Gary’s Automotive is a full-​service automotive repair and preventive maintenance center. We have been performing our high quality and guaranteed automotive repairs in the Chico area as a family owned business since 1976. We are conveniently located for your service and maintenance needs and we are qualified to repair and service all domestic and imported vehicles using parts that are equal to or exceed the standards of those parts originally used by the manufactures. We are definitely the cost-​effective alternative to car dealership servicing for all scheduled maintenance of your personal or company auto, pickup or truck. Regardless of where it was built, we will service your vehicle and still maintain the manufacturer’s warranty.

These guys sweated bullets over my car, and finally (after TWO alternator replacements at Pep Boys) were able to solve my problems. David is the main scheduler there, and he’s been a totally awesome contact. They hated that my car was so hard to diagnose, and went way above and beyond their requirements, since they knew I was getting screwed. They actually did research and pulled up articles to prove to Pep Boys that the alternators were bad. And they’ve been exceedingly generous in helping me out with the small leftover details from my suffering — they’ve put in new bulbs and fuses that were blown by the bad alternator and helped me track down other issues.
Thank goodness they were able to catch this. Without their help, I would probably have lost the car.
They are off the Esplanade, immediately north of the Sin Cortez Mexican restarauant.

I called in to see if I could get a smog check and they fit me in right away. Dave helped me out and he was awesome, fast, and very friendly. It was an all around great experience. The price was great too. I look forward to giving them my business in the future.

I called last min for a walk in smog check. I knew it was a long shot (I had waited 30min at another shop that ended up having internet issues and couldn’t perform the smog) BUT Gary’s was kind enough to get me in right then.
Got a pleasant greeting, offered a chair to wait, the smog check was lightening fast and the price was competitive. Would highly recommend this great local place.

Still awesome. I took my car in for an easy fix quoted at $ 250. When I went in to pick it up, the bill was only $ 196. It didn’t take as long as they anticipated so the labor cost was lower. They could have been dishonest and charged the full $ 250, and I never would have known but these are some seriously stand-​up guys and they are honest. On a scale of one to five stars, they are a ten.

I’ve been going to Gary’s automotive for a few years and they always do excellent work. I am naturally distrustful of car repair shops since I obviously don’t know as much as they do about cars and you don’t want to get sold on something you don’t need. Gary’s automotive has experienced technicians that know how to get work done which means you always get a quick and fair quote that doesn’t change. I can’t recommend them enough.

This shop is great. Some places give the impression that women get a higher price quote than men, but that is not the case with Gary’s. He explained everything that went on with my vehicle, and explained why certain things were needed. He even showed me the part that he removed and compared it to a new one, so I could see the difference. Just fantastic service, and much more reasonably priced than anywhere else I called. I will certainly be coming back. Thanks!

Have taken my car here to be worked on a few times. I’ve found them to be honest, reliable, and moderately priced. Another shop in town had told me that I needed struts, but David at Gary’s checked them and told me the truth– there was nothing wrong. So Gary’s saved me some money and earned a loyal customer. Thanks!
Also, they don’t do alignment in house, but they will take your car next door to the tire shop to have this done– no hassle.

Went here 2 times. First was for a serpentine belt second for a broken tailgate. Both were fixed and for a reasonable price unlike the dealerships. Very curtious and prompt have no issues so far.

These folks have the one thing that makes me come back. They are honest.
Not always perfect, at times I have had to go back to finish things, but they are prompt, courteous, have NEVER burned me on a repair. For this alone
I HIGHLY recommend them. There are sadly few repair places I can say
that about. This is one.

I was recommended by my co-​worker who has his cars taken care of at Gary’s for years, so I walked in and hoped them could fix my headlights. They’re very good! Efficient and honest, unlike the other mechanic I went to before this who quoted me a ridiculously high price! Dave and Pat are very nice. I will definitely continue using them!

This is a great shop to take your vehicle for a service, smog or repair. Dave and Pat are wonderful and will treat you right! They’re very fair on price and are very honest with you. So all you females out there that are afraid of getting taken advantage of because you don’t know much about cars I recommend going here you’ll be in good hands! They also get your ride back to you very quick! All around awesome! I’ve been going here for years and will continue for the rest of my driving days.

Went here for a smog check and it was reasonably priced and finished in a timely manner. Came back a couple of years later with the break light on my dash on, they filled up my break fluid for free.
