Avoid this place at all costs. It is dumpy and dirty with rude staff. I paid more for this dump than at the brand new Hilton in the Loop. What a joke of a disgusting place.

Only hotel in the area and I think they capitalize on that considering it’s about $ 150 for an old room with non-​working appliances. Unhelpful staff who didn’t seem to care that nothing worked, and weren’t really willing to make any concessions.
Note that this is not close to downtown. It’s in a great location ALMOST IN EVANSTON, but try the Hotel Tonight app and see if you can find something cheaper.

Rather expensive for a Super 8. Needs serious updating. Parking was extremely tight. Very few breakfast options.
Staff was polite and location convenient.

Quite possibly one of the best deals in town, and in close proximity to downtown Chicago. I found this Super 8 location on a whim while using its app on my smartphone. While the rate was higher than what I usually pay ($ 89), you have to consider that this isn’t exactly your typical Super 8.
First, the location. In my opinion, it just doesn’t get any better than this. You are within a few blocks of Lake Michigan, as well as within 10 minutes of downtown Chicago. There were other smaller hotels and motels in the area, yet I knew that the rate would be at least $ 50 – 60 higher. I felt safe within this area, particularly that there were private residences directly across the street and adjacent to the hotel as opposed to being in a dank, isolated section of the city.
Second, I would venture to say that this location was a former two-​star hotel at some point. I found the room to be a little bit more spacious than expected, and the lobby areas (though a bit narrow) conveyed an impression that there was some recent hotel updates. The area that breakfast was served seemed okay. Breakfast itself was sufficient.
Now, the parking. In my opinion, it really depends on when you get here. Quite possibly the tightest parking situation that I’ve ever seen. While there is a parking garage (very dark, FYI), I parked outside yet still felt cramped like I was inside of a sardine can. Extremely tight! Since this Super 8 is so close to residential areas, you have to watch where you park at in order to not be towed or ticketed.
Other than that, I would stay here again, especially if the rates stay consistently at a reasonable price.

Back in the 70s early 80s different kinda thangs were going on in this hotel area. adequate for my needs. great for parents visiting their kids at Loyola University etc or some other private affairs. Light it up Rudy

Yikes! This place is seriously run-​down and gives the vibe of a rent-​by-​the-​hour joint. The walls are paper thin, the beds are pretty uncomfortable, the lighting is far too dim, the shower pressure is weak, the carpets are filthy. Need I go on?
The reason why I chose this motel in the first place is because it’s close to Loyola and the lake. Plus, I thought the L train was right around the corner. In reality, it’s a bit of a walk to the train. Furthermore, Sheridan is a pretty dead street with very little to do, and I was really far from downtown. The rates were not horrible (about $ 150 per night) but I was hoping for a more comfortable stay.
Is this the worst motel to stay at? Definitely not. The managers were quite helpful, there was a bus stop right in front and they had breakfast every morning. They also have free internet. Would I stay here again? No.

Worst two nights sleep ever! Comfortable beds, but the next door guests made it impossible to sleep. They register the riff raff of society. I called down twice to front desk both nights asking, begging for security, (whch they do NOT have). I will not stay there again.

I am the A GM of Hilton Hotel and while driving home my vehical had broken down and as fustrated as i was with the situation my car phone and cell phone had no signal, THE NIGHT AUDITOR COLEN WAS QUICK TO HELP, and made sure everything was great until my driver came to pick me up. thanks again colen

We were driving in Chicago and decided to rest for the night. We called the hotel five minutes before we arrived. Jay gave us a price over the phone and by the time we got there, he stated the room would have an increase of $ 30.00 dollars. We had no choice but to take the room since we got there in the middle of the night. Jay was an arrogant, rude and unhelpful clerk. The room had a moldy smell, the bed was old and dirty. The sheets, pillows, and towels were so worn out and dirty that we decided to go to Walmart and purchase an air mattress, sheets, pillows and towels. The bathtub was dirty and stained. The bathroom was very tiny, we couldn’t even move around. The room was so dark that we even had to buy a flashlight to walk through it. On top of everything else, when we tried to go out in the morning, we found out that the parking lot was so small that we had wait for other guest to move the car in front of us so we could manage our way out safely. If you are ever go to Chicago, do yourself a favor and do not stay at this dump.

