Jason is always fair and polite. We’ve had our 2004 VW Jetta at Won’s a handful of times. I’ve been impressed with the level kind service we’ve received. I trust this auto shop.

Jason does amazing work. He’s the Harry Hogge to my Cole Trickle (Days of Thunder, Tom Cruise, go watch it). I’ve brought my car in a couple of times and instead of taking my money without question he helped me figure out the best way to handle it (often times free of charge). This is where you should bring your car.

Tried to head to another place in town and even though I called and they assured me I didn’t need an appointment, when I arrived they told me they wouldn’t be able to fit me in until the next day. As we were leaving for the holidays the next day — I panicked, then calmed myself and called Jason at Wons — he told me to come on in, they quickly inspected my car, identified the issues, located the parts in the warehouse and I was picking up the Ol’ Jetta just a couple hours later! Everyone was very professional and helpful, polite and efficient! Will visit them again should the need arise!

Glad to find a decent mechanic in the neighborhood and plan to use them again, but my first experience did leave me a little put off. Brought in my Mercedes for routine servicing and my wife picked it up. First thing I noticed when I got in the car was it smelled like someone had been sitting in it smoking. The smell didn’t go away for a couple days. (Maybe it had something to do with the new air filters installed??? My bad if it is, but it smelled exactly like cigarette smoke). Also, I immediately noticed that the top off coolant light on the dash was still on. Had to go back in a few days later so they could fill the tank and the light went off. I totally realize these are minor issues, but when you pay $ 500 bucks for a routine service and oil change these are things that should not be over looked.

Jason provided an honest and thoughtful analysis of my 2010 Tiguan. This is easily the best auto garage I have ever done business with, and probably one of the best customer service experiences I have had anywhere, ever. I highly recommend Won’s Auto Werks for any auto service needs, especially for German cars.

They provide very honest, high quality service. They are my favorite place to get an oil change/​car service in the city. Very reasonable prices.

I have a 2004 BMW x5 and have been forced to stop into Wons from time to time. This shop and the guys there are great, honest beyond belief and so much cheaper than the dealer! I’m so happy a friend referred me to them several years back!

We have an 2005 Porsche Cayenne. Over the last 4 years we’ve had to visit Wons on multiple occasions for both minor and major fixes and every time the work has been completed timely, at a very fair price, and I completely trust the crew there. They are now on my speed dial and I will continue to use them as long as we live in the city. Jordon is always available for questions when I have them. He’s even offered to drive my kids and I home on occasions where I drop the car off in rainy or snowy weather. We haven’t taken him up on it since we are two blocks away but such a nice offer none-​the-​less. An all around wonderful experience every time we use Won’s. Great customer service (and my car is always clean when I pick it up!)

I’ve got a problematic A4 1.8t and Jason has helped me time and again with whatever issue is plaguing my cursed vehicle. The prices are extremely fair and they work quickly. On one of those ridiculous polar vortex days, I got a flat tire– luckily I was around the corner from Won’s so I limped my car over and they put my spare on for free. Thoughtful, knowledgeable, highly recommended.

When my car overheated recently, I took it to Won’s. Jason and Jordan diagnosed the problem in minutes and were able to order and install a new thermostat in the same day.
I have a Saab and parts have become both very hard to find and expensive since Saab no longer manufactures vehicles. I called another shop that works on Saabs exclusively and the owner insisted I come in immediately and, when he found out what my mileage was, he tried to convince me to get a tuneup (aka, change of fluids and minor adjustments to the car) for around $ 1k. I asked Jason if that was necessary and if it was how much it’d cost for him to do it. He laughed and said it wasn’t necessary but if it were, the cost would be a fraction of what the other shop quoted.
The people at Won’s are extremely courteous, knowledgeable, and provide services/​repairs at a cost that’s very reasonable. I will no longer take my car anywhere else when it needs service.

Found Wons when looking for an honest mechanic in the Chicago area. I got an appointment within 2 days. The guy who answered the phone was very nice and casual. My wife took the car in after it had been rattling for about a week. They were very nice to her when she dropped it off and quickly informed her that it was just a loose heat shield (of course!?). They had already tightened it up and it was ready whenever. She picked it up after work. The fee — $ 0. Amazing. Will definitely be returning when I need real work to be done.

Holding off on that fifth star for now, but I am happy to have found them. I went for very basic maintenance, which they did quickly and courteously. Jordon is friendly on the phone and in person. The place seems honest, although I haven’t had an opportunity to really test that. The prices are fair. I’m not sure how thorough they were, didn’t do a top-​to-​bottom check, and I don’t feel as confident as I have at other mechanics, but I guess I only needed very basic service at this point, so I’ll have to try them again for a more serious checkup to see how I feel then. I’ll go back and I’d recommend it.

I know nothing about cars (and I’m BLONDE!) so taking my car to a mechanic can always be a little nerve wracking (will I get worked over, will they scare me into unnecessary repairs and gadgets, you get the idea). After reading other reviews on Won’s, I decided to call them for my 60,000 mile check up. From the first phone call to picking up my freshly serviced car, it was such a great experience. Everything was explained to me up front, they gave me time to run their quote by my previous trusted mechanic in Arizona (they said the hours/​work listed was reasonable for our car and the prices were good), and then the car was serviced in the amount of time they told me it would be. Perfecto!
Since that first experience, we take our car their for oil changes and have always had a good experience. No upselling about getting special oil or buying a new filter. Just a good ol’ oil change and I’m out the door.
Most recently, they helped us (saved us) from buying a BAD car. We had the seller meet us at Won’s so they could do an inspection and right off the bat, they told us all the things wrong with the car and shed some light on our car search-​definitely saved us from buying a car we thought was in tip top shape.
After that, I actually called and talked to Jordan (I think?) to get more advice, and he gave it out freely (recommended cars to look for in our price point that had the features we were looking for). Seriously. I feel like I can now say «I know a guy…» and will never get duped on car stuff again.
Professional, friendly, good prices, and honest service.

