History

Established in 2006.

Sarah Maxwell started selling real estate full-​time in 2006. In May of 2009 she switched companies and joined @properties. She came from a background in real estate property management, which transitioned to a career in real estate sales. After college, Sarah initially started her career as a producer in advertising, working on TV and radio spots for several large agencies in Chicago while managing property in Lincoln Park. After purchasing her first property, her longtime passion for real estate led her to leave advertising and start a full time career in the real estate world. Sarah has been selling real estate since 2006. She currently lives in Logan Square.

The Sarah Maxwell Group was founded in 2012. In 2014 it has grown to include 3 more agents: Dan Marks, JC Fleming and David Rudolph. Each of the agents in SMG has insight into the real estate market in Chicago and an innate knowledge of so many of the neighborhoods this great city has to offer.

Sarah was born and raised in the city of Chicago, and her family continues to live here. She grew up in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and her family moved to the Graceland West area when she was a child. Sarah is intimately familiar with all of Chicago’s north, west and near south side neighborhoods, and knows everything from the school systems to public transportation and certainly all the great places to eat (and there are a lot of them!). Sarah is a graduate of Bell School in North Center and St. Ignatius College Prep. After high school, Sarah attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI where she got her BA in English.

Sarah currently lives in Logan Square in a recently renovated 2-​flat. Her passion for renovations and rehabs continues to grow as she purchases properties to rehab them in Logan Square. From plumbing to roofing to digging out a basement, Sarah can help buyers and sellers ask the right questions to get the answers they need when making a real estate decision.

I first met Sarah in 2008 when I was looking to buy a condo… We connected straight away. She’s a great listener and knew exactly what I wanted from our first talk. She found a great place which at the time was exactly what I wanted.
Since then Sarah helped me rent it out and find a rental for me and my partner.
Sarah is very professional and dedicated. I have been recommending her to all friends who have real estate needs and their feedbacks have been as good as mine.

I met Sarah through my partner when we were looking to rent a condo together but also needed to rent out the condos we owned. Sarah was amazing! She listened to what we liked/​disliked, was fun to work with and ended up finding us a GREAT rental. Sarah was recommended to me by a fellow Michigan Alum. As a first time homebuyer, I had no idea what I was I was doing or where to start. Sarah made everything so easy. She came to my office to meet me for lunch to explain the entire process step by step. Once we began looking for a condo, I found a townhouse neighborhood that I fell in love with. Unfortunately, there were no available units at that exact moment. So what did Sarah do? She created a flyer and sent it to all the townhouses in that community letting them know that when they are ready to sell, there was an interested buyer. This is what Sarah did throughout the whole process. Go above and beyond to help get me what I wanted. Low and behold, someone contacted her and I was able to get exactly what I wanted for my first home. Once we got into our new home, Sarah helped us figure out the cost of everything we wanted to have changed or upgraded along with some great recommendations. As a first time homebuyer, I would highly recommend Sarah!

She provided expert guidance throughout the process and helped make a stressful time – dare I say – fun. She put us at ease with her ability to focus our priorities and inspired confidence with her knowledge and goal-​minded work ethic. She is a smart negotiator and is well respected by colleagues which helped our process tremendously. A bonus is that she is so nice to work with. Even my kids looked forward to spending time with her. We were also able to take advantage of her rehab expertise as she was able to help us see the potential in properties and estimate expenses with possible remodeling aspirations. The result was that we put an offer into (and purchased) an older home with confidence in the expenses related to the property and with a vision for it’s potential. I met Sarah several years ago while she was working in another industry and when she pursued her career in real estate she has always kept her prior business contacts informed and up to date with market trends and what she has sold in all different neighborhoods.
I haven’t decided when I will sell yet but Sarah has taken the time to help me out with explaining the real estate market in a way I understand and what I can expect in the future. She even saved me money on my taxes!

I was referred to Sarah by a friend when I decided it was time to stop renting and purchase a condo. I had been living in Chicago for a year at the time I met Sarah, so I had a decent level of familiarity with the city (although Sarah taught me a lot of new stuff during the process). However, I was a first time buyer, so I needed a lot of help learning the process and wanted to take my time finding the right place.
I travel for work during the weekdays, so I was only available to house hunt with Sarah on the weekends. She was very patient with my schedule (and when I was late for an appointment) and was willing to spend a lot of time with me during the weekends to help make up for the fact that I was only available two days a week. She helped me ask the right questions, explained concepts that I was unfamiliar with, and helped guide me in the right direction when she felt I was making a decision I might regret.
I am very happy with the place I purchased and I am very grateful to Sarah for helping me find my home. I will definitely work with Sarah when it’s time to move again and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking to make a move!

We found Sarah the old fashioned way… search engine… and WOW did we luck out! Two years ago my husband and I were looking to buy an investment property in Chicago and Sarah was tireless in searching for a great deal for us. Thanks to her diligence we scored an awesome 3 bedroom short sale condo in Rogers Park for only 75K! Along the way to our purchase we spent weekends with Sarah, trekking through a snowy Chicago winter looking at unit after unit… and NEVER ONCE did she makes us feel like we were wasting her time. She was consistently pleasant to work with. Now, 2 years later, we are selling our flip and Sarah is our listing agent. I still continue to be impressed by her consummate professionalism. We not only get weekly reports of activity happening with out property, we get daily communication from Sarah regarding our contract status, because yes– a sale is pending– thanks to the excellent marketing of our condo. I really can’t express enough how grateful my husband and I are that Google hooked us up with Sarah, not only is she a master of her craft she is actually passionate about real estate (I don’t really get that– but hey– to each their own!) I recommend her as an agent for buyers or sellers without hesitation.
