The Left Bank

The Left Bank, Julie, and Susan were an absolute godsend for me. My mom was in town for one weekend only and she has limited mobility. So we needed a place where we could buy all the wedding accessories. The Left Bank has a great selection of anything you might need for day of accessories. Jewelry, veil, shoes, bridal party gifts, purses, ring storage, anything and everything they had it all! There was a chair that my mom could sit in, and both Julie and Susan were so gracious to her, and so helpful to me. I don’t really know much about getting dressed up, and they offered opinions when I needed and space when we needed. Because of the excellent service and all-​in-​one nature of the store, you would think the prices would be very high. They were not, all items were extremely reasonable. I cannot give enough thanks for this store. I will be back for bridesmaid gifts!

I went to the Left Bank specifically to look at and try on Angela Nuran shoes. I purchased Angela Nuran’s Astoria shoes with the Antique brooch. I had them custom dyed to match my wedding color. They turned out perfect. Not only did the look beautiful, but they were comfortable as well — more comfortable than I ever thought a pair of heels could feel. After my wedding, I bought a second pair in black! In addition to the shoes, I purchased a decorative hair clip and a bracelet for my wedding, plus other jewelry to wear to the brunch the day after the wedding. The Left Bank has such pretty jewelry and accessories, not just for bridal and weddings. The staff is friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. Sign up for their e-​mail list. This is a go-​to boutique for wedding jewelry and accessories. The staff is very attentive and helpful. A wonderful selection awaits you in a charming store.
I custom ordered my veil, which turned out beautifully. It completed my look. They have samples for you to try on in store. They make their veils and have them ready within a couple weeks. I shopped around and many of the bridal boutiques order them China and it takes a couple months or longer, or you have to pay a rush fee. I was very pleased with the veil, of which I have posted photos.
They have an extensive collection of bridal jewelry and jewelry appropriate for bridesmaids. I purchased a pretty pair of faux diamond and pearl earrings that they were able to convert into clip earrings. I bought fun statement earrings and a cuff bracelet for my maid of honor that she loved. The selection features a wide range of jewelry and prices so you can find something for yourself or attendees within your price range. The owner and staff are also understanding of your budget, which is nice.
Their clutches and purses are pretty and reasonably priced. I bought an impressive silver and pearl clutch for less than $ 100. It is sleek, yet roomy enough for my phone, ID, cards and cash, and make up essentials. I’ll be able to wear it again for a special event.
I tried on a number of their bridal shoes which are pretty and super comfortable. They did not have the exact heel length I was looking for, otherwise I would have purchased my shoes there too.

I got my wedding jewelry here and cannot rave enough about how much I love it! I am a bling girl and this place had the perfect items I was looking for. I love love love my necklace and am so excited to wear it on my wedding day!

I bought my wedding shoes here and I am a bit disappointed with them. The person who helped me was really condescending each time I visited and when I wanted to think it over (spending $ 300 is a lot for shoes) she tried to convince me that there was only one pair left and that I had to make a decision now. Luckily another worker over heard her say that and told her to recheck the stock and lo and behold there was at least one more pair of shoes in the back.
Anyway, I thought about it for a while, went out for lunch and my mother and friend convinced me to go ahead and get the shoes. I purchased the ones with an appliqué that had to be applied and she assured me that it would be done within a week. A week rolls by and I stop by the store to pick up the shoes and the appliqué isn’t on. She said I had to decide the length before they put it on (although she told me that they could just snip off the excess if I wanted to have it shorter). So I decided on the length and was showing her how I wanted the placement to be (I didn’t want the edge of the shoe to show) but I wanted to tape it on so that I could look at it better and she wouldn’t let me tape it on. If I paid 300+ for a shoe, I should be able to put tape on if I want to. Anyway, the second worker came to my rescue again, she was really nice and agreed with everything I said, she was really supportive and tried her best to accommodate me. I explicitly told them I do not want the edge to show and I needed the shoe to be stretched out. I leave and come back a week later only to see that the edge is showing because «they can’t put it so that the edge doesn’t show». Why didn’t they inform me of this? Now it’s glued and I spent 300+ on shoes not made to my exact specifications. Although I know no one will be staring at my feet, I just wished they would be 100% honest and clear with me before roping me into something and then leaving me with expensive shoes that they couldn’t at the very least stretch out because the shoe was too small for the stretcher. Why tell me to get the smaller shoe so that we could stretch it out to fit me then???
To sum up, the shoes are pretty but not exactly how I wanted them, they were way over priced and a bit too small at the moment. The lady who worked with me was condescending and a bit rude. And FYI, all the jewelry you find here can be found on etsy for a much cheaper price.

I had a really great experience with Susan & Julie. They were very helpful and provided a high level of customer service — when my fiancé was carrying my svarovski crystal shoe clips haphazardly and dropped them two days before our wedding (!!!), Susan helped re-​attach new spare crystals during a last minute drop in appointment at no cost (even though the entire issue was not their fault at all). The left bank has a great selection of beautiful jewelry that looks fit for a special occasion — I’d highly recommend it to any brides-​to-​be!

