Great food, great people and the bartender Billy Ensworth is the best what a great bar to go too

There are not a lot of options for bars on the south side. At least none you probably want to go into. I’ve been to Turtle Bar and Grill several times now. This is an okay place. Good staff and good crowd. Classic sports bar. I work in the area and this is within walking distance so I find myself here occasionally. They have a descent beer selection. A little light on IPAs, but the ones they have are good. For non-IPA drinkers who still want something less shitty than Bud Light, they have a good ciders(and special ones over the holidays), a full bar, and some okay whiskies. The food here is actually better than descent. Yeah, it’s bar food, but it’s really quite good, what I have had. I have not been here on Sox game day, but I bet it’s nuts. Be warned. If you find yourself in the area, stop in. You could do a lot worse.

This bar is great! My friends and I went here on a school night and had a great time. Easy access to street parking and the drink prices were cheap. There’s happy hour on food as well. Very Chill place. Great for a quick get together for a drink or two or more ! :p

Idk what to say at this point. I just became friends with 316 yr olds. They do have very good service and they’ve been in the game for a while. Great place to go for a bucket of beers and a good appetizer. They they do take there time though. I think they’re called turtles for a reason. Don’t expect fast service. Definately neighborhood joint and you’ll find yourself amongst friends and family. So all in all 4 stars.

Classic Bridgeport staple, despite just looking like a standard bar/pub, they have some pretty good craft beers on tap, and good food that isn’t expensive, it’s very close to the red line and sox park, I’ve gotten the clam chowder and parm fries, kinda small space so it can get packed, but if you go when it’s not too packed you can definitely have a good time

Good food. Fries were yummie and the spicy pasta I got was great. good size portions. Owners were nice enough to hold on to my credit card when I forgot it there.

Small, cozy and totally a neighborhood bar. Couple craft beers not a big selection. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Had Monday’s half price cheeseburger. Excellent burger. Also, got the Parmesan hand cut fries. Highly recommend this joint…

Dropped by here on a Friday night for dinner then stayed for drinks. The food was good and the bar itself was pretty cool. Probably would’ve given it four stars if not for our bartender Eric. He was on top of his shit and made sure we didn’t have to wait around for drinks(something I don’t understand why other bars aren’t better at). He was also a funny guy and by the time we left felt like he was one of our buddies. If you go there, find him — he had a bunch of tattoos — and he’ll make sure you’re taken care of.

Anything you choose on the menu you will not be disappointed. Buffalo Sliders are the best

They offer an outdoor patio that obviously opens when the weather is permitting great little place to go and sit down after an exhausting day in the office. Food is absolutely wonderful garlic parm fries, Italian grilled chicken sandwich, buffalo chicken egg rolls are fan favorites everything on their menu is awesome that’s why I’d give them 5 stars! Now let’s get to the service its god awful; slow, the waitress are miserable and take 87 years to get you a plastic cup of water. Water in a plastic cup what has this come too? But yet every time you see them they are always laughing and goofing around with each other and 14 year olds that are sitting at the bar! I don’t know what’s going on. Also their bartenders look miserable as well every time I go in there, and they take forever to get me a miller lite especially the bigger bartender everyone calls«Meech» I mean first things first is he even old enough to be behind the counter? He’s always on his phone, and yelling at the servers also he doesn’t know much about the products on the menu either. Overall if they had a little prep talk about customer service before they started everyday and how to speak to paying customers this would be a great place to become a regular! But ayyy turtles your doing great on your food, let’s spice up your service! Cheers!..

I was compelled to write my first Unilocal review because my wife and I decided to try turtles because of their four star reviews, but unfortunately we got low class food and service. Their burgers were over cooked to the point that I couldn’t distinguish them from biting into a car tire. There were only a couple groups of college kids in the bar, yet the bartenders paid us no attention even when our drinks had been sitting empty for 10 minutes. When we called them over for refills, they were very rude and acted like we were causing them a great inconvenience. Normally I like to give second chances, but this was sick a bad experience that I can state with 100% certainty that I will never be visiting this bar again, and you shouldn’t either. Very disappointing!

