I think the Nobel Prize committee should include auto repair in their list of fields — then every mechanic in the world would pick up the morning paper and say, «Lou and Rob win again…#@!%*!» Brought my car in for a tune-​up and fuel filter (PCV too) and the total came in SEVENTY bucks under estimate! Several months earlier they found that I had a leaky intake manifold — not worth fixing for the age of my car. Lou suggested I try radiator sealant («If it doesn’t work, try a second bottle»). Picked up some Liquid Copper and VOILA!!, still not leaking a drop to this day. The search is over, people. Regular guys, epic mechanics.

If you need a quick, no-​frills fix for your car, Tepco’s the place for you. I took mine in to have its squeaky brakes looked at. Lou had a diagnosis and estimate for me within 30 minutes. He did good work and was cheap, and a day later I picked it up and got a bill for two dollars below the estimate. I’ll definitely bring it back to him for future repairs.

Lou and Rob are honest hard working mechanics. If you go anywhere else they always try to push new calipers for your brakes to drive up the price. They were straight forward and even let me look at the problem with my car. I was given a reasonable price and the car was fixed quickly. This has become my go to repair shop.

Great guys! Pulled right in and they got right to it. It was just a 3K oil change. They pointed out some things I might want to address soon, but no high pressure sales pitch. Most importantly, they didn’t make me feel like an idiot female. Love that! I will definitely be back!

I took my car in for a recall at the Toyota dealership on Cicero. Dude came back with a list of stuff he «recommend» I get that was over $ 1,000. Took my car here and Rob told me I needed one thing from that list of crap they told me I «needed» and was $ 99.
They were quick and honest and I really appreciate that. Top notch place!

Lou and Rob continue to go above and beyond the call of duty. I hope this third review is not overkill, but I can’t stress enough how wonderful and knowledgeable they are. I have three work vans that they help me with and have bailed me out on a number of occasions.

I’ve had two services here in the past couple of years and have been amazed both times at how quickly the problem is diagnosed and fixed. Like others have said, very honest, and certainly feel safe having my car worked on here. Definitely recommended!

I’m not a car expert, and I always feel like auto garages and dealerships are out to get the maximum money out of me.
Last year, I went in because my brakes were acting up, and they got fixed for a very reasonable price, incredibly fast, without trying to sell me anything I didn’t need. (Actually warning me against something my dealer told me I needed, and I suspected I didn’t).
This year I heard my brakes make a strange noise, so I brought my car back in. Guess what? The owner was annoyed I would need more brake service – he’d seen me a year ago! :) He did take a look, found nothing wrong, and charged me less than $ 70 for rotating my tires and changing the fuel filter.

This place was great. The men are kind and helpful. They did not try to «up sell» for extra stuff. It was quick too. The only things that they mentioned I would need (new tires) they don’t even do, so I knew they weren’t just trying to make money off me.

Years later and I am still taking my work van to Lou at Tepco for everything. He is the most honest person and does great work. He is an all around great guy and I am lucky to have found his place. I never worry about getting cheated or getting bad work done. I highly recommend Tepco Tune Up and Auto Care.

Great, nice, honest, and fast!
As a chick (who honestly doesn’t know much about cars) its always hard to go to a place like mechanics and trust that they are going to tell you what’s really going on, and not overcharge. I will continue to give them my service as long as I live in the city!
(it doesn’t hurt that they are just 2 blocks from my current apartment, either !!)

I had an issue with my engine coolant leaking. Car was overheating on highway and pulled over to examine. I had no engine coolant and didn’t know where issue was. Luckily my breakdown was near Tepco and the strong Unilocal reviews helped me decide where to go.
Lou was extremely helpful and a great professional. While I was there he examined what the issue could be. Pressure tested my radiator and tubes without any sign of issues and then when started up car discovered issue was my water pump. Gave me a quote within a couple minutes and was able to have my car back in under 24 hours. Price was reasonable for what needed to be repaired.
Service was second to none and extremely better than any other place I’ve found in Chicago, dealers included. I will be taking my car back to Lou for any other issues in the future and highly recommend the same to others.

Lou is a total mensch. Quickly tightened a utility belt that was too loose in my Maxima and causing it to squeal and asked for no money (i tipped him anyway). Will definitely return for any basic repairs.

If you are looking for an auto shop where repairs are done efficiently, and only needed work is done, you must try Tepco. The ASE certified mechanics here are superb at diagnosing auto repair problems, and clearly explain the work that needs to be done. They have done work on my cars’ brakes, air conditioning, front end, tire repair and replacement, exhaust, electrical, injection systems, as well as oil and fluid changes.(I kept my last car 16 years without any major engine or transmission repairs thanks to these pros).I’ve sent my family, friends, and co-​workers to Tepco. They are honest, hard working proffessionals who take pride in their work and perodically update their knowledge of new trends in their field as evidanced by the certificates displayed in the shop’s waiting room. Try them!

A neighbor recommended this garage years ago and no matter where I’ve run into trouble I’ve done what has been needed in various situation to get my vehicle to them even though that means getting it clear across town. The price of the towing (if you can’t drive it in) is worth the peace of mind knowing that it’s in the hands of a master mechanic (Lou) who’ll charge you exactly what you are quoted which has always been a fair price. They won’t try to talk you into all kinds of extraneous repairs either.

Most drivers worry about where to take their car for service, and rightfully so. Tepco is a safe bet. You’ll get your money’s worth, and peace of mind.
I’ve been here myself and so have several of my friends. The guys who work here are honest, hardworking guys, and they don’t have that sketchy factor that so many car repairmen have. They won’t gouge you with high labor costs and they’ll fix only what needs to be fixed.
They can’t do any major car repairs here, but if you need a belt changed or new brakes or a tune-​up, I highly recommend this place.
