Zap Props has a massive inventory of antique, vintage, and reproduction items available for rent and purchase. If interested in purchasing items or touring our warehouse, please call ahead of time to make an appointment.

Within the Zap Prop warehouse, we have a fabrication studio, frame shop, and a professional print shop where we work on custom orders. Please call for inquiries. Be aware that due to the labor and facility costs involved in these projects, larger commissions take priority.

We also provide local and national restaurants with wall to wall décor including signage, props and shadowboxes, antiques, framed images, and vinyl lettering. Some national restaurants that we work with are Tilted Kilt, Fuddruckers, Rosati’s, Eleven City Diner and more.

History

Established in 1979.

From 1979 – 1989, Zap was involved in the coin-​op industry for sales, rentals, and repairs. Zap then started sourcing and locating Americana antique items for various dealers from Europe. We had our first rental go out to the movie industry in 1991 for the movie A League of their Own.

In 1993, we moved from our 2,400 sq ft location on the west side of Chicago to an 8,000 sq ft basement on N Rockwell Avenue.

Our inventory quickly grew into 24,000 sq ft and the company moved to it’s present 36,000 ft location on S. Loomis Place in 2004. We now specialize in 3 areas: prop rentals, restaurant design and décor, and antique sales. Zap Props is the largest prop house in the midwest area.
