My partner and I decided to order for delivery since we had gone a week prior and enjoyed the sushi and the cozy environment. Huge mistake. Ordered 2 sushi dishes and two hot dishes. They said it was going to take 25 minutes. After the hour, I called and asked about my order and the girl over the phone said it should be arriving soon.5 minutes later, it arrived. Starving at this point we didn’t notice that both the sushi and the hot dishes were packaged in the same bag. We just wanted to eat! That same night at 3am my partner got fever, vomiting etc. She was not able to hold any food down since that meal. After 4 days she finally went to emergency with 103 fever. Conclusion, Bacterial infection due to FOODPOISONING. The Dr. advised us to contact the establishment, but decided to let the customers know as well. I am partially to blame for not checking the bag and for even accepting the delivery after an hour wait. I do hope the establishment is aware on how they package their sushi or replace the sushi after a certain time.

The sushi was ok, but the ramen was awesome! Best ramen I’ve had in Chicago. The braised pork was perfect, the sliced egg was cooked just right; the yolk was too hard or soft. But the best part was the broth. The cloudy goodness was amazing in the mouth. Big thumbs up!

The food is delicious! The miso soup, the edamame, the maki… the proportions are generous, the food is served hot. The most vegetarian maki options of any place in the city. The best place for sushi in the city, and i’ve been to most of them. It’s never been busy when i’ve been here, but i’ve only been here late at night. The hours are great. Clean atmosphere, good music. I hope this place catches on if it hasn’t already!

I have ordered from this place many times and it always arrives faster than the promise time and everything I have tried is great! From the sushi, to soup, to the noodle dishes, it’s always great!

Muy delicioso lo que ordené y me llegó mucho antes de lo previsto, se suponía que tardaría más de media hora y en 10 minutos o másximo 15 ya estaban en mi puerta para entregarla, quedé enamorada del servicio ;)

They used to offer free delivery — what happened? Otherwise, totally reliable late night Thai and sushi, good prices, fast delivery. I have never eaten in, so I can’t speak to the ambiance, but they certainly fill a neighborhood void among significantly more expensive, but not necessarily better, place. Thanks, Zoku!

The fish is of a high quality. I usually just order a small miso soup and 6 pieces of fatty yellow tail sashimi. Staff is always friendly, their hot meals are great, and you can always go for a quick sprint across Humboldt if you’re feeling wAcKy. Haha jokes.

This is an update to my previous review. It is, with a heavy heart, very discouraging that I have to update my review. Zoku recently opened a second location, further from my house which I have not tried yet, and it seems that the A team has left the location near my house. I suspect the A team has gone to open the new restaurant, leaving the B team in charge at the location at Kedzie and North. BRINGKATHYBACK! As a die hard Zoku fan, I was surprised when a received an order that was not only sub-par with falling apart sushi, but the instructions regarding my order had not been followed. I said to myself, well everyone has bad days — no worries — and didn’t think twice about it. Then another order, equally disappointing. Ok, people have rough weeks too… I’ll give it another go again. Third time, fourth time — all equally disappointing and at this point I’ve sunk too much money into second, third and fourth chances. I’m so sorry Zoku, but this isn’t working for me — our one way relationship — we’re going to have to start seeing other people. Nothing personal, you just seem to have emotionally stopped caring.

A lot of the sushi is a little heavily over-mayoed but aside from that the sushi overall is delicious. i love the veggie spring rolls– super filling. The Thai iced tea is so flavorful and is the oerfect refreshment to go with your meal. The art work inside is great, nice ambiance. I regularly order from here because its local, convenient, and i am never disappointed with their delivery either.

I live right down the street from this place. I can’t say my experience with it has been amazing but it’s not the worse either. The green curry is adequately spicy. The sushi is alright but I’m not sure I’d eat something with raw fish in it again. I got the futomaki and the maguro one. Like most Japanese fare in town, it’s hard to get sushi comparable to Tokyo. I barely see anyone in here on weekdays.

This place is our go to thai and sushi place. Not only is it open late but delivery is very quick. The food I’d always great and it’s just a nice meal when you don’t want to cook.

This is our go to sushi place. We love it! It’s close to home, consistent, fast, good prices, and fresh. We really hope it stays open for a long time! We eat here probably at least twice or three times a month.