Neighborhood gem! I purchased my wedding shoes (Angela Nuran) here and can’t wait to wear them on my big day. If you’re looking for beautiful and comfortable shoes, you have to visit this store! It’s definitely an investment, but worth it! I plan on getting all my wedding jewelry here as well. So excited!

I cannot even begin to tell you how fabulous The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery was to work with. For starters, the bride informed me that she would be in town and available for a very limited time frame. After contacting Susan, offered to keep the shop open late to make sure the bride could get in to view the inventory at a time that worked for her. On top of that, they have an amazing inventory, at insanely reasonable prices for bridal accessories, a lot of which are handmade right in the shop. The sales woman we worked with was extremely helpful in suggesting options for the bride without being pushy and really listened to her feedback before coming back with other options. Needless to say, we were able to find a veil and all of the necessary accessories while having a truly exceptional experience.

What a beautiful experience! I purchased all of my wedding jewelry, veil, reception headpiece and my Mother’s jewelry at Left Bank. Every piece is unique and well curated at the boutique. I was lucky enough to be searching for a veil at the time they were having a Sara Gabriel Trunk Show. I was able to alter a few changes to my veil and customize it to my liking, it complimented my Monique Lhuillier dress incredibly. I will definitely return when I’m looking for that special piece of jewelry. Thank you Left Bank!

I had an amazing experience with The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery. I found a beautiful belt at a bridal salon and needed it to attach to my bridal gown within a day. I called the store on a Monday when they were closed. The owner Susan called me back that evening and told me they could make it and have it ready the very next day. They did and it made all the difference on my wedding day. Thank you for going above and beyond!

I’m a longtime customer of The Left Bank, so naturally when I became engaged I went there to start my jewelry search. I could not have had a better experience– it’s a very personal thing to choose the jewelry that makes you feel like a bride, and Susan was gracious and helpful as always. Her staff is wonderful, too– It was like chatting with my girlfriends (minus the wine, of course). I chose a stunning floral headband with swarovski crystals and a beautiful pair of earrings. When I discovered that a tiny stone was missing, they immediately took care of it for me, on the spot. I also bought my bridesmaids’ bangles here, and they were thrilled with their gifts. The combination of being treated like an old friend and walking out with sparkly, gorgeous jewelry was perfect. I felt stunning on my wedding day and I received so many compliments specifically on the headband. As soon as I get pictures back I will post them! The store also carries beautiful shawls/​jackets/​cover ups, shoes, and the jewelry selection is HUGE — just about any thing that a bride could need. They also have very nice casual/​trendy jewelry as well, so even if you’re not shopping for wedding items, you should go. If you are looking for a pleasant experience shopping as well as gorgeous options, The Left Bank is where you should start your search.

I cannot explain how wonderful this place is, and i am probably the worst (or you may call it best also!) critic.
More to come later, with details, as I continue to explore this wonderful store for all I need for my wedding, as it is not over yet. There was more to offer than I realized I was even walking in specifically for.

The woman working there when we stopped by was super friendly, but the store only really stocks one kind of thing. If you want sparkles, this is your place! But if you’re not a blingy bride, it really isn’t. The shoe selection isn’t huge, either… Despite the rave reviews for wedding shoes.
They also were closed for several days during the holidays but this information wasn’t available online or on their answering machine; you had to actually go to the store to find out when they reopened. Not convenient for suburbian clients!

Quaint little boutique with a country charm… Very nice pieces. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I purchased earrings for my wedding… I found a gem in Lincoln Park!

Thank you Left Bank — my wedding shoes were the most AMAZINGLY comfortable shoes ever! Left Bank carries Angela Nuran Ballroom-​style Bridal Shoes. They’re a splurge (or they were for my budget), but as one to-​be-​unnamed salesman from another location said, «My darling, you can’t put a [so-​and-​so designer] dress with cheap shoes, it just isn’t right». And that was when I walked out of that store and over to Left Bank, where the salespeople are very friendly, the shoes are very comfortable, and everything else is amazingly beautiful and incredibly tempting. And there, I fell in love with the Angela Nuran shoes, went home to think about it, and came back to get them just a few days later because I was too excited to wait. And yes, I do have to say I’m glad I got a high quality shoe to go with my gorgeous dress.
Incidentally, I have to compliment Left Bank’s service and return policy as well. I had an unfortunate surgery-​requiring knee injury before my wedding and had to decrease the height of my shoes. Luckily I had always worn hose when trying on my heels (no toe prints) and they took them back for exchange, and even let me borrow a different version of the same height for my fittings until the ones they ordered for me came in.

I am glad my friend recommended this place for my wedding shoes.
Everything is beautiful in this store, but, pricey. Now, let us be realistic, you get what you pay for, and here you will get quality and a very good service.
Other reviews said something about the sales person being pushy, that was not my case.
I bought my shoes, just ordered my veil from them and I am planning on buying accessories as well.
PS: Tips for parking, you can find many spots on N. Racine Ave, next to the Trebes Park, it is not free parking, but it works for me every time I go to the store.

