Simple Spaces has a simple story. I have always put a lot of effort and energy into creating clean, fresh and organized spaces to live, work, and entertain. After twelve years of living in «vintage» Chicago apartments I became pretty good at cleaning dirt, grease and germs from any hard surface. And as a person challenged with allergies, I introduced natural cleaning methods and supplies after purchasing my first Chicago home two years ago.

I started interviewing friends and family about their cleaning services and found few were offered toxin-​free solutions. Over dinner one night, I shared a hand-​written outline with a couple friends and an idea was born.

So, after fourteen years in the corporate world I decided to bring simple ideas and a meticulous nature to the Chicago market. I am very excited to have launched Simple Spaces, LLC and look forward to talking to each potential client individually to develop a customized approach to keeping your spaces simply clean.

I am a graduate of Indiana University and have spent my professional career in project management, business development, marketing, and leadership roles. A native Hoosier, I grew up with the integrity and Midwestern values that I will bring to every client solution that I personalize. I have been a resident of Chicago for fourteen years and could not imagine a more exciting city in which to launch a new business with fresh ideas. I believe in a healthy, toxin-​free and relaxed environment in which my client’s and their families (and pets) live and play.

I’ve used Simple Spaces for about 2 years now, and have to admit that I can’t imagine using anyone else.
We’ve used them in our Apartment, and now in our new home, and the service is fantastic. Everything ends up spotless, and I really appreciate the green cleaning supplies that they use.
Janelle has always been responsive to me, and very willing to work with my availability. I work from home, so scheduling can be a challenge, but her team always gives me a head’s up when they are coming by so I can decide if I want to head out to lunch or something to not be in their way.
Janelle’s rates also seem to be more affordable than some other options we looked at. They definitely fit into our budget and we couldn’t be more pleased.
I highly recommend Simple Spaces.

I made the unfortunate decision to choose Simple Spaces to clean our new construction house before we moved in. After charging an outrageous $ 603, me, my husband, and my mom had to clean the house after SS cleaning crew spent 17 hours «cleaning». The job was simply to remove all the dust on the house surfaces as the house had not yet been occupied — after charging me for 7 hours «cleaning» my house was still covered in dust. The charge of $ 35 an hour is also the highest price around. Do yourself a big favor and don’t hire Simple Spaces if you need a thorough cleaning. You’ll end up as I did — out a lot of money and tired from hours of cleaning!

We were selling my mother’s home in the Northwest suburbs and needed a deep cleaning before listing it. I called Janelle from Simple Spaces on a Friday to get a quote for a move-​out cleaning. As of the following Monday at 2pm I hadn’t heard back, so I decided to call again should my message have been lost. When I called back I reached Janelle and she said, «Oh, is this so-​and-​so, in XXX? Oh, yeah, unfortunately I don’t go to XXX.» Ok, so I guess she didn’t want to bother calling someone back who is not in her service area. Ok, fine, but here are my issues:
A. Simple Spaces does not list a service area on their website or on Angie’s List where they’re also listed. I could have saved a little time had that info been posted.
B. After telling me she doesn’t service the suburbs, she proceeded to ask when I needed a crew and I told her anytime after Friday and she said, «I wouldn’t be able to get a crew there on Friday». She just told me that she doesn’t service my area, but then asks when I need someone? As though she might consider coming to my area? Also, I told her anytime after Friday and she said she couldn’t get a crew to me on Friday, even though I said anytime AFTER Friday. Next…
Why is it so hard to find a good highly rated house cleaning service in the Northwest suburbs?! I called three high rated cleaning companies for a quote (one was Simple Spaces) and only one called me back. I guess business is booming, so much so that no one needs additional business. If I’m outside of your service area, then just tell me so I don’t waste my time calling you back. Better yet, post your service area on your website and anywhere else you advertise.

I decided to give Janelle a try after a very disappointing experience with a slightly lower priced local company. I should have called her first! When I contacted her about pricing and to set up an initial cleaning, she got back to me almost immediately. She sent a reminder prior to my initial cleaning, was right on time, and now that I’ve had it I don’t think I could be happier.
My kitchen & bathroom are sparkling, my floors look great, and I think my shelves would easily pass a white-​glove inspection. I have a small apartment and cats, and I don’t think I’ve ever succeeded in vacuuming up all of the cat hair at once. There are always «tumbleweeds» rolling around, but not after Janelle was finished — she got it all. She and Tiffany did a better job in two hours than I could have done in 10. They are fantastic and I’m so glad I’ve set up a regular cleaning!

Simple Spaces recently completed a job for me. A much needed cleaning was performed in a rather long vacant unit. Janelle worked me into her schedule quickly. The crew was prompt and thorough. The apartment looks great and smells better. I will definitely use the service again.

I have used Janelle and her team for about a year to clean our Lincoln Square home. The team comes in twice a month and helps to keep our household sparkling. Janelle has always been a great professional — appointment reminders, acknowledgement of cleaning, on time, and what is really important to me — completely trustworthy. Her team is nimble in responding to requests and makes sure to remember them time and time again. I really appreciate the fact that she uses natural products so the house does not smell like some nasty lemon smell — but rather fresh and natural. Her team is also great with our two dogs, and the entire team is really nice (when you see them — not often in my case). Finally, it feels good to also support a local small business. I would not hesitate to recommend Simple Spaces! GO for it!

This review is long, long over do! Janelle rocks! She is wonderful to work with and very, extremely organized. I have set monthly cleaning appointments with Simple Spaces, LLC. Janelle sends me a reminder the day before she and her team are coming over to clean my place and then follows up with me the evening after my cleaning appointment with a service acknowledgment email. My invoices are delivered electronically and in a punctual fashion too! Simple Spaces, LLC offers affordable prices AND uses products that aren’t harmful to the environment. My house smells so clean and fresh after the team is finished and sparkles beyond belief.
I completely trust my home and spoiled rotten dog — since he’s often there alone when Janelle and her team come into clean — which says a lot because both of those things are extremely important to me. I have to note that she’s a dog person too! So, when she’s greeted at the door by the furry alligator with doggy hi5s and kisses she’s really patient with him. I am a crazy dog lady so it’s important that whoever is in my home makes my dog feel safe and comfortable. Janelle and her team do just that.
Come rain, snow — more like blizzard, seriously — or shine Janelle and her team will be there for you!

I have been using Simple Spaces for a little over a year now and they are without a doubt, the best cleaning service I have used to date! Our house is always spotless and I am amazed at how clean they are able to get our hardwood floors. We have a baby and dog so I am particularly fond of the fact that Simple Spaces uses all natural cleaning products that are safe for them and us.
In addition to the excellent results, the owner Janelle is extremely trustworthy and responsive. She asks if there are specific instructions prior to the cleaning and keeps them on file for future reference. She also sends out email reminders of our scheduled cleaning date which I find helpful. I cannot say enough good things about Simple Spaces… they are a top notch cleaning service!

I’ve been using Simple Spaces for several months now, and my place looks great! I recently gave birth to twins in December, and also have a dog, so I love that they don’t use any harmful chemicals, especially since my babies are always rolling around on the floor! I never have time to keep up with all of the dog hair on our floors, and they do a great job on our floors! The owner Janelle also gave me my own spray bottle of her cleaning solution to use in the baby room, so I don’t have to use Lysol anymore. This is so great for our set up since the baby room is in the basement and gets really dusty. Highly recommend them, not too pricey for the excellent service they provide.
