We’re not your typical used furniture store. We have an eclectic mix of styles in variety of price ranges. We carry top brands along with custom build and one of a kind items.

History

Established in 1996.

Threads Etc. started at the corner of Milwaukee and Wood in Wicker Park about 17 years ago. We were just clothing at that time, we basicly bought and sold clothing, from vintage to designer, with an emphasis on leathers. We were there for 5 years, and then we lost our lease. We found a warehouse sized building in Logan Square, the only problem was that it was a very slow retail area at the time. We continued our clothing business, but with 18 000 sq. ft. we were able to incorporate furniture. Over the years our furniture and housewares has taken over, and we deemphasized our clothing, but we still kept our namesake. We are a family owned business, in which brothers Phil and Ray established. We are a furniture consignment warehouse, and we do carry a small selection of clothing. We sell peoples merchandilse for them, from art, home décor and furnishings and a vast collection of furniture from all eras. Thanks for checking us out.

I started the original Threads Etc. fresh out of college 17 years ago and have been doing it ever since. I am a family man with a wife and 2 children. Grew up on the south side of Chicago, and resale has always been in my blood. Ever since I was 3 years old I was on the old Maxwell street with my parents selling merchandise. I am a big fan of Yelp, and peoples ideas have helped me shaped my business. You can always learn something new.

I stopped in to see if I could find some interesting, quirky pieces. They sell a lot of mid century and stuff that reminds you of houses in the 80s. Anything remotely stylish is quite overpriced, at times to absurd degrees. More commonly you find, say, a blonde oak chest coffee table with a big split on the side of the lid. That’s probably still 70 bucks. All in all, I couldn’t find much that had that right mix of style and affordability and «maybe I can paint this.» I also saw an Ikea Lack coffee table for 35 bucks. Those are like 25 at Ikea. What, is assembly worth 10? That takes some balls.

We just found the sofa we were looking for! All the staff was amazing — they were so helpful and were able to get our furniture delivered the same afternoon. Big thanks to Jesse and Jose — you guys were great!

We bought new dining room and living room furniture at Threads, Etc. in Logan Square, which totally transformed the look and feel of our home, for so much less than it would have cost at a furniture store. The items we chose look as if they had never been used.
We had great service at the store, from helpful, friendly employees, notably Bart and Emily, and great delivery and assembly service from John, Jose, and Jesse.

Hey all! Just wanted to say huge thanks to Treads etc. Especially to Jose, Jesse, Daniel, and to Big Boss Ray! I’ve head a five bedroom house full of furniture. We have scheduled a time, and the boys came perfectly on time! Not only they were fast and professional, they’ve also took a really good care! Very very very good guys! I definitely recommend Threads if you want to sell your furniture, and I definitely recommend you folks to take a ride to the shop and check everything out!

I recently purchased a chair from Threads and I was in love with it. A simple but super comfortable office chair with a sleek design. It is so hard to find a good office chair! After a few days, a small part came loose and I had no way to bring the chair back for them to fix. The owner came to my house and fixed it himself. I live just a few blocks away. This is excellent customer service and while I’m not sure they will do house calls all the time, I can tell they take their business seriously. I will be back in the future for sure.

It’s always worth walking through this store to see what’s new as inventory changes frequently. Living in the neighborhood, we’ve gotten a few pieces now at great prices. There’s a young guy (whose name escapes me now) who was a HUGE help finding a pair of chairs of out of a big set in mixed condition. He spent a lot of time to make us happy, and we appreciated the great customer service.
We have moved out of the neighborhood, but I’m sure we’ll roll through from time to time!

Great used furniture shop– they specifically had a great selection of tables when I stopped in. The styles and variety here are awesome, from a great marble and glass console (marked half off from an original price of $ 2000!) to a vintage yellow end table (~$ 150) and a round wooden statement chest ($ 200). Lots of variety here for sure, and that was just the items I could get to, as the back of the store is congested with items.
Be sure to grab a flyer from the front desk to know the color-​coded markdowns during your visit. Prices are all over the place, but all seem very fair– you’ll get great quality here, at a discount, but I wouldn’t call this place cheap. Not sure if this place delivers or ships.
As others have said, the store name is a bit of a misnomer considering they don’t sell clothes. However, they do have a nice jewelry case by the door with some vintage cocktail rings and statement necklaces.

