My laptop hard drive crashed. I called Techlife the Monday before Christmas at 8:00 a.m. Jamie answered and said they would be open at 10:00 if I wanted to bring in my computer. I was there at 10:00 and by 2:00 that same day Jamie had called, given me my options, and was given authorization to do the work. At 10:00 a.m. the following day Jamie called and said my computer was ready to be picked up. He had installed a new hard drive, gone to the Lenovo website to get the specific Thinkpad software for my machine, and reinstalled Windows 7 Pro. Total cost: $ 30 for the diagnosis and $ 155 for the new hard drive and software reinstall, tax included. Great price, great service, and a genuinely nice guy. If I could give them six stars, I would.

I was worried that I would never recover my data from my broken external hard drive. Jaime recovered all the data at the most reasonable price. They were friendly, accommodating, on time and followed through very well. I was initially skeptical about their extremely high ratings on Unilocal.Now, I join the others in highly recommending them.

Absolutely great service! I broke an external hard drive and the data was recovered very quickly at probably the most reasonable price in Chicago. Everyone there was incredibly friendly as well! Jaime has helped me out in a handful of crisis situations when I’ve thought my PC might be ready for the graveyard. Trustworthy, communicates well, and prices his services very fairly. Also, if you call and he is unavailable, you can definitely count on a timely callback! Definitely highly recommended.

Last year while I was finishing my master’s degree, my relatively new PC laptop was dying slowly but surely. (Clearly it couldn’t handle all the awesome I was churning out on it.) As a graduation present to myself I bought a Mac and sure enough, a mere week after I bought a new laptop my PC laptop died. Less than two years old and it was toast. (And this is exactly why once you go mac, you never go back.) One of the IT guys at my last job offered to fix it for me, but then I quit that job and felt awkward taking him up on his offer. So, no more PC for me.
I was lucky that I had a brand new laptop so my PC dying wasn’t the end of the world, but it had everything I did for my master’s degree on there, except my capstone/​thesis. No, I am not a total idiot and I DO use Dropbox, but all of my research filled it up so if it wasn’t capstone related it got kicked out of my dropbox folder.
Fast forward a year later, and it sat collecting dust. I kept meaning to try to fix it myself, but that never happened. It was also eating away at me that I lost *everything* I did in grad school, and considering I am actually using my degree it sucked not being able to go back and reference things I did.
I kept weighing the cost of having it repaired vs. just letting it go, but one day I finally decided to take it in. I did a quick Unilocal search for computer repair, and Techlife popped up first. I read the reviews about him being so amazing and the great prices, and I packed up my laptop and drove over there. I was actually expecting parking to be a nightmare given its proximity to Wrigley, but both times I came here it was super easy and I got rockstar parking right in front.
I dropped it off and as promised, Jaime called me a few hours later with the diagnosis — my hard drive was bad. He could install a new one and attempt data recovery on my old one. This all went down on a Friday afternoon, and by Monday morning everything was done and…

By some miracle, he was able to recover EVERYTHING. It’s all there, every last paper and important/​sentimental photos that I forgot I had that I am SUPER happy he recovered.
The best part is the price — it was so good! I got his amazing service, a new hard drive, Windows installed, data recovery, etc. for a price so low I was convinced he forgot to invoice me for something. Even the data recovery was cheap, though he did admit if he would have had to send it off it would have been hundreds of dollars.
Jaime, you rock. I’m hoping all of my computers stay in working order so I don’t need your services again, but if I do, I will be knocking on your door.

Jaime did a great job. I broke the glass on my MacBook Pro about a year ago and was too lazy and cheap to get it fixed. The cheapest quote I could find was around $ 200. Jaime replaced the glass on my screen for about $ 60! He worked with my schedule and made me feel really comfortable about leaving my laptop with him. I’d def come back again.

Wonderful service! Jaime at Techlife was very professional and helpful throughout the recovery of data after a hard drive crash. I brought the drive to Jaime, who uses the Data Rescue Center in California for failed drives, and he shipped it to them for the recovery process. The drive had a number of problems — physical damage, encryption from the drive manufacturer, file corruption — and the data was recovered! The Data Rescue Center succeeded where others had failed. They were persistent in solving each new problem that the drive presented. And despite the problems and extra time put in to the recovery, the price for the recovery did not change. They charged only what was initially quoted. Jaime was very good in communicating and explaining the process throughout the recovery effort.
I give both Techlife and the Data Rescue Center the highest of recommendations.

My computer was having issues booting-​up and Jaime was able to diagnose the problem and come up with a solution in less than 24 hours. He is very patient and friendly, with a calm demeanor.
Bottom line, he was able to get my computer working again, at ½ the price of other shops. Will definitely use his services again as well as refer family and friends to him!

I found Jaime on Unilocal and I have to say I am sold. I am a professional Futures Trader so my custom trading machines are the life blood of my business. Jaime came thru with flying colors, done and done. I am used to having real time tech support at the different firms I have traded with over the course of my career, Jaime is on par with the best of them. Great service, convenient, and this definitely isn’t like Geek Squad where they charge you a ton of fees then you have to take it back because they didn’t even do anything to it.

We found Jaime through a friend and he saved us when our old server went down. We’re tax and immigration business that handles 3000 – 4000 clients and he had us up and running in less than 24 hours.
On a second occasion he saved us again with some quality phone support! Highly recommended!

I agree with all the positive reviews — truly a 5-​star company. Great service, pricing, and follow up. I agree with Jim that tech support is like car repair where you are at their mercy. I’m glad I found Jaime and Techlife, I know I can get the help I need without having to worry about being taken advantage of!

This guy was a huge help and very easy going and nice to work with. He solved my issue on the first try and was very reasonably priced. So nice to find a computer fixer person who is competent and who charged a fair price. I find computer fix people to be like car repair people. I always feel like they have me over a barrel. They have a captive audience and I certainly can’t fix it myself. This guy was the exact opposite. How refreshing.
