Horrible experience. They could care less if it’s your wedding outfit and they don’t have it ready in time.
I came here 6 weeks before my wedding to buy an outfit, picked it out but I wanted the same dupatta in a different color. They happily agreed to do it in that much time, I told them exactly when the wedding was and they promised it’d be here one week prior. Lo and behold it came 2 weeks after my wedding. They gave me a temporary dupatta that was in the same color family but completely different design than my outfit. I obviously didn’t use it. It’s my wedidng day, and I didn’t want to look like a hot mess with a mismatching dupatta.
And they weren’t even the slightest bit sympathetic or offer to reimburse me for the dupatta. Never again will I go back to Sahil.

Sahil is a pillar of the Devon Ave shopping area. They have been there for so long and are known by all. They have a beautiful store! I was very surprised at the amount of choices they had for men. The service is always great and you will no doubt leave with something you love!

After reading all the negative reviews, I visited Sahil last on Devon street. To much surprise their service was outstanding! Everyone who helped were so patient, friendly, and helpful. Within 1 hour, I had tried on 5 Lehenga outfits, selected one, and even got the alterations done! Mr Patel really helped me out on the price and getting my alterations done same visit. I will definitely visit again. While they are pricey, they have the best selection compared to the other stores I visited. And you pay for convenience, even though these dresses are not cheap in India either.

UPDATE: Owner contacted me and apologized and offered me a small discount. I changed my review from one star to two stars. His apology appeared sincere and he did say he tried to find out who it was and I really appreciated his message.
My first time on Devon Ave. I went specifically for bridal wear. Man, was it the worst experience I had. Thankfully I don’t take things too personal. Sahil. Smh (shaking my head). There were a couple of ladies that were pleasant. The one I was with was… well. Let me explain. Tried on the first lengha choli and it was really nice but just didn’t like it on me. I wanted to try on other dresses and she says to me, «It’s not going to fit you. You probably shouldn’t try on any others.» (There was another customer who I think she was more interested in so she was trying to get rid of me).
Knowing that she was trying to get rid of me I decided that I was going to stick around even though I definitely was not going to buy anything from her. Just because. So I tried on quite a few others and she was so rude. My wedding is soon and on short notice and the other bride that was there was in June of next year. So my little brown friend would make comments like, «See. She is starting now. Why didn’t you do the same?» And she’d make faces or shake her head. Very impatient. Not professional.
It was a really BAD experience. I don’t think I’ve had that kind of experience in a long time! My thoughts on why: I am American born Indian and didn’t have any other family or friends with me other than my fiancé. Who is American. I am not the typical Indian size.
Shame on you for making a bride feel VERY insignificant. And I’m talking to the one who I was with.
A word: If I am planning on spending a few thousand dollars on a dress, I expect superb customer service. A smile always. Patience. Don’t brush me off. Don’t talk about my weight or my size. ESPECIALLY if I’m really nice to you and I’m the one doing all of the smiling. Thank you, my little brown friend at Sahil, for crushing my soul that day. You are not a ray of sunshine.
I thought the store was clean and looked professional. The selection of outfits was great. The price is high but bargaining would help with cost. One star for the experience.

Customer Service is the worst at this place! They are extremely rude n unapologetic after they screw up. There is no option on Unilocal for a no-​star rating! It’s just lack of options in Chicago for people to shop for Indian outfits that is still keeping them in business. And in reading some of the other reviews my review seems pretty consistent!

Best costumer service on Devon! I was greeted when I came in, offered to try on tons and tons of options, and shown the same respect when leaving empty handed. There was a suit I really liked but my heart was set on a manikin somewhere else. I will definitely be returning!