This resale shop in Logan Square was a lot of fun to visit. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and they have both trash and treasures. Much of their wares are furniture of all types. From antique to modern, from low priced to very highly priced, there is something for people starting out to people who have made it already.
They also have extensive collections of knick-​knacks, artwork, etc. Don’t miss the upstairs — lots more furniture is up there.

Walked in with not thinking I’d find anything, walked out with 3 items, delivery was reasonable and the guys did a great job getting my stuff up three flights of stairs. Not once hitting the wall, they were so nice making sure the furniture was placed exactly where I wanted it. Will definitely be going back. I love used pieces and threads definitely has a great selection.

This place is pretty awesome. The owner is very friendly and always willing to try to strike a deal with you. They have a really large selection of furniture and although they aren’t dirt cheap, you’re getting a higher quality second hand product. We have purchased quite a few pieces from Threads and they are all great!

We really enjoy having this store nearby. The selection and variety of vintage furniture and home décor items is hard to beat. We found a large and unique nightstand for our children and Phil gave us a steal of a deal. We absolutely love it. He personally came to my house and helped me move it in when my wife and I couldn’t do it alone. Please patronize this great Logan Square small business!

This is the best place in Chicago to buy awesome used furniture, knick-​knacks and sometimes even art. The whole staff is either family or taken care of as such. Phil is more than willing to accommodate even us annoying clients. Great place and if you’re in Logan can’t go wrong checking out threads while waiting for your table at Revolution.

Just grabbed a pair of awesome vintage chairs for our living room. Staff was friendly and helpful, regular prices and sale prices were kind of amazing. This in the kind of place where you have to look around a lot because there’s so much stuff. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some fun and unique finds.

I love all the cute little knick knacks they have everything under the sun from cute salt and pepper shakers to couches and drum sets. Expensive as hell though. They also don’t have any clothes which was why I went in there in the first place

Fantastic store. The selection is significantly larger than other resale or antique stores. What really stood out though was the customer service. After the delivery service could not make it up the stairs with a particularly large hutch I ordered, the owner personally oversaw a second attempt and got the item up without issue. I couldn’t be happier with the purchase or the way the moving issue was handled.

Love this place! It’s a bit pricey for thrift shops but for the quality of their furniture is absolutely reasonable. Not one piece of the furniture looked worn out or dirty. I got this gem vintage dresser for 60 $! Couldn’t believe my eyes! And the owner Phil is a sweetheart! He was so nice and helpful! Def will be back for more!

No idea why this is called threads since I say maybe 1 piece of clothing for sale. The rest of this place is filled floor to ceiling with furniture and housewares. We saw some very cool finds, including tables, chairs, hutches, sofas, desks for less than $ 200 – 300. But wait, there’s more! They run great markdown deals, and it wasn’t uncommon to find a nice dining table or a set of great armchairs marked down 30−50%. We walked out empty handed on the day that we went because we just couldn’t make up our minds about a cute set of desk chairs, but we will definitely be back to check out new inventory!

Just AMAZING!!! I am a repeat customer and only have wonderful things to say about this gem of a business. First off the owners and workers are great. They are very friendly and helpful. I have made 5 large purchases here and each time I was helped getting my furniture loaded into my car. They even let us (boyfriend and i) borrow blankets and straps so we would get the stuff to our house. I really appreciate these people.
We purchased a dinning room table with six chair. It is dark wood and in great shape. Before we even made the purchase they helped us inspect the piece to make sure everything was intact before we took it home. I just love the table and it was a good price. We also got 2 bamboo chairs with a bamboo table. Adorable find. We found our dresser here, a 3 piece bookshelf/​hutch, and a beautiful vanity that I don’t know what I would do without it now. They were great prices and we love love love everything we purchased from Threads.
I continue to tell all my friends in the area about this place and will continue to do so. There is something for everything here and they get new stuff alllll the time. We check for new things for the house all the time. Thank you so much for being such a sold business, and ill probably see you next week lol. :)

Very solid consignment shop with great service. The employees are very helpful and friendly, and they even offer delivery, which is not true of most thrift stores. Our delivery guys were great with a large and fragile hutch.
I agree with others’ reviews that it’s not really a thrift store, so don’t go expecting that, and the pricing is a bit willy-​nilly — though once I learned it was a consignment shop that made a lot more sense.
A tip: if you’re willing to wait, often things will go down in price after a month or 2. And this is definitely more of a furniture and home goods store than a clothing thrift shop, FYI.
