(From a couple years ago): after a few hiccups with my initial choice of frame –the style was causing constant pain due to the way it rested on my bridge– they replaced my glasses with a new style for just the difference in price. Pain-​free ever since and I’ve never had so many compliments on my glasses my entire life. Yes, the frames can get a bit pricey depending on what you choose but you get what you pay for. Thumbs up.

Excellent medical care from the moment you walk through the door to the next visit. They care about you as a patient for the whole year, not just when you come in. Would recommend them to everyone. I have a difficult prescription and they have managwd to make me comfortable and work through the problems with ease and comfort.

Excellent experience. Definitely my new frames store. Matt and Jamal are considerate and very professional. Matt «got» my style immediately. There’s a real art to this ability — pulling the right frames that suit an individual upon first meeting them takes a level of passion that often isn’t found in retail stores such as this. They keep a file on each guest, so if you’re interested in any frames that you can’t afford on a particular visit, Matt or Jamal make a note of that in your file along with any and all pertinent vision information, of course. Visionary Eye Care Professionals is not for the corporate junkie. It’s small, personable, and promotes individuality. And it’s located in a neighbourhood that supports this, the best in Chicago.

I just got off the phone with them, based on a stellar review I called thinking they would be a great place to go. I seen a clearance sale pic on Unilocal so i was stoked! When i mentioned I had lenses already just needed frames, it then it seemed the call shifted from helpful to, oh we don’t have that size right now, but we are getting a shipment in from New York in a month or two.
Problem is, I never mentioned a size, I just said a bigger size.
Also when someone calls for eyeglasses there is usually a immediate need, not a check back in a month or two.
Is New York the Epicenter for eyeglasses?
Sorry, but that was terrible service, I bet you would of been more kind if you knew I was a Elite Unilocaler!

A great Andersonville gem — friendly — helpful — a great choice for yourself and your family. Always highly recommended.

Dr. Ciszek has training and insights that go beyond simply prescribing corrective lenses/​contacts. He is about as close to an ophthalmologist as you can get without being one as far as I can see. He has been proactive about eye conditions for me and gave my step mother solutions for a problem no other doctors gave her. She considers it a miracle.
The staff is focused on great service and are very knowledgeable and patient. Dr,. Ciszek is willing to communicate by email and the whole team is very tech savvy.

I always opt for a local business whenever possible, and Visionary Eye Care is a great choice for a good experience for your eye care needs. I’ve found the staff to be very courteous and helpful. They are not the least expensive option; however, I believe you very often get what you pay for. I’m willing to spend a little more for a local business that offers incredibly good service. Dr. Warner is one of the best eye care physicians I’ve ever experienced. He does a great job of teaching and explaining as he goes.

FANTASTIC customer service. Nat, an optician, was super helpful and very competent. I had problems with glasses I got elsewhere. I refused to go back to the optician where I purchased them because they were unable to correct their mistakes. Nat spend a lot of time with me. They replaced a lens that had fallen out, adjusted the ear and nose pieces and told me the lens had been cut too small for the frame. All this at no charge! And no, they did not try to sell me new ones. In fact due to their adjustments, I will be able to wear my glasses longer. The glasses are now comfortable and not hurting my nose as they were before. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Visionary. I will definitely go there to buy my next pair of glasses. They know what good customer service is.

I had Lasik a decade ago and thought that meant I did not have to get my eyes checked ever again. My mother reminded otherwise, so I went to see Dr. Ciszek at Visionary Eye Care in Andersonville. Easy parking, easy to get an appointment that fit my schedule. Dr. Ciszek is awesome — ran the full panel with the latest equipment. I had headaches and complaints of imperfect distance vision, and he fixed me up with a super cute pair of glasses. His staff was all really gracious, and best of all, I was in and out in no time.

I like Dr. Cizek but here’s my issue — intern. I understand people have to learn but give me education prices if a student is going to do my full eye exam. And I didn’t really like the student — she had no personality and was very pushy. Yes, the doctor came in after the exam and checked a few things. I think the doctor should stay in the room through the entire exam or offer me a reduced rate. This is not an inexpensive exam that’s being done through a chain store. If I was at Costco — then fine.
I had great help picking out glasses and what worked best on my face from the front desk.

