Brady’s Moving & Storage

In all fairness, my complaint is with Atlas Moving Company, NOT Brady’s Moving & Storage, Inc. All of the employees there did a wonderful job. My complaint is with the driver and his loader/​helper. The helper was careless, damaged two pieces of furniture and a carton containing a lamp is still missing. He mixed the load with another shipment. Brady’s was very nice and accommodating for our moving needs. We also did not take the extended insurance coverage because our two previous moves had gone well. I thought nothing could go wrong. The loader was careless, so a lot went wrong. Brady’s people try their best to make sure all goes well with your move, but they have no control over the driver and his helper, especially after your goods pass into another state.

If I could give them more than a 5 star I would.
We contacted Brady’s in DESPERATION after a horrible experience with another moving company. We had to move out of our home within a few days & needed help fairly quickly!
Called numerous company’s finally getting in touch with Jim R. (President) of Brady’s. He was patient, kind, understanding & trying his best to accommodate our needs. Jim came out that afternoon to give us an estimate on our move. Through much communication and professionalism on this companies part, they were able to put in place a truck, driver, and 6 packers/​loaders. In two days we were packed, loaded & our belongings were on the road to our new place! So impressive and so thankful!
Our driver was Jeff Day who was a hard worker! He did a excellent job in transporting our personal property.
Loaders/​unloaders on both ends were prompt, efficient, trustworthy & hard working!
Only had a few things that were slightly damaged, but did get insurance. Nothing was missing or lost.
All your merchandise will be inventoried including your high value items. All boxes are tagged and numbered and kept on a log sheet. You will also receive a packet with all instructions as well as a complete moving check off list.
Company holds all required insurances, Valid DOT # and Brady’s works as a subsidiary of Atlas Moving and Storage.
Keep in mind that it generally takes two weeks from start to finish in the process of a move, with ANY Moving Company. Brady’s was able to do this in 2 days for us! Super Impressive, & again so very, very thankful to them!

DO NOT USE BRADY’S!!! We have used Brady’s in the past where we did the packing, and they moved and stored our things with no problems. This time, we had them do everything, pack, move, and store. It was a nightmare! Most important, no one cared about the extensive damage. We lost so much!
My suggestions are:
1. Do it yourself. Hire the truck and labor. Do the packing and/​or monitor the packing. It’s hard work, but the anguish of loosing so much is worse.
2. If moving yourself is not possible, and you have to use Brady’s or any other moving company, buy as much insurance as you possibly can. All moving companies carry the same ridiculous insurance where they pay only $ 0.60/pound on the damaged item. Consider a brand new, flat screened tv that weighs approximately 4 pounds. When the movers destroy it, their insurance company will pay only $ 2.40 to replace it.
Consider your options before hiring. Your household goods are just things, but if you have to replace those things, it will take a while to recover and have a functioning household.

I did not have have Brady’s/Airex move me, but rented a Penske truck from them for a one way move from CA to TX.
This was an involved process with a lot of equipment, options, insurances, etc.
Allis was the clerk who helped us and she was a GEM!
Helpful, Courteous and informative at every step of the process — even when there was a hick up. We saved more than 50% over what UHaul would have extorted from us, had superior equipment, MUCH MUCH better SERVICE, trucks that actually ran on cheaper diesel and all in all a trouble free experience from beginning to end —
We would NEVER recommend using ANYBODY ELSE ANYMORE.

We had a similar experience with Brady’s that «HeyLaura» did. Great until you sign on the dotted line, then subpar help, and additional charges that shouldn’t have applied.
One of the loaders, Dave, was an absolute nightmare, purposely dropping items then laughing, harassing our dogs and cats who were already extremely anxious, talking on his phone half the day, and talking back to me in a snotty tone. My understanding is that Dave was a loaner from Atlas and has now been fired.
But Mike is who tried to convince me that I needed to pay more money to have two of the four guys start helping with the packing instead of the loading. All four were loading, we were told it would take them the better part of the day so we were still packing our kitchen and part of the master bedroom, but two hours into the day they were almost done and we were still packing. So… Mike asked if we wanted them to help pack, I said sure (I mean, we were already paying for four guys for the day so whatever we needed them to do they should have done), so Mike took off and loaded up his truck with boxes then brought them back to the house.
I was very grateful for that but he also brought back an addendum to the contract and badgered me into signing it, charging me for the two guys who were now packing instead of loading! Talk about unethical. I argued, told him I wasn’t stupid, that I was already paying for four guys for the day so if two of them were now packing that meant they were no longer loading, and it should not cost any more. He ended up yelling at me to SIGN IT! I did in order to keep the move on schedule knowing I’d have it out with the owner later. I did, she made up an excuse for the refund so their books wouldn’t reflect the double-​billing they tried on me, but whatever, I ended up getting almost $ 500 back when all was said and done.
I still have to file a claim for some minor damage but that will happen shortly. A lamp was broken, some small kitchen items are still missing five months later and after we’ve opened every carton, a few other kitchen items were broken, even one of our pans ended up with a missing handle! We had no pans with missing handles before they were packed: o) And there is an entire box of Christmas stockings and tree skirts that are no where to be found. Interesting that one reviewer here stated he had a piece of furniture that wasn’t even his. WHY ARE THEY MIXING UP LOADS after they tell customers they don’t? How did that piece of furniture that belonged to someone else get on the other reviewer’s truck? Hmmm. We know what happened to our pan handle, and to our pyrex bowl lid, and to our popcorn popper lid: Jim, one of the packers, thought he was pretty funny and kept saying, «Do you want to know a secret?» and when we’d ask what he was talking about, he’d tell us we’d have to wait until the move was over. We’re sure he was throwing little things away to retaliate for us complaining about Dave — he had a garbage bag next to him while he was packing and chuckling.
During the unloading the following day, two of the movers were great, did what we asked them to do, while the other two completely ignored us and did whatever they wanted. They put boxes in the wrong rooms or in the garage, and when we pointed it out they said no problem, they’d move them. Of course they’d move them! Then it takes them twice as long and they charge the customer for that. I finally had to announce about ²⁄₃ of the way through the unloading that I knew what they were doing and to knock it off. All of them looked embarrassed, like kids getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
It was an exhausting move as most are, but Brady’s didn’t help. I’ll only be glad once the claim is filed and we’re paid. And we better be paid, I can tell you that.