This is the sole mechanic shop allowed to repair both my BMW 328i and X3. Jason the owner is honest and professional. He also knows luxury German cars and himself drives the superb Audi S4. I’m meticulous about maintenance. Too meticulous really. I once poured one quart oil too much into the 328i’s engine which cost $ 1200 to unclog plus tow bill. I can rely upon the mechanics to thoroughly repair any issues including my dumb mistake. Only BMW can make checking the oil level and changing radio clock so complicated that one needs to read the owner’s manual. Thanks Munich, Bavaria for over-​engineering these two items.
I can expect to be properly charged too. Jason primarily works on luxury vehicles, but also handles all vehicle makes. As a BMW driver, you won’t wait 2 weeks for appointments like a certain BMW shop opened by two former dealership mechanics. You’ll see plenty of BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi here. We premium German drivers are a fussy lot so it’s a compliment that Jason’s shop garners solid reviews. Won’s also has a 2-​car shop location on Irving Park Road.

These guys are great. They are fast, fair, and reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to take my car here again.

I don’t write a ton of reviews, so this place must have been something special, right? It was.
I called this morning to get my car is due to the fact it has stalled out on me and was not running. I talked to Jordan and he was extremely helpful and quick to get me the name of Oscar who would tow my car over to the shop. Once there is was only a couple of hours before Jordan was calling and letting me know exactly what was going on with the car.
He broke down the cost on everything I needed done and explained everything very well and due to my work schedule he was willing to wait for me to get there, which I thought was awesome.
The car drives great, the service was awesome and the price was VERY reasonable. I think I know where I will be going for all my future car issues/​maintenance!

Won’s performed some basic transmission maintenance for me a few months ago.
I called to get a quote before I brought it in, and when they told me what it was (about $ 150 less than a chain quoted me), I actually said «are you sure???» because I didn’t believe them.
Anyway, the service was done quickly and affordably. They didn’t try to sell me a bunch of other unnecessary repairs. The guys were friendly and not condescending at all (it’s hard to believe at this stage in the game, but some people still talk to women about their cars like they are idiots).
I will definitely be taking my baby back to Wons from now on.

After searching for a while, I almost went elsewhere, but I’m glad I decided to look again! Jason’s a very straight shooter, and not at all pushy. He was a pleasure to do business with and finished my synthetic oil change very quickly. I barely had time to run across the street to the Verizon store and look at all the new toys!
As I mentioned, I went in for a synthetic oil change for my 2005 Ford Focus, and showed up at the time Jason and I had discussed on the phone. I went in to find him at the desk, and he said I could pull the car right in. He asked if I was going to wait, and I told him that I figured I would, and he said something along the lines of that was fine, it should only be 20 minutes, anyway. I told him I might run across the street, but that I wouldn’t be far.
I went to the Verizon store for a few minutes, returning to the office to sit in one of the chairs they have for folks to wait. A few minutes later, Jason came over and told me he’d found another minor issue. I told him that I was sure that there were a few issues, but he told me it wasn’t that bad. Turns out I have a rear shock with a busted seal, and it’s been leaking oil for some time. Not a huge deal, but I’d want to take care of it soon.
I returned to my seat to dub around on my phone for the remainder of my stay, and Jason soon came back to ring me up and get me numbers on the rear shock work. The estimate for both rear shocks came in at just under $ 250, which I think is very fair, and my oil change came in under the Unilocal promoted price of $ 45+. I asked about a transmission flush service, and he tried to find a number for me, but ultimately he will have to contact a dealer to get accurate numbers, and offered to call me when he had them.
It was a great, no-​pressure, no-​hassle experience. I will be back to get those shocks taken care of, and hopefully I’ll get good news on the transmission fluid service, too. Stay tuned…

Used to go to Chicago Import Service in LP (gave Alex and his guys a great review) but recently moved to Bucktown so thought I’d try this place out given its right by my place and it specializes in European cars. Jason, who I think is the owner was friendly when I first walked in and based on conversation, he knows a lot about M3’s.
Dropped my car off for an oil change but later was called because apparently there was a couple of things that needed to be replaced/​fixed (oil leaking). He didnt do the oil change since it would have been redundant given he would have had to remove the oil again so he wanted to know first if he should replace the parts. I knew my car was leaking (oil spots in parking space) so I knew the oil pan and whatever gasket needed to be replaced. Anyway, nice to know he waited for my response before doing the work and oil change — saved time and money.
It took only a day to fix and get the oil change and the total was under the quote he gave me… not by much but better than charging more. I didnt notice this until later, but a huge reason for 5 stars is that my bumper was in a minor accident and was offset/​hanging off a little but he set it so it doesnt look like my bumper is about to fall off!!! Talk about extra credit and going above and beyond.
To sum it up, Jason does not charge you or recommend things you dont need fixed/​repaired for your car. This shop is quick, priced competitively to other European Auto repair shops, and most importantly HONEST. Found my new auto repair shop and if I move again, I’m still bring my car here.
