advanced Academy in London, KMS Advanced Academy California, Fredric Fekkai in NYC and the London L’Oreal Technical Center. Patrick loves helping his clients find the perfect color and cut for them. His ultimate goal is to help everyone feel fantastic about the way he or she looks!

I go to Taylor now (Julio moved on) and she’s always great at consultations, coming up with new ideas, and keeping things current. She is now a senior stylist which she totally earned. Get on her schedule while you sill can.

I don’t like leaving negative comments and I restrained myself from doing so as long as I could, but months later I’m still dealing with the results of a horrible experience at this salon.
I went in for a loose body wave. The lady pulled out tiny curlers and proceeded to perm my hair. I told her about halfway through that my scalp was hurting, like it was burning. I was told that was normal. When the curlers were removed a number of them fell into the sink with my hair still attached. Another stylist pointed it out but she didn’t say anything. I left there with a tight frizzy perm, hair stubs about an inch long, burned patches of hair and red bald spots in my scalp. I was told that it would relax and to come back at a later date to trim of all the burnt hair.
It didn’t relax and I didn’t go back.
There are a million other salons in the city, I highly suggest you go to any other one than this. It was a really horrible, costly experience.

Great hair salon in Lakeview. I was recommended by a friend for this location and stylist and have been going ever since. The service is very convenient (they send you a text the day before your appointment confirming) and always let you book another appointment as you’re leaving. I highly recommend doing this because booking an appointment the week of is nearly impossible. I guess its just that popular.

I don’t normally get on here and write reviews, but I went to Evelynn last night to get my hair retouched for a balayage after getting it done back at a salon in Michigan and not loving it. This is a time consuming service, that requires a lot of attention to detail, and she took her time and made sure it was perfect. I am very grateful. She was absolutely so sweet, and listened to what I wanted, as well as offered great feedback and ideas. I am a very, very happy girl, And absolutely will be returning to her. I was referred here to see Conor, who also did an amazing job on my friends hair.

It is very rare that I write reviews on Unilocal.I can’t say I had a really bad experience at Robert Jeffrey but the whole I felt super awkward. I was being told things like «oh you’re hair is uneven on both sides», «I sure hope your shampoo is color treated», «what kind of shampoo/​conditoner do you use?», «just a warning, this is usually an extra 20, but I’ll charge you 10», «is this the color you want on your hair». I don’t typically try new salons and I won’t be returning. My hair looks the exact same as when I walked through the door and I spent over $ 180 dollars. I will go back to my original stylist whom I can show a picture of what I want, get your professional opinion, and enjoy my experience from there. I knew I was working with someone new when I was here because it was question after question instad of being consultative.

Got a Groupon for a balayage and a haircut and I’m very happy that I did! Elena and the rest of the staff were wonderful. I don’t do the best job explaining what color I want for my hair, but Elena listened and showed me hair color samples to make sure she understood what I wanted. The cut was great too. Loved the great deal and the results!

This is not a review for the Taylor who cut my hair, she was very pleasant and did a great job. My poor review is due to the terrible service I received from the receptionist. He treated me like I was an inconvenience at every interaction (from booking on the phone to paying to some basic questions I had). I would chalk it up to a bad day but this was over the course of multiple dates. I have an appointment there again in October but I will be cancelling it. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a pleasant greeting from someone in customer service, or just to be treated like your business is valued. There’s plenty of salons out there… I’ll just find a new one that understands how to be kind to people.

I’ve been going to Connor for cuts and color for years, and now he cuts my husbands hair too. He is the BEST stylist in the city… So talented and reasonably priced. 3 years ago I moved out of the neighborhood, and now I drive the 30 minutes to go see Connor because I don’t want to switch salons.

I got the best haircut of my life from Mark D! It was my first time going to this salon and Mark did a truly wonderful job! I will definitely be going back to him for any of my hair needs. I’ve been in Chicago for 3 years and have yet to find a stylist that I really jived with.

I went on the recommendation of a friend, and I am so sad I didn’t go to him sooner! He’s warm, funny, kind, and made me look gorgeous. He did exactly what I asked, and the style is easy for me to do at home, even though I’m blowdry-​challenged.
I can’t wait to see him in 6 – 8 weeks, or possibly before then for tiki drinks.

Go see Dee! You won’t be disappointed. She’s extremely knowledgeable and listens to what you’re saying and what you’re trying to say. She’s a true pro! I used to walk into the chain hair cut places and just leave with whatever they did to my hair, often times walking away feeling unfulfilled. Then I found Dee. She’s first stylist I began seeing regularly in over 10 years! I always walk away thrilled with my new cut and with a bounce in my step.

I got my balayage and cut done by Becky a couple weeks ago and I’m so happy with the color! I wanted the highlights pretty subtle and she nailed it. I’ve already booked my next appointment with her in April. Everyone I dealt with (shout-​out to the front desk for getting me a next day appointment!) was friendly, so it was a great experience overall.

I can’t rate the whole salon, but I can’t say enough great things about Brian P!!! He’s a friggin’ genius. I get compliments on my hair all the time! Seriously, he’s great.
Ask for prices first! Different stylist charge different rates. I personally feel that when they are scheduling you with a stylist the charges more than your regular person they should disclose that upfront. Also you can’t tip on your credit card which is annoying.
Those minor things aside it’s still an amazing place to get haircut if Brian P is your stylist!

Ok, first, shout out to Mark D., who cuts my hair regularly. He does an amazing job and when I say I want low-​maintenance hair, he gives me a cut that actually IS low-​maintenance. And he’s fun to talk to.
Now, this is about my wedding. I booked with Robert Jeffrey because I wanted a calm morning of getting ready, not a rushed one-​person stylist team in my cramped hotel room. This was perfect. 3 bridesmaids and myself got our hair done. Mark D., Tim and Brittany did blowouts for the girls. Brittany did my hair. Taylor did all of our makeup. Everyone looked great. I could wax hyperbolic about it all, but I’ll spare you. Just know that I thought everyone looked great.
My hair was freaking set. While it was soft, it stayed all night with no touch ups. Not one pin came out.
My makeup stayed with me having to oil blot only once. My makeup was on for 12 hours. Super impressive.
And they let us take over the manicure table and have mimosas and breakfast set up. They were super accommodating, and it made an impact.

Brian — Gives Good Head!!!
I have been seeing Brian for the past 5 years. He is great at men’s hair styling (natural hairline on back of neck, texturing, shaving, etc.). I always leave feeling hotter than when I went in.
Ask for Brian, sit in his chair and let him do what he knows best — bringing sexy back.

I have been living in Chicago for over a 2 years now. I always ask other blondes where they get their highlights done since I am trying to find that «gem» where the price is right and the stylist gets my color just right. I have had numerous experiences of stylist over processing my hair and leaving me to look like a glow stick.
Well after asking a friend I have found my gem and it is this salon. They were able to get me in within a day and were completely accommodating!
Jamie cut and highlighted my hair better than anyone has in years! She listened to what I wanted and paid more attention to cutting my hair than then anyone has before.
The color perfectly matched my true blonde tones and the cut left my hair feeling so clean and healthy. She made my hair look more natural than anyone ever has. I will be returning to Robert Jefferey and Jamie again sometime very soon!