Was treated like crap by an Old Geezer bartender on Cellular Field’s Polish Heritage night. Was wearing my Polish Mafia shirt and this wannabe gangster starting flexing his sagging muscles and ignoring my drink order. My old lady snapped his geriatric butt in line and ordered our beverages. I hate Turtles because of this Old Geezer. He needs to take his Geritol and wash it down with arsenic.

Been here a few randoms weekdays for some beers, food, and sports games. Place in itself is quite chill. It’s small venue with I’m assuming neighborhood folks. Beers: good selections for draft beers. Plenty for the small bar. Foods: the pizza rocks. Thin crust with just the right amount of sauce /ingredients. Garlic fries are DELISH! Highly recommended. There are food specials nightly so call in for options. I would try there other stuff also. Service: it’s decent. They aren’t hovering over you but not 100%attentive either. Have been friendly. No complaints. The bad: I cannot highly recommend a place when their bathrooms are cold. Sound petty? I just don’t like going pee and being cold! Also, they have a door in the middle of the place as well as the comer– they should really lock that middle door in winter. At every opening you have to put on your jacket. Again, not a big spot so you do feel that draft. Would I go again? Definitely. Good time to go with a friend or two and also a date.

The hamburger sliders were tender and juicy. The calamari is just ok. Tasted salty and chewy mostly. The waitress didn’t seem to be very friendly so it was really tense. No drinks menu according to her. Ordered a 312 and it was good. Just glad at least one thing turn out well.

The food there is really good. I got their chopped salad there during lunch and I was amazed and how many ingredients they threw in there. I also have tried their Parmesan garlic fries. Those are great too. One thing that ruins it for me is the service. I think the bartender and the waitresses are rude, cranky, unpleasant. This is true for all of the times I have been there. You see them smiling and joking with high school kids(they may be in college but look young), but then they come to our table and get cranky. My co-workers go here after work in the summer because it’s one of two bars nearby. We like sitting outside. However, when we need more tables or drinks, it takes them a really long time to get these things. We see them attending to the table next to us promptly. I’m not sure if they have something against us, but I don’t think we’ve done anything to make their jobs harder. We ask for the same things/service the customers next to us ask for.

We had a school dinner thing for dressdown and i went along with the kids after a long day at work to see people waiting for their orders. Turtle employees were overwhelmed with phone orders as well. The wait staff was very sweet and honest about the times. We ordered Buffalo chicken sliders, chicken sandwich and placed an order for another chicken Sandwich over the phone which they got wrong and made chicken tenders. Food was fairly decent but nothing over the top which is expected of bar food. Will try going back on a not so busy day.

The locals clearly have an inexplicable soft spot for this place and it’s mediocre service and menu. Because the options within walking distance to work are incredibly slim, and it’s convenient for the occasional Sox game, I’ve returned at least 3 other times in the past 2 years since I reviewed it the first time and gave it two stars. I keep seeing the positive reviews and I think, gee maybe I just got them on a bad day. I’ll give them another chance. I also secretly hoped they’d read my previous review and step it up a bit on the service.

I really like Turtles. This is my mid-week destination when I need to come up with dinner on my own. The beer is always cold, the food is really good(the meatball sub and parm. fries are my favorite) and the bar tenders are attentive and remember you. Turtle’s also has a patio facing the park for those nice days along with multiple TVs to catch the game. Those in Bridgeport appreciate the food and drink specials(unlike another bar a block away), and I personally enjoy the community events and atmosphere. 5 Stars from me.

All five of us ordered the«house-made burger» served on a pretzel bun with the garlic parm fries.(shout out to a nice lady walking along us on the sidewalk after the very last red socks game of the season.) we sure were happy we asked her if she knew about any good restaurants close by the ballpark. Because the flavors in this one pound hamburger were amazing and the pretzel bun put it over the top. I have to talk about the fries because they were like eating potato skins with the skins still on and atop them(if you choose) was garlic and real grated Parmesan cheese. everything was delish! our meal was served to us outside by our friendly waitress Lynn who went out of her way to give us some ideas about other great restaurants and shops to go check out while on our family vacation here in Chicago. Lynn let us know that they have $ 5.00 burger night on Mondays if or should i say when you go to «turtles» please tell her hi from the Webers of Las Vegas. * warning these burgers could be highly addictive!
