European Motorsport BMW & Mini Service Specialists

Unlike the service that was done on my car by European Motorsport BMW & Mini Service Specialist, here’s a thorough review of my experience with this sub par auto repair shop.
Sometime in July, I called Euro Motorsport to make a reservation to fix a leak in my windshield reservoir. I explained to Kenny that every time that I poured fluid into the reservoir duct, the fluid would leak straight out from the bottom of my car. I said that my reservoir needs to be replace, an assumption I made given my failed attempts at filling it up. Note: Kenny did not mention at any point in the conversation about «diagnosing» my car for the problem to identity any & ALL reasons why the car was leaking. Over the phone we made a reservation & his shop ordered the part.
Another unfortunate aspect of my experience with this company is that their service is incredibly slow. Kenny informed me over the phone that given the amount of work that they have at shop they would be able to fix my car in the span of two days. I explained to him that I did not have that option since I work everyday & live in Orland. Kenny then proposed that I drop off my car early in the morning & that he would be able to fix it by the evening the same day. I am not a mechanic or a «mini service specialist» but I find it ridiculous that it should take that long to replace that one part. I know that mini parts are pretty packed in under the hood but I still don’t see why it should take 8 hours to fix one part. Slightly inconvenienced by not having my car for a whole day, I didn’t mind it as much because I just wanted the problem fixed, which it was «to an extent,» to use Kenny’s words.
I dropped off my car & Kenny said that if I didn’t want to wait 8 hours in the shop (uh no) then he could have one of his workers drop me off somewhere. Great! But little did I know that I would be dropped off in my own car. Basically I drove to the shop, picked up their mechanic, drove to a coffee shop where I would spend the day waiting, & the mechanic drove my car back to the shop. Then once the repairs were done, he drove my car to pick me up & I had to drive him back to shop & then I finally drove home. I know this is not a dealership service department but Euro Motorsport should have some kind of resources to transport their customers (and not with their own car) if they are going to deprive them of their car for at least 8 hours. This back & forth business is not the business.
So the leak was fixed! Well for only 2 months, after I noticed that my indicator was blinking that I was out of windshield fluid. Knowing that the leak was fixed, I thought it must have evaporated from being outside in the heat. I immediately stopped, bought fluid, filled the reservoir & groaned as I saw the fluid leak straight on out. Now I don’t know exactly when the reservoir started leaking but even 2 months after getting it repaired is way too soon.
I called Kenny that day & explained to him my situation & that I only had a few days in the Chico area to get my car fixed before I go back to school at Stanford. I asked him what were my options with getting the car fixed in time. He said that he had to check with the «head mechanic» and that he would call me the next day with options. The sun rose & set the next day with no call from Kenny.
Anxious about finding a solution and about my 3 hour drive back to the back with no windshield fluid. I called Kenny this morning mentioning that no one called me back yesterday & what were my options to fix the leak. Kenny started off by asking what I wanted to do to which I replied that I wanted the leak fix, the same leak that his shop was supposed to have fixed in the first place. In response Kenny said that my first call was only to replace the reservoir not to «diagnose» the car to find the real problem. Calling him out on his shop’s poor business practices, I asked why would they have customers come in multiple times to fix the same problem if they could have fixed it the first time by investigating the source of the problem? Kenny then tried to use an example to explain away his shop’s business practices. He said that if a guy comes in asking to fix the alternator because his car won’t start, they will just fix the alternator. But if itwas actually the battery, then oh well I guess he spent thousands of dollars to fix a problem that wasn’t actually a problem. No joke, that is actually how he explained it to me.
He then went on to say that I told him that I did not want a diagnosis & that I only wanted to replace the part. I called him out on his lie & told him that he never offered to do a diagnosis in the first place. Despite the fact that I have no training & that I am not a mechanic or «mini specialist,» he insisted that the car still leaked because I did not ask to fix the problem (which I did) explicitly in the 1^st place & that I asked to replace the parts.
Low prices, low quality, low customer service.

Took my Z4 there, not only did they do a great job quickly they also washed it & fixed window seal without charging me out saying anything. When I asked them about it they just said, if we notice something we can fix easy at no cost we do. My car drives & looks nicer every time it comes back. I live in Sacramento but make the trip here for service.