Cute shop… smells a little moldy and mildewy. the staff and the owner are on your back the ENTIRE time… I understand that they want to feel you out and try to help, but it’s too much. You don’t even have a chance to think, with all the questions. Is it allowed to «just browse» in here? All my bride friends said the same thing over the year…
They follow you around and don’t even give you a moment to yourself .
After looking at a pair of earrings, I was looking at the label, and they barked at me saying, «if you google that, you just be re-​directed to our store soo.»
I just felt that they made me feel like Julia Roberts shopping in «Pretty Woman», before she had her nice clothes on…
I wouldn’t recommend it. unless you like snarky people…

This store was a great surprise! I wondered over after a treat at Sweet Mandy B’s with a friend and we found so many cool things from shoes to jewelry to hair pieces, etc. Even if you’re not getting married, they have accessories for everyone! I recommend stopping by — some things are a little on the pricey things, but there were some items on sale and others that were reasonable. Every one that works in the store is super friendly!

I heard about the Left Bank from reading reviews on bridal sites. Since many were mixed, I decided to find out for myself. In search of a birdcage veil for my elopement wedding and some jewelry, I drove to Left Bank. Parking can be tricky, but I was fortunate to be able to go during a weekday, so I found parking on the street about a block away. The shop itself, is quaint, but their stock is full. It was a beautiful shop with many vintage looking items and gorgeous jewelry, hair pins, veils, and more.
Beth assisted me and was awesome! She took her time showing me the different veils and and hairpin options. I described my dress and she helped me pick out a necklace and earrings that matched perfectly! A few other customers came in during that time, and she was very polite with all of us as she tried to give everyone the best customer support. Since she was the only one there at the time, I would recommend that if you are in a hurry, you save your visit for a day when you have more time. I was happy to take my time as I didn’t want to rush into a purchase. The store also had an extensive shoe collection with gorgeous shoes! Had I not already purchased my shoes, I probably would have found some here. I purchased my birdcage veil, flower hair fascinator, earrings, and necklace from Left Bank.
Another wonderful part of my experience though was that the owner had emailed a follow up about a week after my shopping experience. I thought it was very nice and professional.
The reason I gave it 4 stars opposed to 5 was that on my wedding day, the metal attachment to the hair fascinator broke and we had to scramble to try and bobby pin the flower to my hair. As it was a little pricey since it was handmade and silk, I was bummed that it broke. As anything can happen on a wedding day, bobby pins are a bride’s best friend and it all worked out. :) I won’t return the hair flower as it is a part of my special day, but it was disappointing that it broke.
Overall, I definitely think making a stop here is worth a bride’s trip. Yes, the veils might be more costly than some other places, but you are getting handmade silk, which does lay much nicer to the head and face than a machine made mass produced material. The items in the store are unique as well and nothing I saw in other bridal salons. I like knowing that some of my pieces were one of a kind. I also forgot to mention that they sew a cute little blue heart on the inside of the hair piece as you «something blue.» Lovely!

I came here mainly looking for a bridal hairpiece, knowing full well that it would probably be out of my price range… And indeed it was. Although they had some fantastic looking selections, my wedding is not in the «drop $ 300 – 400 on something sparkly for my hair» budget.
The salespeople are kind of pushy, which is always a big turn-​off for me. In fact I went with my fiancée to get his opinion on some choices and every time I asked what he liked he never got a chance to answer because she would suggest another pair of earrings to try on or ask for the fourth time where our wedding was. She also decided to fill something out with our info, even though we didn’t buy anything.
There was a cute little french knickknack section in the store, although I’m not sure how it tied in with everything else… but they had things like Eiffel tower key chains, macaroon trinket cases, and Fleur de Lis tissues.
The jewelry is gorgeous and high-​quality, and they have a great selection… but it’ll leave a hole in your pocketbook.

Loooooved this place! Such an awesome little store to come to for bridal accessories! I purchased my wedding earrings, necklace and hair pins from The Left Bank and couldn’t be happier. The guy who was helping me (I think his name is Mario) was soooooo wonderful. He let me first pick what I *thought* I wanted and then he went to town. He brought me so many wonderful pieces that I would have never thought to try on. Of course, the necklace I ended up buying was one of the most expensive ones in the store, but I don’t care, it’s so beautiful!
Love the selection and the service — highly recommended.

After a fruitless search for my wedding shoes on Michigan Ave (visiting all the major department stores including Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Saks, and Neiman Marcus) I was truly bummed by the lack of ivory shoes. Fortunately I did a search on Unilocal and discovered this gem.
The Left Bank has a wide selection of wedding shoes at the back of their pretty shop. The sales lady was very patient with me and told me that I should choose the pair that I was most comfortable with. I tried on several and finally found the perfect ones.
The store also carries gorgeous jewelry, ivory/​white purses and little wedding things (i.e. garters, handkerchiefs, etc). I highly recommend this place for any bride-​to-​be looking for their wedding shoes.