Sahil is the WORST. Their customer service and attitudes are just deplorable. They expect the utmost from their customers, yet do not hold themselves to any standard. I have spent thousands of dollars at Sahil over the past few years and have finally had it.
I took blouses there to be altered — I came back 2 weeks later (after they were promised to be ready) and they hadn’t been touched. They did a shoddy job altering them, and when I pointed out how they didn’t fit right, they said it was a problem with my body. When I asked for compensation for my troubles, they brought in the tailor and said any discount would come straight out of his pocket.
I am Indian and know a lot about Indian fashion. Even though Sahil seems like really nice store, there are many other places on Devon that have similar items, much better prices and much better people. Regal and Studio Elite are just a couple options — You’re better off walking into a random store off Devon than shopping at Sahil.

I loved this store’s designs, they were well staffed and, there is a pretty incredible selection of clothes and sizes for men and women. I don’t know about some of the previous visitors but they seemed concerned enough about their level of service. One manager said to me «I hope you’re happy with the clothes and also our prices and our service. «
I replied that I was. I’ll be back for my wedding dress in 2 months!

We came to Sahil for all of our wedding clothing for ceremonies in both India and the US. From day one we were greeted warmly and helped through the process of buying several outfits, including some custom pieces. Amrita was a great help with my parents as well, helping us decide on their first Indian garments. All of our fashions were a big hit in India and many people complimented us wanting to know where we purchased such great outfits! The service has always been great and the styles are absolutely gorgeous. We will be back for more occasions in the future! If you want good quality that will impress your guests, this is the place to go!

Horrible customer service. The whole staff has an attitude problem (on more than one occasion). They ignored me on several occasions because the whole staff, yes whole, was helping someone who was spending (their assumption) more money than me and my friend. Makes you want to take your money elsewhere.
I also agree with the other posters that the clothing is overpriced and what’s worse it’s not even the best quality and even ratchet.
You’re better off shopping online and will get cheaper prices and less attitude.
Not a pleasant experience.

My friend took me here to buy a lehenga choli for our dance performance. At first glance, everything that we liked was priced way above our budget. Most of the items that we wanted to try, started at $ 300. Gulp!!!
Luckily, my friend is a great negotiator and got the price down to something a bit more reasonable. Alterations were also discounted for us. I’m not sure what they normally go for.
Service was not really friendly at first, but I’m not sure if that is a cultural thing — me being a «foreigner» in their eyes. Eventually, the girl who was helping us warmed up.
Overall, I love my lehenga choli and hope that there is another occasion for me to wear it again.

Don’t waste your time here. Prices are outrageous and the customer service stinks, there are way better places to spend your money on Devon.

My family and I have been customers of Sahil for over 20 years. They are the absolute best in the city. They do custom made designs and can tailor everything to your needs. They are very exclusive and carry the best and most fashionable items you can wish for! They also have the traditional moderate range looks too. We get the best service and quality! Nothing is better than Sahil for our indian wear needs!

Awful shopping experience I’ve ever had. I only gave this boutique 1 star only because of the variety of clothing if I could give zero stars I would. My cousin and I went in search of sarees for a wedding I have coming up. From the second we walked in we got the death stare. The sales associate followed us so close I stopped in front of her and she bumped into me. When we asked her to pull out items to show us she has this annoyed, disgusted look on her face. We knew this place was expensive but we were willing to pay whatever if we loved the outfit so much. We left the store with nothing because we felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome, we didn’t know if they were prejudice against anybody not Indian/​Pakistani/​Palestinian. My cousin and I are Lebanese and have never felt this way in other stores on devon. but thank you to Uma Sarees for helping us out! Never judge customers walking in by their attire or race, sorry Sahil you lost good commission!