3 stars = A– OK. Brady’s moved me from northern California to Utah. They happened to have a truck going my way so they were able to give me a better deal than their local competitors including an earlier pick up date and sooner drop off date (I was looking for a relatively quick move). They came and got my things on a Tuesday morning right around the time they said they would, and I received them in my new place that Saturday.
They quoted me a higher weight than their competitors, but only charged the actual weight which was less than they estimated.
The driver Jim, was very nice, polite and professional. He stopped by my new place the day before to check out the route and keep me updated on the schedule for the next day and called an hour before he came with my shipment. The help he had at both ends were very polite as well.
What I wanted: someone else to load all my self packed things into a truck, drive it for me to my new location and have all my stuff arrive safely undamaged (at least the important things) and someone else to unload and put my things in the rooms I wanted.

There was one box that had a big chunk dinged out of the side, but the contents inside remained undamaged. My piano made it with no outward damage, but the C sharp 2 octaves above middle C no longer plays. It probably couldn’t have been avoided regardless of the movers (a piano in a truck isn’t exactly the best place for it but it’s been moved twice before by friends and family with nothing like that happening before– but then again it has never been in a moving truck for that long before either). It needs to be tuned after a move anyway, so I’m hoping the tuner can repair it, no big deal. My ironing board handle that you press in to lower the board came off some time in the moving process so unless you know where to push, it will stay stuck in the upright position. It was from Walmart 3 – 4 years ago, so again, no big deal and easily replaced.
At one point they brought in a piece of furniture that wasn’t mine and asked where it went. I sent it back to the truck. At the end of the unloading, we did an inventory check off (every parcel was stickered with a number) to make sure we had everything, but if a dishonest person liked that piece of furniture it could have easily disappeared to the wrong location.
They cellophaned my couch, used furniture pads, rolled out a carpet protector at my new place (not at my old one), took my bed apart for me and reassembled it, they unhooked the washer and dryer for me, but didn’t hook them up at the new place.
Readers digest version: Very nice people. They didn’t drop or smash anything. Minimal damage. I got my stuff when they said I would get it and I didn’t have to drive a big moving truck across Nevada.

I’m an experienced mover (5 long distance moves in the last 8 years) and my most recent move was overseen by Brady’s.
It was my least favorite moving experience yet. While the front desk/​dispatcher folks are super nice and helpful, I was not the least impressed by the driver. Unfortunately, the driver is the person who makes or breaks your move.
1. Lack of communication.
I had been informed by the move manager that he would call me about an hour before he headed to my home to load up my stuff — just to give me a head’s up and make sure I had all the boxes I needed. At about 8:30 on the morning of the move, I finally called to check about the boxes I needed and asked for an ETA. «Oh, we’ll be there in 15 minutes.»
Same on the delivery end: The driver actually showed up and started moving stuff into my house without even calling me first. I rushed over from my hotel to meet him there and begin directing traffic. I was very annoyed not to have been given any advance warning.
2. Scary day laborer
The fellow the driver hired to help him unload my stuff in my new home was creep-​tastic. I was incredibly uncomfortable with the fact that this local guy now knows where I and my two small daughters live.
3. Messy
In all my past moves, the movers have been careful to roll out protective rugs on the major traffic areas. Not so with Brady’s. They just began tromping all over my newly waxed floors and shampooed carpets. The worst part about this was that my new home has a crabapple tree in the back yard, which had dropped hundreds of nearly-​rotten crabapples all over the patio. The movers walked through the mess and tracked in straight into my house. My carpets are ruined; I’m not even sure that getting them re-​shampooed will do any good, the stains are so thoroughly ground in.
4. Careless
The movers tended to just stack boxes willy nilly. I had asked them to keep everything to one end of the garage, as we are anticipating some construction on the other side. I have several large shelving units that they could have stacked boxes onto, but neglected to do so. The shelves were placed in such a way that I now have to move all the boxes from around them in order to make them usable.
I think my issue with Brady’s boils down to a lack of thoughtfulness and consideration on the part of their crew. The front desk people were great. Jeff brought me free moving boxes, Laurie went above and beyond to help me find a missing couch part. But no matter how great they were, they can’t make up for the attitude of the driver, who seemed to just be «getting the job done and getting out.»
Also important to note — they do not offer a maximum price guarantee. This caught me by surprise because all my other moves have risked the accuracy of their weight estimate and never made me pay more if my stuff weighs more. However, when Brady’s found that they had underestimated my load by nearly 1,000 pounds, I was out an extra $ 300.
