Velasquez Mufflers & Brakes

I brought my car in not knowing wat was wrong with it, & I completely agree w/​the other « Unilocalers» that they appeared very professional, were very polite & seemd to be knowledgeable as they called me back at home a little later w/​a diagnoses. I had dealt w/​Ivan & he indicated that I needed my rack n pinion done, my sway bar (I own an Olds Bravada) replaced & that they are going to rotate my tires and give my vehicle an alignment. I then asked Ivan wat this will all cost me he expressed it was a big job so he’ll «throw in» the rotation & alignment & with that it’ll be in the neighborhood of $ 1200. Well, I wasn’t expecting the amount to be so large, but, if it needed to be done, I gave him the «ok». I was called when the job was completed & the actual bill was $ 1292 as he explained how bad my parts were, they were breaking into pieces & how it was a good thing I had all this done. He also advised me that they «threw in» the alignment but to get new tires as mine were pretty worn. Ok, paid the bill, was out of there. I do have to say though, given the alignment & rotation done, the vehicle didn’t drive any differently. I followed up on wat he & his guys suggested, went out got my 2 new tires but yet the car still didn’t «feel”(ex: the steering wheel didn’t «come back» on its own upon turning & when letting go of the steering wheel, the vehicle would veer off to the sides) right. And then exactly a lil over a month later my «New» tires were all eaten away where u can see the meshing coming thru and eventually I had a non-​fixable flat front tire. I had to go back out buy ANOTHER set of tires (bcuz both were ruined) but the man who installed my 2^nd set of new tires advised me to have that «wheel alignment» checked. I called up to Velasquez, told them of my problem they told me to bring the car back with my New tires and they’ll do another wheel alignment free of charge. Ok, did exactly that. They took it someplace that’s apparently TOP-​SECRET as they refused to disclose to me where they have their alignments done at, bcuz still nothing felt any different. I finally took it to another mechanic (before these 2^nd set were all eaten up) out of the neighborhood & their conclusion was that if there was 2 wheel alignments done, «they were horrible» bcuz the vehicle is all over the road. And they were right. The vehicle was hard to handle on the road, so they told me to leave it, they’ll do the alignment. When I came back, the mechanic had me drive the car prior to paying the bill and now FINALLY the car felt safe, the steering wheel was «tighter» upon turning, the car drove straight when letting go of the steering wheel & it felt so much better. When I called Velasquez & asked the mechanic on the phone about where they supposedly took my car, he told me he can’t give me that information as its private. I told him wat happened & how I now had to bring my car someplace else for a proper alignment he uttered something, laughed & hung up on me. I’ve done business with them before, thought they were reputable, but after this nightmare experience and having to buy 2 sets of front tires within a month’s time, I don’t think so anymore. Yes they’re very nice to u initially, up until u have a problem with their workmanship, then they’re not so nice. I might be a woman, but it is not rocket science that NO ALIGNMENT «thrown in» was ever, ever done.

Courteous, thorough and kept me informed of the work needed. Prioritized what had to be done and gave me options. Detailed my car after the work was complete.
