i can not not recommend ServiceMaster Restoration By Steve highly enough!
The company, and every member of the crews, has been incredible.
A pipe burst under my kitchen sink and destroyed both the floor below and damaged the hardwood floors on the first floor.
It has been a brutal worst nightmare.
But, within a half an hour of my phone call, Sam’s crews were out ripping everything out, boxing up an entire floor of belongings and drying and cleaning up the mess to prevent mold,
They came back for six more days of work and were always kind and professional.
I found Sam Simon /​ServiceMaster Restoration By Simon through the positive reviews on Unilocal and I am so glad that I did!
They are as good as it gets.

My allergies kept getting worse and worse until finally I had to find another home for my beloved cat. I Googled «Ridding your house of cat dander» and discovered the task would require a huge cleaning job which entailed shampooing carpets and furniture and washing every inch of wall, ceiling, and counter space. I called several cleaning companies, none of which did walls.
Then I talked to Sue Simon, a co-​owner of a Servicemaster franchise. She informed me that her company did both restoration and cleaning and agreed to come out the next day to give me an estimate on our large house. As we walked through the premises, I could tell she understood what needed to be done. She said her crew was available to put in 1 ½ day’s work at the end of the week.
I couldn’t have been more satisfied with the outcome. The crew was competent and thorough, and Sue Simon worked with them much of the time. I felt she genuinely cared about eliminating the allergen that had been making me miserable. I would recommend Servicemaster for any kind of cleaning job without reservation.

When something really crappy, unexpected, and totally different happens, you need your hand held by expert technicians who can actually resolve your problem. As a renter, I never ever thought I’d need the type of cleaning that ServiceMaster performs. When I did, they really did come to my rescue.
My problem was something completely new to me, and I had no idea where to get help. Long story short — I took in foster kittens that, unbeknownst to me, were infected with ringworm. This, despite the shelter’s supposed guarantee that these animals were 100% healthy and ready to be released into foster care (mine). When the shelter called to say that one of the kittens I’d cared for was sick, I didn’t know what to think. When the shelter sent me a list of cleaning instructions that looked like instructions for cleaning up after Ebola, I cried. When I thought more about the situation, I was angry. The shelter agreed to pay for the disinfection and cleaning of my apartment, if I would could find an organization to do the job. A Facebook friend suggested ServiceMaster and you, my fellow Unilocalers, led me to this company.
Neda was my ServiceMaster contact. From the outset, she was informative, helpful, reassuring, and professional. She told me the details of the cleaning, and she made sure she knew what kind of furniture I had; what types of surfaces there were (as in, carpeting, tile and wood); the areas where the cat had been; and what I should expect from the crew and the cleaning. She told me the job would take 5 – 6 hours, and that, of course, I would need to be away. She even warmed me not to be upset by the outfits they wore; I never did see them, but she said they look like hazmat suits.
Neda and her crew showed up on a Thursday, within the 2-​hour window I expected. It was helpful, and appreciated, that she called to say, we’re on our way and will be there in 20 minutes. (They were, too). When she arrived, she toured the apartment with me showing her where the cleaning had to be done, and areas where it didn’t. The closets, for example, didn’t need to be cleaned, because I had kept the doors closed and never let the cats in there.
Four hours later, Neda called to say they were done. I was surprised — done already? She said that the job normally takes 4 hours, but that they like to give the client a slightly longer time in case they run into a problem. She told me to leave the overhead fans on and the windows open, since the carpets were still slightly damp. I was very anxious to go home and see the result.
Not only did ServiceMaster guarantee that neither I, my visitors, or any living thing is in any danger from the ringworm virus, but they did an amazing cleaning job. The floors look better than ever. The bathroom tiles and appliances look brand new. The stainless steel gleams. They wiped down the stove better than I ever did, and trust me, I work hard to keep that stove clean. They pulled the stove out and cleaned underneath it, and I can tell you, the cat never got there. ServiceMaster went above and beyond. I’m not exaggerating when I say this place is spotless.
Today I showed my sweet, elderly landlord the apartment. He walked in and said, «Oh my goodness, look at those floors!» He was VERY impressed. I’m glad he was pleased, not just because he is the landlord, but because he is a dear man who’s been very good to me.
I wouldn’t wish this ringworm nightmare on anybody. But if, God forbid, it happens to you, call ServiceMaster, They will take good care of you.
If all you need is a thorough clean-​up, call ServiceMaster. I am beyond impressed at the results.