Location is decent (about two blocks away from the nearest red line/​hour from downtown). Breakfast was decent. Neighborhood did not seem too sketchy, so that is a plus. The first part of our stay was great. My fiancé and I rented a non-​smoking room, which was kept nice and clean. However, when we decided to stay an extra night, we were switched to a smoking room. One of the hotel clerks told us $ 100, but we ended up paying $ 30 more than what we were originally quoted (not counting tax). It seemed really sketchy and dishonest business. The smoking room was disgusting (not the hotels fault, the smokers fault) but it made the rest of our stay horrible.

Surprisingly nice little place — so glad we stayed here.
CLEANLINESS: Spotless. No bugs, bathrooms looked great (we were in 2 different rooms.) The upholstery etc. isn’t in perfect shape, but it’s a Super8. Looks well-​maintained.
SERVICE: Stellar. Super helpful, really nice staff here.
TRANSPORTATION: It was an easy enough drive into town, and there’s a bus stop nearby and the Red Line down the street.
I’m giving it 5 stars because the overall experience was good enough that I think it’s deserved but in case you want to know –
NEGATIVES: The wifi has no password and it was suuuper slow. And one night they put us in a handicap-​accessible room which was nice and big but really loud because it was right by the stairway — I suppose if you’re hard of hearing, it’s ok. The room down the hall that we had the first night was nice and quiet. Oh, and the coffee was pretty meh, but whatever.
OVERALL: Really, for the price — can’t beat it. Why are you sitting in the hotel drinking crappy coffee and being on the internet anyway, when you’ve got Chicago outside? Great service, spotless rooms and bathrooms, decent location considering price. Would stay here again.

Visited my homesick daughter at Loyola which in walking distance from the motel. probably 8 – 10 blocks. Restaurants and shops along the way. While the hotel is older and basic, there is secure parking, the rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the rates reasonable. WiFi worked well. Like most of Chicago area, one needs to exercise some caution later in the evening.

I stayed at this hotel because my father was up the street in hospice and this was closer for me than driving back and forth from Worth, Il. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly to me the whole time. I began to feel that I had a home away from home. From the suggestions for local places, to faxing stuff for work or whatever, i never felt (although the hotel was thoroughly booked that last weekend) that I was an inconvenience. They took the time to accommodate me. The young lady in the morning was especially helpful. The room was in functioning order, everything was maintained. And the price was great for Chicago.

To be honest with hotels I am not picky, the place has to be very clean and have staff that aren’t openly hostile and I am happy. This place met all my expectations, the room was standard and clean, free wi-​fi works fine, the staff was actually pretty nice. The location is good, an easy walk to the red line and the lake, and the price was decent as well, I would stay here again.

So working on one side of town and living on the other has finally turned out to bite me in the azz.
I was caught up in the blizzard of 2011. I didn’t get off work until 1030 at night. It was horrible trying to drive home, so I opted for the nearest (decent) motel.
Even though its the only motel in the Rogers Park area, its really nice. The rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast area is extremely small though and didn’t have alot of options. That’s OK though, there are convenience stores and restaurants nearby. Also a pizza place delivers to the motel for free.
My only gripe is with the parking lot. It’s extremely small and on a first come only basis. So if you come in at night, like I did you may have to park blocks away (I had to park 5 blocks away) because there’s nothing but apartment buildings nearby.
I enjoyed my little getaway at this place but I hope the next time I stay here hopefully it won’t be because of Mother Nature.

For being the only hotel in Rogers Park, it is good enough, and clean enough to be suggested to a visiting friend.
