So great! I locked my keys in my car and he drove across town in 10 minutes and unlocked the car! He was very empathetic, professional and kind!

Drove to the address listed not realizing they were a «mobile» lock smith. Woops. Luckily, one of their vans drove up as I was pondering whether to go up to the front door of the business which was actually a residence. There were 2 guys that came out of the van, one was in a suit and the other in uniform. The guy in the suit (I didn’t get his name) was super friendly and talkative, ready to help in a jiffy. I told him I needed another mail key, he had the guy in uniform (Dave) go to another truck and cut it for me and when he came back with the copy, I attempted to pay but instead was given a free key. The suit guy told me not to worry about it and voila! I had another mail key with no charge! SUPER NICE! Of course I would have paid what ever the charge was but was pleasantly surprised at the unexpected gesture, much appreciated! Thanks suit guy! 5 stars for stellar, fast service as well as rockin customer service.

I locked my keys in the car, and I needed someone right away to come and retrieve them for me, because I had my little one with me and we needed to get home for her nap. After calling a few lock smiths and getting no answer (at 11:30 a.m. On a weekday) Bidwell Lock & key answered on the second ring and came in just a few minutes and quickly retrieved my keys. They were professional and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I have known Paul for quite a few years and have always found him to be a kind and considerate locksmith. If he refused to provide service, there was a reason.
While identity theft is a legitimate concern, so is auto theft. It is the locksmith’s responsibility to make certain that the person requesting keys, is actually the owner. Apparently, this particular person was not willing to prove ownership and that is why Paul refused to serve her. It is Paul’s right to refuse service to anyone and in this case he was justified in doing so.
I have found Bidwell to be a great company to work with and I highly recommend them.

I needed a key replacement for the only vehicle I have. I called Bidwell Lock & Key. After arriving at my house I was handed a form to fill out. When I questioned the necessity of putting my CDL number on the work order I was told it was a mandatory law. I was not happy about that. Especially in today’s day and age of identity theft. I expressed my dissatisfaction but wrote it down none the less. The owner of the business then handed me the form back got in his vehicle and LEFT.
Leaving me stranded without a key and/​or the use of my vehicle. I then called around to see how I could get a key. I was informed, by the vehicle manufacturer, the ONLY way to get a key made for my vehicle was to have it towed to the nearest dealer, in Red Bluff, because it was a ‘computerized’ key.
After making the arrangements to get the vehicle to Red Bluff I sat down the READ the form the gentlemen left me with. It does say an CDL or any other pictured ID is required. So, I had the option but the owner failed to deliver that message to me. Further reading, there is a disclaimer, «I accept that it may not be possible to open, gain access to or create keys for a vehicle.» so, I could have paid $ 185.00 for a key that wasn’t going to work in the first place. That is highly unethical!
AAA will tow my vehicle at no charge, dealer will make the right key, and it will be less than $ 185.00 for a key that would not have worked out in the first place. :(
The owner’s account of the situation is an obvious attempt to recover himself from what can only be a terribly botched attempt of inappropriate behavior and poor customer service.
1. I filled out the paperwork, with my ID, was NEVER asked for PROOF of ownership of the vehicle (which I did find odd). I asked why the CDL was required to be written on the paperwork. He told me it was the law. I responded with, «I’ll put it on here but I don’t believe this is an appropriate method given the amount of identity theft that is occurring.» He stated, «my files are locked up at all times.» I said, «that doesn’t account for breaking and entries does it.» He then took the clip board from me, handed me the sheet and said, «here you can shred this I am leaving.» I was stunned and confused.
2. I BEGGED the owner to please not leave me stranded without the means to drive myself anywhere. I apologized if I offended him in any way to please not leave me in this situation. He became very callous telling me my apology was not accepted, and left.
3. I am a 50% service connected vet with titanium rods in both of my legs and the inability to walk long distances. I live 2 miles from the nearest grocery store, gas station, and 42 miles round trip from the Veteran’s Clinic in Chico, CA. I have only one vehicle. I consider that stranded.
4. I had just found out that my sister, in Sacramento, had died that morning. Which I had also told the owner. I have been unable to get to Sacramento, without a key to my vehicle, to get to visit with my niece’s.
5. At no time did I become HOSTILE! That is not my nature and anyone who knows me for the last 63 years knows that is opposite who I am.
I am sorry this owner cannot take ownership for his own deplorable behavior to insure public safety and well-​being. Let alone have the ability to be kind and compassionate towards the public he purposes to take good care of.

Bidwell Lock and Key was fast, reliable, and has reasonable pricing for their services. He is an incredibly nice man and I would recommend him to anybody that is looking for a locksmith!