There are many «ServiceMaster» franchises to choose from in Chicago. I’ve tried a couple based on availability for carpet and furniture cleaning (usually on an annual basis). Today was the third time I hired the «By Simons» group. The techs are friendly and honest. For example, they will tell you whether they can get a stain out or not. There is no hidden charge for «extra cleaning». They work quickly and realize that it’s your time too.

Had water damage from a big storm and called a few different companies to assess the damage as soon as possible. Sam at ServiceMaster answered right away and said he would be over within the half hour. He arrived early, assessed the extent of the damage in multiple rooms, and advised his team to bring a specific number of fans and dehumidifiers for each area that was wet. The team installed the equipment about an hour later, and checked back twice over the course of four days to ensure the dampness was being eliminated. Ultimately, ServiceMaster’s prompt attention to the problem saved us the expense and hassle of opening up walls and ceilings.
I highly recommend this company and its team. The service is top-​notch, and the pricing is very reasonable.

Had a smaller water spill in a carpeted bedroom, thought we dried it all up, then a few days later the room started to get that damp musty smell. We didn’t want to give it more time to dry out since we had guests coming in town and we didn’t have the time to try to rent equipment to dry and clean the carpet ourselves.
I called ServiceMaster around 9 am on a Tuesday and someone was at my house by 3. They quickly diagnosed the situation, suggested what work needed to be done (just a basic carpet cleaning, it seemed), and performed the work on the spot. They were courteous and quick, and the smell and moisture seem to be gone! I got exactly what I needed.

I can’t recommend this ServiceMaster franchise highly enough! I awoke one morning to find water pouring in through my kitchen ceiling and immediately called my insurance company, who gave me the contact info for another group to call (it was around 6am on Sunday by the way). Although I was able to get ahold of this other company, they refused to come out until the leaking had stopped, which really did me no good. In a panic, I turned to google and called and left a message for this ServiceMaster franchise based on the two positive Unilocal reviews I saw. Sam, the owner, called me back within about a minute and told me not to worry and that he’d be at my place with his team within two hours… And he was. Wow!
This sort of destructive event in your home can be pretty traumatic and make you feel a bit helpless… Sam has an awesome bedside manner and I could tell from the start that he was a very genuine, good person to work with. He really helped talk me down from freaking out and assured me not to worry and that everything was going to be ok. I believed him and was let down. It turns out he took over this franchise from his parents following a career traveling the world filming rock bands (it was time to settle down I guess). Pretty interesting background and not what I expected! You can tell he grew up around the business though, as he definitely knows his stuff and has all the proper certifications for this type of work.
So I gave Sam my key and let him do his thing. Not only did he figure out what was causing the leak (a plumbing issue) and get it stopped ASAP, he finished the repairs much sooner than I expected and did a fantastic job at that! His follow-​up and communications were great during the process… Always updating me on the repair progress and texting me pics. He was also extremely fair with me when it came to pricing and was quick to suggest was he thought I might be able to save some money on the repairs, even if it meant not using him for some of them. He also went to bat for me directly with my insurance company when they were being difficult about payment and got the job down on that front as well.
When it comes to this type of emergency work, you really need someone who is responsive, trustworthy, competent, and emotionally aware. Sam is all these things and more! My only regret is that I didn’t write this review sooner… I had meant to write it several months ago after the event had occurred, but got caught up in other things and spaced on it. Oh well… I hope if you’re reading this now it helps you out in knowing this is a great company to call!

I was devastated after my kitchen fire. Everything in my place was ruined. I thought I was going to have to buy all new stuff. Then my insurance agent recommended ServiceMaster Restoration By Simons. That was the absolute best thing he could have done. Same showed up with his team within two hours of my call. They did such a great job cleaning my home, there was no sign of there ever being a fire. Thanks so much Sam! He and his team are just awesome!

This is the place to go! Sam was great. Sometimes I worry whether or not I’m getting the best deal, but in this case I was completely satisfied. The people that came to clean up my flooded basement were hard working and did a thorough job. Not a trace of the mess was left. If you are in desperate need as I was, I would recommend Simons.