I started going here a few weeks ago and I like them a lot. Dr. Cisnek is fantastic and thorough, and has helped me a great deal. The office staff has also been friendly and helpful!

These guys are the BEST. Friendly, super-​helpful front-​of-​house staff and caring, knowledgeable doctors. I’ve been seeing Dr. Joe for 5 years now, and I love him. They’re out-​of-​network for me (though they’re currently working on changing that, since a lot of Chicago union workers have the same vision plan! Yay!!), but I don’t care– the level of service is worth it to me to pay out-​of-​pocket and bill my insurance individually (which they will facilitate, BTW, providing you all the forms and signatures you need to submit yourself). I’m an old hand at optometric care, having worn contacts since I was 9, and used to work in an optometrist’s office myself– I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Also– Jamar (office manager, holla!!) helped me choose a gorgeous pair of frames for my notoriously hard-​to-​fit features, and they’re so great I’m still using them years later.

Yes, they’re pricey, but the service is really good. The optometrists listen to your concerns. Dr. Ciszek is nice and professional. Their frame selection is great (again, pricey) but there are some stylish affordable options. The folks behind the desk are good at sorting out what’s covered by vision insurance.

I’ve struggled to find an optometrist I’ve liked since arriving in Chicago 5 years ago. I finally found it with these folks. Big pluses included Sunday appointments; very thorough checkup with Dr. Joe who was really helpful in explaining how my eyes have changed; very helpful, friendly service from Charlie. And, no issues when I had to reschedule the appointment a couple of times. I haven’t gotten the frames yet, but so far very good.
No bike racks right in front but not far away.

I have no complaints about the optometrists here. I saw them for 12 years and have nothing negative to say besides they are a bit more expensive than most. However, the sales portion of the store either needs some work. Very poor customer service (Jeffrey mostly).
Considering how many years I had been loyal and the amount of money I spent over the years they might remember my name once in a while. Also, I feel they are a bit insulting when giving feedback when trying on frames.
I believe in supporting business’ in my neighborhood, but when I feel like they really don’t support me — then I turn my back.
Try frames on here — then shop online — I guarantee you will save a bundle on frames.

I really like Dr. Ciszek and the staff here. When I had a recurring eye problem this week, Dr. Ciszek squeezed me in at the last minute and stayed late to finish my exam. He was able to diagnose a condition I’ve had since I was a kid, and his examination was very meticulous.
In addition, I got an email asking how how I was recovering. When does that happen-​ever? The doctor even wrote me back directly saying he was glad I was doing better. I think this is a doctor who really cares about his patients and his work.
The office itself it nice, modern, and comfortable.

I have been here before and the doctor is awesome, but Jeffrey at the front desk is horrible to deal with. Jeffrey is the reason I will never go back, work on your customer service buddy.

Awesome doctor and staff. Very kind and thorough. This whole place has a pretty hip selection. The staff is very friendly!
The only thing in life I seem to be picky about, are glasses.
I have a hard time picking them out… One of the girls gave me her honest opinion about look and fit.
If I had a problem with the fitting, they would adjust my glasses with ease.
I also had a strange and rare problem with my lenses cracking. They have taken care of me each and every time I’ve come through that door.

I’m baffled by the 1-​star ratings and stories that people are telling. I LOVE these people. They’ve been my eye care professionals the entire time I’ve lived in Chicago (6 years now) and I’ve never had anything that even resembles a problem with them. They’re friendly, welcoming, prompt to follow up. What more do you need?
One year during my annual exam, I was having a really hard time with the whole «better/​worse» portion of the test. (Honestly, after a while they all start to look the same and one «wrong» answer can really steer your prescription in the wrong direction.) Dr. Joe (Warner) grabbed an old-​timey case of lenses and we went OUTSIDE, he had me focus on a street sign in the distance that should be razor sharp with the right rx and we «better/worse’d» until we nailed it. Effing amazing.
The front desk staff is super cool, with many of them knowing me by name (or even by voice when I call to order contacts!). I don’t even live in their neighborhood anymore and I still shlep my way to them.
I’d say if any of you have had bad experiences, TELL THEM. I’m sure they’d rather know that you feel they missed the mark so that they can be mindful in the future rather than have you go on Unilocal!and drag their good name through the mud.