Loved this place. The service was great but it’s also because we were the only people in the restaurant on a Saturday night! We had the sushi chef just bring is his favorite rolls an they were all really good. I didn’t love the caramel crunch but their volcano roll was amazing.

We were looking for a place that delivered on a Sunday night. This place is open until 10:30pm and their food was delicious. We ordered four rolls and got two egg rolls for free for ordering $ 30 worth of food. Our food arrived in 40 minutes. We will definitely be ordering here again!

We bought a groupon a few months ago and when we got there they were closed so we went somewhere else. Planned to return the groupon but then forgot. Since we were in the area Sunday we decided to use it. After ordering I decided to check Unilocal and saw that the most recent review said food poisoning. We should have just left then but my boyfriend Said we’d be fine. He was wrong. We both had to call off work and are now suffering from FOODPOISONING. This restaurant doesn’t even deserve the star I gave them. The food is not that great and costs too much for what you get. We will NEVER be back.

FOODPOISONING: STAYFARAWAYFROMTHISPLACE!!! Ordered from them last night and have had the worst 24 hours of my life. I could’ve slept on the bathroom floor. Not sure if it was the sushi or fried rice that did it but I had severe chills, stomach cramping, diarrhea, and weakness which started about 5 hours after eating it and lasted for 12 hours straight. To top it off the food was mediocre at best. They also charged me extra for a side of sauce which they didn’t even give me and instead have me peanut sauce and I’m allergic!!! When I called the manager to complain about the food poisoning they told me there was no manager on duty! Ummmm what!!! What restaurant runs without a manager working? Who is in charge then!!! I filed a report with the City of Chicago Public Health Department. THEWORSTEVER! NEVERAGAIN! Do yourself and your body a favor and GOSOMEWHEREELSE!

Despite the mixed reviews for this place, I was craving sushi and am on a budget. It’s a sushi option in the ‘hood and Groupon saved the day! I grabbed a small bottle of sake on the way over because it’s BYOB(thank you!) and got my Groupon grub on. I ordered four rolls: Sexy Dynamite, Sweet Potato, Caribbean and Caramel Crunch *Broke girl budget tip: Go stag so you can savor all the sushi goodness yourself. It’s not greedy, it’s savvy ;) And I had AM leftovers when I got home with the munchies from a long night out! All of the rolls were unique and tasty. The servings were plentiful, and my server was pleasant. Zoku did NOT disappoint! Zoku reminds me a lot of Jaiyen. Not authentic by any means, but delicious nonetheless. The décor is not so fab(alas, the cool wall mural is no more), so maybe skip it as a first date destination. This seems like the perfect late night sushi delivery place. They’re open till 2am! The only unpleasant aspect of my visit was the side door issue. Restaurant employees were continually coming and going through the side door that opened up directly into the small dining room. It was negative degrees outside, and I’d be freezing cold every time this occurred. Maybe they weren’t aware? All in all a satisfying experience.

This is one of the very few places in town where you can order sushi delivery till 2am and as bad as you might think late night maki may be it’s actually not bad. I ordered conveniently through Unilocal by way of Eat 24 which was an extremely smooth process. No language barrier on the phone, timely drop off, and didn’t even have to walk down my stairs to meet the delivery dude. The rolls were surprisingly fresh, the pad thai was tasty, and their chili sauce added an excellent kick to make my food spicy which is just how I like it. It wouldn’t exactly be my first choice for Asian food during normal hours, but if I get a craving after hours again I’d definitely order from Zoku.

Nestled in a sketchy part of the neighborhood. When we arrived, all the tables were full. I have no idea how anyone would randomly notice the place(as the exterior is very dark) unless you were already planning on going there. The futo roll, dragon, and hamachi-negi were amazing. Was expecting tiny roles from reading other reviews, but these were decent in my opinion. Got shrimp spring rolls… okay, but I’ve never been a spring roll fan. Also got the veggie green curry. The curry was okay, but not many vegetables, and the ones that were there were all baby carrots. The rice was also rather interesting. Loved the 3 rolls that I got, however. The waitress was rather unattentive and had to be asked many times to get our drinks refilled, but luckily there was another server that started picking up her slack. The waitress was very sweet, however.
