When a friend’s father recently passed away, I had a hard time finding the right gift to send. I wanted to get something thoughtful and I ended up going with Acknowledgments, after scouring many other options. I sent the Garden Memories memorial garden kit to the family — it comes with a tree and flowers to plant, a heart-​shaped memorial rock for the garden, garden box and tote and is beautifully packaged. I also sent their Buddhist meditation bracelet to my friend. This wasn’t cheap, but it was presented well and appreciated by the family… and a lot more unique than sending the traditional food platter or flower arrangement.
All their gifts come with «intention cards» that have really kind explanations of the meaning behind each gift. They also have a section of the site that explains sympathy gift etiquette along with some suggested phrasing for your card (that they hand write for you). It’s a really helpful site and I found the owners to be very responsive and honest. I actually selected (and paid for) an upgraded shipment rate unnecessarily and Lisa e-​mailed to let me know she was refunding me the extra amount because the gifts would arrive just as fast with ground shipping due to the distance. I placed my order on a Friday and it was delivered on a Tuesday morning, with the cheapest shipping rate. Overall, I was very pleased with the service and quality of product.