If there were an option to give it less than 1 star, I would have ! This place sucks big time. There was no variety and same stale designs that I saw 2 yrs ago while I shopped for my friend’s wedding. I don’t mind pricey but dresses weren’t worth it at all. At top of it, their concept of customer service completely baffled me. I came from Phoenix to Chicago impressed by their website and hoping to be blown away after seeing all those prepped models. I was so disappointed by their attitude. The girl at the counter politely rejected my request to try the lehenga because their lehengas are so special and they allow it only for serious customers. I cannot put my amazement in words. How do they expect to convert a potential client into a real client until the person actually wears the dress !! Their website can only do so much to draw a client but then its upto the quality of property and customer service.
I left the store right after that not just because of obnoxious attitude but lack of any good, striking quality and I ended up at Elite Studio across the street. In the end I am so thankful to them because it led me to wonderdul Elite studios. I recommend all of you to compare the materials at these shops and don’t get fooled with their glossy marketting veneer. Pricey doesn’t mean better !!

Overall, great experience. My wife and I could’nt be happier. Bhavesh and Mr. Patel are amazing. Honest, geniune people that are rare in the clothing market on Devon. With 2 weeks to our wedding and after a horrible experience at another store (on Devon) these gentlemen started from scratch and created a beautiful set for my wife and I. My wife is not of Asian decent, and this experience with Saahil was great for her. To her the items were not «over-​priced» as in such they were failry priced for the quality of the clothing. You will get what you pay for. Great quality and great service. No pressure to buy anything that we did’nt want. We actually purchased numerous outfights, and all were at great price.
Everyone complains about the prices at Sahil, however I have no issues with paying for quality. If you are looking for a great shopping experience — Sahil is the place to go.

This is the nicest looking Indian clothing storefront, with the widest selection of Indian men’s suits in the Midwest. But the thing is, the way they keep the stock bagged, hidden, and only shown one by one per customer by the staff, you’re really not going to be able to see all they have to offer. It’s inexplicable. They refuse to Americanize and have all their clothes out, marked with real prices, for shoppers to browse through, but the labor intensive and unfriendly way they show you clothes, piece by piece, one by one, is not really the traditional Indian way to sell clothes either. Yes, back in South Asia, we haggle and chit chat, and shopping isn’t rush rush in out like Walmart. But the process is friendly, neighborly, community building, and here, they’re just being pushy and I feel like they’re not making any kind of real connection to me. I’ve bought a couple of suits here, but never been completely happy with the sizing, or pricing, I ended up buying when I got exhausted of making them pull out suits one by one for me to see and try on, and discussing price («I will make a good price for you…» but that’s not what I felt I ended up paying, even though I haggled down 50% from the original tag). Since 9÷11÷01, I wear more Western clothing than Indian (shame, isn’t it? But there’s no sense getting beaten up just for wearing traditional clothing), but when I do buy Indian, it’s much easier, less expensive, less exhausting, and almost faster to buy online (on the ‘net, try e-​bay India).

They have really pretty stuff here BUT VERY expensive. In general, their selection is good. I looked at salwar kameez and kids clothing. Polite staff, somewhat helpful.

Sahil carries a wide variety of dresses for all your needs. This is the nicest looking Indian store on Devon. Customer service sucks. They push you so hard to buy. The sales guy who was helping me, named Salim, was not that bad. However, the sales lady who was helping my fiancée was rude. Why does customer service in these types of Desi stores suck so bad? We entered this store in search of a party wear. We could not find any reasonably priced lehgna cholis here. We did end up buying a sherwani. They have a beautiful collection of Indo Western sherwanis. Do not pay for the price they ask you for. Salim asked $ 1300 for the one we bought but we bargained until the price dropped to $ 600. Big time cheaters!
They do accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Cash and Checks. They also do out of state shipments to avoid the high Chicago sales tax. The girl at the register has a big attitude problem as well.

After walking around Devon Street, I found that it was a breath of fresh air to walk into Sahil. Immediately you can tell the difference. The store is impeccably kept and very clean and organized. They have two levels and the upstairs has the more fancy of clothes. I’m not Indian, but the sari’s here had a «wow» factor. The price also had a «wow» factor. I though the associates were really helpful and friendly and they even gave me and my friend bottled water because we were dying under the bright lights. They even helped us flag down a cab back to downtown.