I’ve been taking my 1974 2002 BMW to European Motorsport for 15 years now. They are very professional and very reasonably priced. I’ve never had an issue with them and they have always been able to explain my cars problems in simple terms. I highly recommend going to these guys, instead of dealing with an expensive dealership. My car is a very happy car. :)

This is the only bmw place in town that would replace my time-​cert insert on short notice, all other places told me not even to bring my car in for a week or 2. It took Kenny overnight to fit it in their schedule. This is the best place to go in town if you are a bmw or mini owner. Fair prices and great customer service

I recently took my 2007 BMW 328i to European Motorsport for a rare transmission issue. (My car would kick hard when shifting between 2^nd and 3^rd gears). I had already researched online and taken my car to another BMW mechanic in town, to no avail. The only fix I knew of was a transmission replacement = $ 5000.
Kenny at European Motorsport took a genuine interest in solving the problem. They used cutting-​edge technology to diagnose the issue (since the ecu didn’t throw any codes). Very impressive. What was thought to be a $ 5000 fix, EM charged me $ 202 and my car is brand new again. Three words to describe this shop: Honest, Expert, Friendly.

I was very pleased with the service we received at European Motorsport! Kenny was very helpful and got me right in to run a diagnostic check on my car. I explained to him the issue I was having over the phone and he suggested coming in so we weren’t guessing. He was polite and helpful and he didn’t recommend any unnecessary work be done to my car which I absolutely appreciate! I highly recommend this shop for repair on your car!!!

This place is amazing and so very helpful and understanding! After going to almost every auto shop in this town and constantly being ripped off I came here, I stopped by unexpectedly, was kindly seen right away and was told what my issues were within minutes of being there, no jokes or tests to run or pay for, these guys know their cars and know what they are doing. For the first time ever I feel safe bringing my car somewhere I can trust. They guarantee all maintenance performed and don’t try to take you to the bank while your at it. The previous owner of my car suggested to take my car to Field Motor Sports for all my maintenance issues because it was where he had gone before but every time I called him or randomly went in, he was very unfriendly and never available to help me, he was always to busy to help. European Motorsports helped me right away when I randomly showed up and told me what was wrong. A few days later I had other complications with my car and it broke down, they were so nice and let me come in and drop my car off even though they were already so booked up as it was, he squeezed me in the schedule, The guys there were so nice and reassuring that my car was going to be ok and had it all fixed up the very next day. They are life savers! I highly recommend them and will continue to go there for all my BMW needs, thank you European Motorsports!!!

I was pleasantly surprised with the service and this price of this BMW repair shop! They got me in right away and Kenny the first point of contact was honest and told me to come in and Ron could take a look. I waited less then 2 minutes and my car was worked on. I just paid for the service since no parts were needed. They charged half of what Courtesy Motors charged for! They earned my service and I will continue to bring my BMW back to them!

When I moved to Chico, I needed to find an independent BMW repair shop to take our two cars to. (When you have two, 10+ year old BMWs, you sure don’t want to take them to a BMW dealership for service!) We found European Motorsport and have taken both of our cars here — 2002 530i and 1995 740iL.
Both times, we have been impressed with the service. They take the time to explain the problem and give you the options with prices. They suggest things that could be done that are not absolutely necessary, but make sense to do while the car is already disassembled. However, they don’t try to force or bully you into doing any of them. Personally, I appreciated the fact that they told me about things to fix that would save me money in the long run.
I felt like we were treated fairly and the repairs seemed to be done properly. We never had to go back with the same problem not being resolved.
The prices seem reasonable for a BMW shop where you can expect to pay more than you would to fix an American or Japanese car. They are definitely cheaper than the BMW dealer or than the BMW shops I used to go to in the Bay Area.
If I have one complaint, it would be that their shop seems quite busy, so the number of days it took to get the car fixed was longer than I would have wanted. On the other hand, they are likely busy because they are a good shop! :)
Overall, I highly recommend European Motorsport as an excellent independent BMW repair shop in Chico.
